New Era Begins For World Class Revolution Promotion
Posted: Jun 3rd 2018 By: Jordan Fox
The Ardmore, Okla., based promotion, World Class Revolution, had the first episode of their weekly TV series air last night in the Joplin, Mo., area.
I think it was an exciting, well produced and sleek one hour show consisting of three matches at the Griffin Music Hall in El Dorado, Ark.
The show starts off with an explosive intro video with highlights from stars that work for the promotion. We see Chavo Guerrero, Prince Mahali, Ice Man King Parsons, Retro Randy, Fuego Del Sol and World Class Revolutionary Champion Damon Windsor.
Tatanka vs. The “Magnificent” Malico: Solid match; Tatanka received a “you still got it” chant from the El Dorado crowd, and Malico… Well, it is this writer’s opinion that Malico is one of the best all around acts in all of North America. He is amazing in the ring, he is untouchable on the mic and he is unforgettable when in front of the camera.
Tatanka defeats Malico at 10:27 via pin.
Next up, “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” Scott Steiner vs. Tego. Steiner, a former World Champion, looked stronger than ever in the match. Tego, a mainstay in WCR, is regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the state of Oklahoma.
Scott Steiner defeats Tego at 8:20 via submission.
After the match, there is a commercial for World Class Revolution and their weekly TV series on KSN NBC. It shows a lineup of two matches that will be seen next week: Miranda Alize vs. Tenille and also The WCR Tag Team Champions The Von Erichs defending their titles against The Arrow Club.
The main event was next as World Class Revolution Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger put his title on the line against Matt Sydal. Swagger, accompanied by his wife Catalina, looked to be in the best shape of his career. He had his hands full with Sydal though. The two went back and forth with Sydal even trying to convince Catalina to open up her third eye. This was a great match between two professionals.
Swagger defeats Sydal at 10:29 via submission.
Ring intros were done by the very talented Mitch MaCoy, and the commentary team was made up of veteran wrestling commentator CM Burnham and Southern Wrestling Hall of Famer “The Arab Legend” Al Farat.
I spoke to the owner and CEO of World Class Revolution, Jerry Bostic, about WCR’s first episode.
In a written statement, he said, “We’ve waited a long time and worked hard to fine tune everything to present what we believe to be great television. It’s a very special moment… not just to myself, but to those of us who have worked hard for this since day one of World Class Revolution / Imperial Wrestling Revolution, to the amazing people we have brought in along the way, and to the people who still have so much value but just need a platform to show it. This is merely the beginning of what is a huge day in our journey; however, this journey is far from over, and we are prepared collectively to do this for the long haul. Life often times is about sticking together and weathering the storm. That’s what a lot of us have done, are doing, and will continue to do. Our eventual goal is to stand united and to challenge WWE at the top of the wrestling ranks. This won’t happen right away as we continue to build toward that together. The key word to everything we do is ‘together.’ The World Class brand once stood as one of the most elite brands in professional wrestling. It’s going to do the exact same thing again.”
