The Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame had its induction ceremony last week in Waterloo, IA, which honored Owen Hart, Bruiser Brody, Dan Severn, Ben Askren, and Koji Miyamoto. Stan Hansen and Barbara Goodish were there for Brody while the Hart Family members including Harry Smith, Diana Hart-Smith, Ross Hart, Keith Hart, and Bruce Hart were also there. Miyamoto is someone that Lou Thesz himself would have hand-picked since Miyamoto wrote the first major Lou Thesz biography book and did several photo books with him as well. He's one of the great historians. Adam Pearce from WWE handled the ceremony.

Patric LaPrade of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame Inductions entitled "Hall of Fame honours Booker T, Severn, Hart, Brody, and others" which you can read by clicking here.

Oklafan congratulates Tim Rockwell, who recently urpassed 6 months as WFC Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Mr. Nasty for the title on February 3, 2018 at an event in Claremore.

Oklafan extends condolences to Bayn on the passing of his grandmother on July 26th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Jerry Lawler on the passing of his son Brian on July 29th. Brian was a pro wrestler as well using the names Brian Christopher, Nebula, Grand Master Sexay, and Brian Lawler.

Jerry Lawler spoke to CW 30 in Memphis, TN for a story on Brian Christopher Lawler’s funeral which you can see by clicking here.

NBC affiliate WMC Action News 5 talked to Ted Hansom, the attorney representing the Lawler family following the death of Brian Christopher which took place at the Hardeman County Jail. Hansom said that the family is interested in understanding all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the loss of Brian, who was found hanging in his cell. “It's very difficult obviously for Jerry to lose a child,” he said. “I think every parent can understand." The family is looking to find out exactly what happened before and after he was discovered. The sheriff said that Brain gave no indication that he was suicidal and he was alone in his cell.. “Obviously in this day and time places in particularly jails have video cameras in just about every corner, so it would be interesting to see the actual events,” Hansom said. Hansom added that the medical examiner's report should provide more answers along with a report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. However, so far there is no indication when these reports will be released.

The wrestling world along with family and friends gave their final salute to Brian Christopher Lawler last week as the funeral service was held at Hope Church in Memphis, TN. Brian, a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, was given a custom-made casket sporting the colors of his favorite team and his wrestling theme song was played in the background when he was brought in the church. A few individuals, including his brother Kevin, spoke at the funeral, recounting stories of Brian from when they were kids. A three-minute video montage of Brian’s career played to the mourners before the funeral was over. Several people from the world of professional wrestling attended the funeral including Brian’s former tag team partner Scott Garland (AKA Scotty 2 Hotty), Koko B. Ware, Jerry Jarrett, and others. “This has got to be one of the toughest days of my life. And I’ve heard it once I’ve heard it a thousand times. They say the toughest thing for anybody to do is to have to do is to bury a child. And that’s what we’re going through today,” Jerry Lawler told Memphis’ CW30. “My fiancé Lauren and I are standing next to the casket, and I keep looking down looking down almost expecting Brian to just sit up and start laughing it’s just tough,” he added. CW30 aired a special episode of "Jerry “The King” Lawler’s Classic Memphis Wrestling" show in memory of his son Brian Christopher last Saturday.

