NEWS
A. J. Styles has surpassed three big WWE champions when it comes to consecutive days with the title. Styles, who recently jumped Shawn Michaels in the chart, has now passed Yokozuna, John Cena, and John Bradshaw Layfield, all of whom were at 280 days as champions. As of last week, the Phenomenal One is at 282 days and will need to go past Samoa Joe at "SummerSlam" if he wants to climb a couple of more places in the chart. Next in line is Ultimate Warrior at 293 days and Billy Graham at 296 days. Styles would be able to go past them with a successful title defense at "SummerSlam".
A. J. Styles vs. Rick Michaels in a dark match from 2001 is being added to the WWE Network’s hidden gems section this week.

Oklafan extends condolences to Daniel Flynn on the passing of his uncle Major.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Jim Neidhart, who passed away as a result of a grand mal seizure, connected to Alzheimer’s. He was 63 years old. Neidhart held the California state high school shotput record from 1973 to 1985. After high school, he was drafted into the National Football League and played preseason games for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders, but never made it to the main roster for either team. After leaving the NFL in 1977, he contacted Stu Hart and trained with him, debuting for Stampede Wrestling. Initially called “The Animal”, Hart offered Neidhart $500 to win an anvil-tossing competition, which he did. This earned him the nickname “The Anvil” which he would have for almost all of the rest of his career, though when competing in Florida, he would go back to being “The Animal”. Neidhart spent 5 years working at Stampede before entering the American territorial system. He was primarily a tag team wrestler in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Mid-South, where he teamed with Butch Reed to defeat Magnum T. A. & Jim Duggan for the Mid-South Tag Team titles on September 12, 1983. They would hold those titles until Christmas Night, where they lost them to T. A. & Mr Wrestling II in a Steel Cage Match. Neidhart & Reed would then split up and feud with each other for the first part of 1984 before Neidhart left MSW for Florida. There he feuded with Angelo Mosca over the NWA Southern Title, which he won in Oklahoma City on August 12, 1984. By 1985, Neidhart entered the WWF, where he was initially managed by Mr. Fuji. Eight days after his WWF debut, he wrestled Bret Hart to a draw twice. One week later, he beat Hart. That led to them establishing The Hart Foundation and Fuji selling the contract for Neidhart to Jimmy Hart. The Hart Foundation would go on to become one of the most successful tag teams in WWF history. They defeated the British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith) for the WWF World Tag Team Titles in 1987, but would eventually lose them to Strike Force (Tito Santana & Rick Martel). After brief solo ventures from both men, they reunited and defeated Demoltion (Ax & Smash) for their second WWF Tag Team Title reign at SummerSlam in 1988. This led to a very controversial situation where it appeared that they lost the belts to The Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty) in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, but that decision was eventually overturned because the top rope broke during the first fall. According to Michaels, the Harts used politics to get the belts back, but other sources say that initially the titles were going to change hands because Neidhart had been fired due to a contract dispute, but that dispute was resolved when the match should have been aired. The Hart Foundation would eventually lose the tag titles to The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags), thanks to their former manager Jimmy Hart, at WrestleMania VII. Hart and Neidhart then split with Neidhart forming a tag team with Owen Hart called the New Foundation. They were never as successful as the Hart Foundation and Jim would eventually be fired from the WWF for “unprofessional conduct”. He wrestled three matches for NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling and made another tour of Japan (he had done 3 while with Stampede) before coming to WCW in 1993. But he only spent about 5 months in WCW and didn’t make much of an impression. He faced The Sandman at September to Remember in NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling and then returned to the WWF in 1994. Initially appearing as Bret’s cornerman for the King of the Ring Tournament, he turned on Bret and allied himself with Owen. Sources indicate that Owen and Neidhart were supposed to win a tournament for the vacant WWF World Tag Team Titles, but this didn’t happen because Neidhart was fired for no-showing events. In 1996, Neidhart returned to WWF under a mask as “Who”, an enhancement character whose sole purpose seemed to be to allow Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler to make “Who’s on First?”-style jokes during commentary. His stint as “Who” lasted only two months. In 1997, Neidhart once again reunited with Bret and Owen as The Hart Foundation, eventually adding Davey Boy Smith and Brian Pillman. Their run and feud with Degeneration X (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) was a centerpiece of WWF in the earliest days of the Monday Night Wars and after the so-called “Montreal Screwjob” where Bret lost the WWF World Title to Shawn Michaels, both Bret and Davey Boy left the WWF on less-than-pleasant terms. Neidhart stayed and the next night on RAW, Triple H offered him membership in DX. Neidhart accepted, but it was all revealed to be ruse as DX beat him down. Neidhart faced Triple H the next week and lost, with Triple H spray painting “WCW” on Neidhart’s back. Neidhart left the WWF after that and returned to WCW in January, 1998, where he began teaming with Davey Boy Smith, but again nothing really came of his WCW tenure and he left in September. He would wrestle on the independent circuit for several years, making an appearance for TNA in 2009 and returning to the WWE for their 15-year anniversary Battle Royal. Most recently he had appeared on E's "Total Divas", where his daughter Natalya was a featured star. Neidhart has 9 documented Oklahoma appearances. The earliest was February 19th, 1984, where he lost to Butch Reed at MSW events in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and the last was February 13, 1998 for WCW, where he and Steve McMichael fought to a Double Countout.
