The Scoop

NEWS
Jeff Jarrett will be filming a "Table for 3" segment next week. WWE is filming tons of shows and documentaries with so many people in New Orleans, LA next week for WrestleMania.
Ethan Carter III returned to NXT television during last week’s episode which was taped a few weeks ago. His return was held off until his Feast or Fired episode on Impact Wrestling aired on television, which eventually did last week. EC3 walked out to the ring after William Regal announced that a new title, the North American Title, will be introduced at "NXT Takeover: New Orleans". EC3 thought that it was nice for Regal to give him a big contract, new theme, and all that but didn’t think that he’d go out of the way to give him a new title belt as well. Regal was not impressed with EC3’s arrogance and then informed him he won’t be getting the title because he would have to earn it. Regal then made a 6-Man Ladder Match for the New Orleans show to determine the inaugural champion with EC3, Ricochet, Killian Dain, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, and Adam Cole.
WWE Network will be premiering its Andre the Giant collection on Monday.
The world premiere of the HBO/WWE Andre the Giant documentary took place Thursday night in Los Angeles, CA. There are some historical issues that longtime fans would notice but they tried their best to make it as accurate as possible and it was as in-depth as an 85 minute documentary has the time to be. The movie itself debuts on HBO on April 10th from 10pm to 11:30pm Eastern. Hulk Hogan comes across as the star of the show and Vince McMahon also comes across very well. Among those in attendance Thursday night were Vince Vaughn, Hogan, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Gennady Golovkin, Rey Mysterio, Jr., The Big Show, Mark Henry, Jimmy Hart, Andre's nephew Boris Roussimoff, Andre's daughter Robin Roussimoff, Cary Elwes, who co-starred with Andre in "The Princes bride, and Bill Simmons, who was the person who spearheaded the project. The event had a French theme as they had a French car in the theater and the after-party was nothing but French food. There will be another showing of the documentary on April 7th in New Orleans, LA where Vince McMahon will see it for the first time.
Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled "Triple H praises Andre the Giant documentary" which you can read by clicking here.
Paul Heyman, the advocate of WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, will be inducting Goldberg into the WWE Hall of Fame in two weeks in New Orleans, LA during WrestleMania weekend. The news was announced Sunday by WWE.com. This is an interesting pick considering Heyman never managed Goldberg and this will be Heyman's first time inducting someone into the WWE Hall of Fame. The two grew a bit close during Goldberg's second run in WWE and it was Heyman who coached the former champion when it came to promos when he returned in 2016. The two have not publicly commented about the news yet. Heyman joins Molly Holly and Edge & Christian for the Hall of Fame so far, with Holly inducting Ivory and E&C doing the honors for The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley).
WWE Tuesday announced that "Road Dogg" Jesse James will be the one inducting Jeff Jarrett into the WWE Hall of Fame next week. The move comes to no surprise as the two share a long friendship and James was Jarrett’s sidekick when he arrived in WWE. Billed as The Roadie, James was attached to Jarrett’s hip for most of the times and he provided the vocals for Jarrett’s WWE song “With My Baby Tonight” in 1995. When Jarrett’s personal issues came up in the media and he was admitted to a rehab center towards the end of last year, his wife Karen thanked James for always being there for her husband.. The Road Dogg joins Paul Heyman, Molly Holly, and Edge & Christian doing speeches at the Hall of Fame.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that AJ Styles has an MCL injury, and it kept him off WWE live events beginning with the Madison Square Garden event two weeks ago. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Styles confirmed “I’ll be wrestling at WrestleMania.”
WWE Champion A. J. Styles returned to the ring last Saturday night at the non-televised live event in Trenton, NJ. Styles had been out of action for a few weeks due to a leg injury and was kept from any physical altercations until he was cleared. There was a fear initially that this injury might disrupt his WrestleMania plans but during an interview, Styles said nothing will stop him from taking on Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania. Despite returning, Styles kept his in-ring time to a minimum and teamed up with The New Day (Kofi Kington, Big E, & Xavier Woods) to take on Rusev, Aiden English, Shelton Benjamin, and Chad Gable. Styles tagged in during the last few minutes of the match and delivered the Phenomenal Forearm to English for the pin and the win.
Dean Ambrose will no longer be appearing at WrestleMania Axxess. Ambrose was scheduled to be the Premium VIP Superstar appearing on WrestleMania Sunday at 10am. Now, WWE Hall of Famers Sting and Ric Flair will be taking his place, a more than adequate replacement for WWE fans. There is no information regarding tickets, it's assumed that those who are already in possession of an Ambrose VIP ticket will be able to stay in line for Flair and Sting. The Superstars advertised were always subject to change. Ambrose is still recovering from surgery and has not appeared in front of WWE fans since mid-December 2017. He is expected to be out of action for up to nine months.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Ric Flair is scheduled to undergo surgery related to his 2017 hospitalization. Flair will be undergoing a major procedure to have his colostomy bag removed, which will allow him to train again.
Rey Mysterio, Bret Hart, and Andre the Giant are featured in a new Roots of Fight t-shirt collection which you can see by clicking here.
The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2018 and that the induction ceremony will take place July 26-28. Once again, Jim Ross has signed on to be the master of ceremonies at the induction banquet on the Saturday night. Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about the induction which you can read by clicking here.
Jim Ross has made the move to Westwood One, the largest audio network in the United States, after leaving PodcastOne several months ago. His new weekly podcast, titled "The Jim Ross Report", will debut in early April. Westwood One Podcast Network will provide ad sales representation and promotion for the show, delivering relationships and expertise with brand marketers with unparalleled scale and reach. “This proud partnership is an impressive match between two legendary brands – Jim Ross and Westwood One,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Marketing, Cumulus Media and President, Westwood One. “Jim always brings it, which is why he has such a passionate fan base and massive social media following. We can’t wait to share the first episode of The Jim Ross Report with his highly-engaged audience.”
Jerry Jarrett is behind a television pilot that is being filmed on April 26th in Wheeling, WV. The show is called "Olympus Wrestling". They are shooting a pilot with the idea of doing an "America's Got Talent" like format where matches would take place and there would be three judges evaluating both the matches and the wrestlers. Robert Fuller and Jim Cornette will be two of the judges.
This past Sunday on the Showtime season premiere of "Billions," there were references to Ivan Koloff and the Iron Sheik in the dialogue.
Jinder Mahal was the guest on Lillian Garcia' podcast “Chasing Glory” on Monday. You can liten to the episode by clicking here.
Missy Hyatt talks about her her career in wrestling in a video you can watch by clicking here.
Vader underwent open-heart surgery last Sunday and is now recovering in a hospital. His son Jesse White wrote on Twitter that the surgeon said it was a success but the damage was worse than they expected and the road for recovery will be long. Last week Vader said that doctors told him his heart is functioning at 30% only and full surgery was the only way forward. Vader, real name Leon White, is considered to be one of the best super heavyweights in the world of professional wrestling although his success in the ring has yet to earn him a much-deserved spot into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Vader did an interview with Bill Apter before having surgery. You can liten to the interview by clicking here.
Vader tweeted after undergoing open heart surgery on Monday: “Fear no Man Feel no Pain!!!! I am sorry to say the feel no pain is a bunch of BS. Worst pain I’ve ever been in, even worse than getting hit in the back with a shovel by @RealMickFoley.”
Oklafan congratulates Brent McKenzie on his recent engagement to his fiancée Samantha last week.