Brian Lawler's funeral took place last week in Memphis, TN. Jerry Lawler noted that this was the saddest day of his life. Spellbinder Del Rios, Reggie B. Fine, Kevin Lawler, Tony Williams, and other family members spoke at the funeral. Dave Brown led the ten bell salute. They played his entrance music. They had a little red wagon with photos on display stemming from a little red wagon promo he did early in his career in Memphis. Doug Gilbert was one of the pall bearers. Also in attendance were Scott Garland (AKA Scotty 2 Hotty), Rudy Charles, Matt Riviera, Bert Prentice, Jerry Jarrett, Koko B. Ware, Downtown Bruno, and Bill Dundee.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Nikolai Volkoff, who passed away on July 29th. He had recently spent time in the hospital suffering from extreme dehydration amongst other issues and it is still unclear what caused his death. He was 70 years old. Volkoff, whose real name was Josip Nikolai Peruzovic, was Croatian and competed on the Yugoslavian weightlifting team in the mid-1960s. He emigrated to Canada in 1967 and was trained initially by Stu Hart. Geeto Mongol take him under his wing and The Mongols would be a fixture of the tag team scene in the later 1960s and very early 1970s, with Volkoff working as Bepo Mongol. They won tag team titles in many territories, but split in 1971 after losing the WWWF International Tag Team Titles in a Unification Match with the WWWF World Tag Team Champions Luke Graham & Tarzan Tyler. This led to Volkoff’s first foray into Oklahoma, competing in TSW as Beppo Mongol. He spent March through June of 1973 in TSW competing against Skandar Akbar and Bob Sweetan and sometimes teaming with Dr. X. Volkoff would then make his way into the AWA, where he competed as Boris Breznikoff, but did not stay long before returning to the WWWF, where he would go on to feud with Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund for the World Title. While there, he also competed under a mask as Executioner #3 alongside the other Executioners (Killer Kowalski & John Studd, also under masks). In 1980, Volkoff would depart the WWWF again and spend time in several territories, including Mid-South, where he helped Barry Darsow turn into Krusher Khrushchev. He and Khrushchev would feud with Terry Taylor, The Rock-N-Roll Express, and the team of Jim Duggan & Steve Williams. On May 27, 1984, Williams & Duggan would defeat Volkoff & Khruschev, with Volkoff taking the pin, in a Barbed Wire/Loser Leaves Town Match. Volkoff then returned to the WWF, once again in 1984, where he had probably the most recognizable run of his career. He would team with The Iron Sheik and defeat Barry Windham & Mike Rotundo for the WWF World Tag Team Titles at the first Wrestlemania. After losing the titles back to Windham & Rotundo 3 months later, Volkoff concentrated more on singles competition, challenging Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title, before forming another tag team, The Bolsheviks, with Boris Zukhov in 1987. That team ended when Volkoff embraced the USA and he would spend most of the rest of his career as a face. He engaged in a feud with Sgt. Slaughter in 1991 and then left the WWF. He would return for one last run in 1994, where the story was that he was broke and desperate and forced to join the Million Dollar Corporation, being the guy who “softened up” opponents for other members. He made his final appearance as a regular WWF roster member in 1995 and then entered a period of semi-retirement. Volkoff would continue to compete on independent shows for the next 15 or so years and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He also ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Maryland House of Representatives in 2006. Volkoff competed in 20 documented matches in Oklahoma; the earliest, as Beppo Mongol, for TSW on March 5, 1973, where he lost to Grizzly Smith by DQ and the last for WWF on June 5, 1987, where he lost to the Junkyard Dog.

Nolan Howell of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about Nikolai Volkoff's passing which you can read by clicking here.

The Iron Sheik posted about Nikolai Volkoff's passing on Twitter "MY BEST FRIEND. MY PARTNER. MY BROTHER. WE GET MORE HEAT THAN ANYONE ON EARTH. I TRUST HIM WITH MY LIFE. HE TAKE CARE OF ME WHEN I WAS DOWN. I MISS YOU FOREVER."

WWE issued the following on the passing of Nikolai Volkoff: "WWE is saddened to learn that Josip Nikolai Peruzovic, known to WWE fans as Nikolai Volkoff, has passed away at age 70. Best known for his dastardly, WWE Tag Team Championship–winning union with The Iron Sheik, Volkoff’s in-ring career spanned the better part of 40 years, which featured battles against the likes of Sgt. Slaughter, Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino. As one of the greatest villains sports-entertainment had ever seen, Volkoff’s infamous rendition of the Soviet National Anthem before his matches made him an instant icon in the eyes of the WWE Universe as a Superstar they truly loved to hate. Jim Ross inducted Volkoff into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2005. WWE extends its condolences to Peruzovic’s family, friends and fans."

While throughout most of his career Nikolai Volkoff was hated by wrestling fans for his Russian gimmick, his peers all had wonderful things to say about the WWE Hall of Famer. "My best friend. My partner. My brother," tweeted his former tag team partner The Iron Sheik. "We get more heat than anyone on earth. I trust him with my life. He take care of me when I was down. I miss you forever." The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase also worked in the WWE when Volkoff was one of the biggest heels. "Nikolai Volkoff was a solid wrestler, and more than that, a good man. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my friend," he wrote. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat described Volkoff as a "prince of a man" and noted that you could always find his hotel room because he was always cooking something. Ric Flair also echoed Steamboat's statement about the man behind the Russian attire and called Volkoff "one of the really nice men in the history of our business." You would not even think of putting James Ellsworth and Nikolai Volkoff in the same sentence, but the two men lived close to each other and often shared many road trips together. "I learned so much from him. He was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I’ll miss him dearly," Ellsworth wrote. And Nattie Neidhart, whose grandfather trained Volkoff when he emigrated from Yugoslavia wrote that he was special to her dad Jim Neidhart and the entire Hart family. "We will miss you, Nikolai." Triple H, with his corporate hat on, tweeted, "Nikolai entertained while inciting anger in fans all across the @WWE Universe as an in-ring competitor, but backstage he was a gentle and thoughtful family man. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time." And Jimmy's Seafood Twitter account also sent in their condolences. Volkoff lived in Maryland, where the restaurant is based. "An absolute gentleman through and through. Words will never describe the love, spirituality, and class this man exemplified. RIP Nikolai Volkoff! May God bless your family."

At the NXT event in Phoenix, AZ on July 29th, they paid tribute to both Nikolai Volkoff and Brian Christopher with a 10 bell salute.