Former WWF Tag Team champion Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart passed away last week at the age of 63. The news was originally broken by Cauliflower Alley Club president Brian Blair, the former Killer Bee member and longtime friend of Neidhart. “So sad to announce the passing of my friend and longtime colleague, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Your thoughts and prayers for the family are deeply appreciated,” Blair wrote. “The Anvil,” father of WWE Superstar Natalya, made his pro wrestling debut in 1979 and was trained by the legendary Stu Hart, who later became his father-in-law. Neidhart wrestled for Calgary Stampede, Georgia Championship Wrestling, Mid-South, and then found himself working for Vince McMahon in WWF in 1985. In WWF, Neidhart found success tag teaming with Bret “Hit Man” Hart as The Hart Foundation, managed by Jimmy Hart. The two had some epic matches and feuds with the likes of Demolition (Ax & Smash), The Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian), Rhythm & Blues (Honky Tonk Man & Greg Valentine), The Brain Busters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard), The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags), and many others. As The Hart Foundation, Neidhart won the WWF Tag Team titles twice with Bret. He later tag teamed with his other brother-in-law Owen Hart to form The New Foundation. In 1993 he went to WCW but returned to the WWF a year later, teaming again with Owen Hart and later joined Bret, Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith, and Owen for The Hart Foundation reunion. Neidhart had another short stint with WCW and TNA before returning for sporadic appearances in WWE. He was a recurring guest on the "Total Divas" reality show, often seen on-screen with his daughter Natalya. In 2010, he was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, two counts of trafficking illegal drugs, one count of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, and one count of third degree grand theft for property stolen between $300 and $5,000. Two years later, he was sentenced to six months in jail. Jim is survived by his wife Ellie, and his three daughters, Jennifer, Natalya, and Kristen.
More details have started to emerge from the death of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. The website TheBlast.com reported that Neidhart was at his daughter Natalya's home when at around 6:37am, a 911 call came in after Neidhart fell and hit his head, suffering from convulsions and having a seizure. "Caller is saying possible non-breather...she's unable to make access," the 911 dispatcher tells the emergency team on the way to her house. It's unclear who made the 911 call as Natalya was in Roanoke, VA for a WWE non-televised live event and had to go to Greensboro, SC for RAW the next night. The Wrestling Observer adds that Ross Hart, Jim's brother-in-law, confirmed that the death was due to a grand mal seizure. A grand mal seizure is caused by abnormal electrical activity throughout the brain and is related to the Alzheimer's that Jim had been suffering from. Meanwhile, the Pasco Sheriff's Office told TMZ that no foul play is suspected and apart from the fact that he fell, hit his head, and succumbed to the injury, no additional information will be released at this time.
The wrestling world remains stunned with the news of the passing of legendary WWF tag team wrestler Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart at the age of 63. A lot of his former colleagues wrote their thoughts about Neidhart on social media. His former tag team partner Bret wrote, "Stunned and saddened. I just don’t have the words right now." He also posted a photo of the two together with the WWF Tag Team Titles. WWE's Triple H added, "The only thing bigger than his on-screen character was his heart. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart loved performing with & spending time with his family...and he made us all smile while doing it. Thinking of @NatbyNature, @TJWilson, & the entire Hart family during this difficult time." Ric Flair, who did not share much ring time with "The Anvil," but grew closer as both their daughters made their way up in WWE wrote, "My good friend Jim Neidhart, a world class athlete and a man among men. Rest in peace." Smash from the Demolition tag team wrote, "It is terrible I just heard Jim Neidhart passed away. I just pray for his family to get through this. Jim was a great friend and I will really miss him." The Hart Foundation (Neidhart with Bret Hart) and Demolition (Ax & Smash) had a great feud which climaxed at SummerSlam 90 in a 2-out-of-3-falls match.. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, who also wrestled Neidhart multiple times in the mid 80s, added, "Devastating news Jim Neidhart my friend has passed away!! I can hardly believe it. Rest In Peace Brother until we meet again !!!" The Iron Sheik also wrestled Neidhart when they were in tag teams. Sheik lost his former tag team partner Nikolai Volkoff a couple of weeks ago. "One of my oldest friends in the business Jim Neidhart. We travel together I love him forever like a brother. God bless family I never forget you bubba," he wrote in typical Sheik all caps tweet. Eric Bischoff, who was Neidhart's boss while he was in WCW, wrote, "Sad to hear about the passing of Jim Neidhart. Condolences to his family, friends and fans. Jim was an important part of the landscape during one of the most important periods in the industry. RIP Jim." Hulk Hogan also chimed in, having spent many years together with Neidhart in WWF. "I am overwhelmed with grief, love and sympathy by the passing of Jim Neidhart. Love and prayers to his family. He was always with me and a real friend through the good and bad. Love and miss you already, Jim. RIP my brother."
Funeral service for Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart were held on Friday afternoon at the Hodges Family Funeral Home, in Zephyrhills, FL. Several friends of Neidhart were in attendance including Brian Blair, Brian Knobbs, Mick Foley, Haku, Chris Jericho, Steve Keirn, the Hartr family, including Bret Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Jr., Dan Spivey, Ata Maivia, Fit Finlay, Ricky Santana, Dory Funk, Jr., and Stephane McMahon. McMahon flew to the funeral from New York and returned to the city in time for her autograph signing with Triple H later in the day. Weather problems almost prevented Stephanie from making the return journey and Vince McMahon was lined up to take her place instead at the signing if she didn’t make it. Both Natalya and Tyson Kidd were said to be in New York for "SummerSlam".
A Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart collection has been added to the WWE Network.
