JR's Blog: SNUKA! @TrishStratusCom Heats Up Ross Report, San Antonio Rumble Weekend, President Trump's Cap

Thanks for stopping by our site. The Q&A's are updated elsewhere here on the site and you can enjoy our podcasts on the homepage by clicking one button. Plus, all the ticket info you may want or need on our upcoming RINGSIDE shows is also listed on the homepage. Thanks.
New Mom Trish Stratus is delightfully honest on our Podcast this week at www.podcastone.com and iTunes where you can subscribe for free and get every week's show automatically downloaded into the device of your choosing. A new show drops every Tuesday night at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET.
This week, old friend and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley joins the show and we discuss a litany of topics ranging from his 100 pound weight loss due in part to @DDPYoga, his current booking on RAW, Holy Foley, Ron Starr's book and why Mick wrote the foreword for the new book and much more. Really a fun show with another compelling guest.
Let's clarify something regarding my remarks on the current Ross Report regarding the passing of Jimmy Snuka. I have no idea if Jimmy Snuka murdered anyone as he is alleged to have done. I have read some of the info regarding the case but, admittedly, I have not followed this matter nearly as closely as some folks. The case has been dismissed and a trial never took place for the murder charges as I understand it. My point was that surely we can allow the family to grieve during these troubling times without the primary focus of Snuka's death becoming the 1983 murder case that will likely never be fully resolved.
It would take an idiot to think that I would ever condone murder or violence of any kind especially involving a peer for the sake of 'protecting the business.'
VIP Tickets for our upcoming RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show at the San Antonio Improv at River Center on Sunday afternoon January 29, just before the Royal Royal at the nearby Alamo Dome are still available at www.rivercitycomedyclub.com. General Admission tickets are $25 and tickets will be available on Sunday January 29 at the venue as well.
The VIP tickets for all our shows gets you early entry into the venue, the best seats in the house, a meet and greet, photo op, personalized autographs and the chance to chat.
Looking forward to participating in River City Wrestling's big event Friday night with a host of top stars on a red hot, pro wresting card. Visit www.rivercitywrestling.net for info and I hope to see you there before the matches for a meet/greet.
Thanks to Eric Bischoff for having me on his Podcast this week and I encourage you to check it out at iTunes and @IHeartRadio.
So many good, pro wrestling oriented podcasts available these days which I see as good thing for all us fans. For our team, this week we will release our 154th show! Thanks to all that support our efforts.
I see this upcoming addition of the Royal Rumble as potentially one of these most compelling broadcasts that WWE has had the chance to tee up since, arguably, Wrestlemania in Texas. Ironically, another Texas Dome is in the picture again and the booking of the Alamo Done is an ambitious endeavor for WWE to attempt to fill.
In a perfect world, after the event concludes on January 29 we will be able to more clearly see what is being built for April 2 in Orlando at Wrestlemania. I see multiple storylines being forwarded in San Antonio along with a jaw drop attempt somewhere along the way as it relates to who wins the rumble match and who leaves Texas with title belts. It's very doable to come out of the Rumble match with multiple stories forwarded including adding more fuel to the still smoldering fire involving Goldberg and Lesnar which looks like it will headline WM33. I'd certainly close the event with the Rumble match if I were holding the pencil as the winner has just punched his ticket to Orlando which feels mighty big to me especially if he winner happens to be the Undertaker.
One of the great things about this Rumble is that there are many, right ways to skin the proverbial, creative cat which allows us to go into the event guessing as to what creative that will be employed to produce the maxim, positive results for the build to Wrestlemania.
Interesting watching President Trump's inauguration Friday that was on wall to wall TV throughout the USA. Interesting in that I had many memorable discussions with Donald in 2007 during the build for the McMahon-Trump Hair Match that culminated at WM23 in Detroit. I'm of the mindset that President Trump got the baseball cap marketing idea from Steve Austin to better make The WWE HOFer and now leader of the free world more relatable to the common man and woman. Sounds crazy I know but one way to 'dress down' to middle America is to put on a ball cap to go with his high dollar, custom made suits. Trump was also defiant to the professional politicos just as Austin was to the WWE hierarchy lead by Mr. McMahon in the Attitude Era.
Really enjoyed calling the Naito vs Tanahashi IC Title bout Friday night on AXSTV for NJPW. This was our second Friday night of four on tap all featuring the recent Wrestle Kingdom 11 content. As great as Omega vs Okada was, and it was an amazing pro wrestling match especially on today's standards of greatness, the IC Title bout won by Naito over the 'John Cena' of New Japan Pro Wrestling is a bout that will stand up over time without question. Naito's evolution in 2016 is auspicious and second only to Omega's meteoric rise up the ladder in the last year.
Stay tuned as AXSTV is preparing to launch on more American cable systems I am told. I watch AXSTV on DirecTV on their channel 340.

Just for fun but I'm taking the Steelers and the Packers to win road, playoff games this weekend. BTW, no wagering, kids, but I can't pick against the Steelers plus until Aaron Rodgers cools off he's the hottest QB in the NFL at the exact right time that he needs to be. HERE WE GO!!
