NEWS
On WWE 24/7, there's that Legend segment where Jim Ross, Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley, and others discuss wrestling stuff. This week, it's the Monday Night Wars. Anyway, there's a spot where J. R. mentions "Other wrestling promotions" and he says that in order for those companies to be sucessful, the "Big guns" have to dress with the young guys. This could be a shot at TNA considering a while back that the big guys (Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, and others) have their own dressing room.
Beth Phoenix's appearance at the August 15th Ohio Valley Wrestling TV tapings was her final appearance for the developmental territory. She has been called up to the WWE roster full time now.
Lacey Von Erich, daughter of the late Kerry Von Erich, reported to Tampa on Tuesday, August 14th. She is scheduled to stay a week before being assigned to either Florida Championship Wrestling or Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, KY.
Ted DiBiase's son Mike has been training in Tampa, FL in the hopes of landing a WWE developmental deal. WWE signed his brother, Ted DiBiase Jr., a few weeks ago, and is assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling.
TNA has announced that the "Best of Jeff Jarrett" DVD has been delayed until 2008.
TNA has removed Jerry Lynn, Brother Runt, Basham, Damaja, and Martyr (Matt Bentley) from their roster page and have added Black Reign (Dustin Rhodes), Andrew Martin, Rick Steiner, Matt Morgan, & Pacman Jones. The wrestlers that were "released" today were let go from their contracts but were notified by Terry Taylor that they would be booked by a per show basis. Taylor had also told the released talent that if things work out well then they will bring them back under a regular contract. At present, none of the released wrestlers will be heading to WWE. All the released wrestlers are however accepting independent bookings.
Dutch Mantel no showed at the Memphis Wrestling event in Tunica, MS on August 17th and was replaced by Koko B. Ware.
Mickey Grant, the former TV producer from the heyday of World Class Championship Wrestling, was on Geraldo Saturday during his show on the Fox News Channel. He talked about the deaths of wrestlers. World Class was where the warning signs should have hit first. He also plugged a movie he produced called "Gentleman's Choice", which is about the life of Chris Adams.
People magazine's newest edition has a one page story on the untimely death of Brian "Crush" Adams. The story has quotes from Marc Mero and Sgt. Slaughter. Makes you wonder where People was for Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, Davey Boy Smith, and others.
On the WTVT news in Tampa, they did a feature on Brian Adams' death, talking to Brian Blair and Vito. They showed a photo of Kronik, and whenever they showed it, they focused on Bryan Clark as opposed to Adams.
On the Adam Carolla show Tuesday, when talking about the death of Brian Adams, they said they need to have a different age system for pro wrestlers, like doubling, so Adams lived the equivalent of 86 years. They talked about the Von Erichs and former "Partridge Family" star Danny Bonaduce talked about how he's been around Hogan and Hogan is in constant pain.
Beau Dalton left the August 19th SWCW show immediately following his tag team match with Luc Lapointe against Rage & Sage to go to the hospital to have his right wrist examined. It was believed it may have been broken in the match.
Dusty Wolfe's mother is currently ill. Oklafan send its prayers to Dusty, his mom, and his family.
