It's the 11th hour but we're trying to put together a RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show for Summer Slam weekend that would likely be in the midday on Sunday August 21 if we can pull it off. This is not a done deal but we should know soon and if it gets green lighted tickets will likely go on sale next week so stay tuned.
It appears that many folks actually think that WWE had a major role in determining who Brock Lesnar is fighting at UFC 20. My take is that WWE likely had very little to do with UFC's booking of Lesnar-Hunt even though admittedly the matchup is not the best pairing for Brock. UFC would never have any creative say in who a UFC star would face in a WWE ring and I feel the same concept works here too.
The first 60 seconds of the Lesnar vs Hunt fight Saturday night on PPV is crucial for both fighters as it's likely that both men are training for the fight to end long before the scheduled 15 minute time limit allotted it. One can assume that Mark Hunt wlil come out throwing bombs that Lesnar must withstand while Brock looks for a takedown as quickly as possible. I'm still of the mindset that this fight will end violently and conclusively within the first 5 minutes of the fight.
This is one of the most eagerly anticipated live, sporting that events that I've attended in years.
The August 4-7 NWA Fan Fest in #Charlotte is going to be an amazing, fan friendly event that of which I can't say enough good things. The $109 All Axxess, VIP ticket is the best bargain that I can recall seeing in a long while and these tickets are available at www.nwalegends.com. The first night alone features Tony Schiavone, Mickie James the Jim Cornette Experience and RINGSIDE with Jim Ross shows. The All Axxess pass gets you in to EVERYTHING all four days and three nights.
It was on this date in 1997 that WWE presented 'Canadian Stampede" on PPV from Calgary which was one of the best events that I ever broadcast. The atmosphere in the arena was scintillating to say the least. The 10 man tag match was especially memorable and the ending saw Owen Hart gab the in on Steve Austin in a match that resembled an all star game. Pus, I toured the midway and enjoyed a giant, turkey leg on my journey. If you get the opportunity to view this show on the WWE Network don't miss it.
Enjoyed the TNA presentation on Tuesday night on POP TV headlined by the unique and creative Final Deletion Match featuring brothers Matt and Jeff Hardy. This bout had some terrific production elements including no commentary and a 'spot on' music bed running throughout the presentation. This was fun to watch because it was original while still sticking to many of the old school values and principles that many of us enjoy. I applaud both Matt and Jeff for their creativity, their efforts and their desire to present a unique, pro wrestling bout that had a great story going in which provided viewers with significant anticipation and they then delivered a strong performance and outcome.
The Final Deletion match was one of the most unique and entertaining concepts that I've seen in years. Plus Matt Hardy deserves praise for re-inventing himself as a classic villain for this presentation and Jeff, of course, is simply one of the great performers that our biz has seen in decades.
I'm proud to call both brothers my friends and they were two of our greatest signees in WWE while I was working in talent relations. Both Matt and Jeff will join us in OKC on Sunday July 17 for OklaMania and tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.com. For more info on the Oklahoma weekend please check out www.imperialwrestlingrevolution.com.
Going to enjoy the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tonight on the WWE Network. Anxious to hear Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan call the action. That has to be a fun, broadcasting assignment. Will be DVR'ing Lucha Underground, too. My lovely wife is SO happy with me. She's the best!
If the Golden State Warriors, @Warriors, don't win the NBA Title this season how can it be considered any thing less than an epic fail? No, that's not me being pissed at Kevin Durant for leaving my OKC team but seriously, how can it be anything less? This should equate to great TV ratings for NBA hoops as the Warriors, every where outside the Bay Area wil be legit villains and great villains generally equate to strong TV ratings in virtually every presentation.
Great sale ongoing at www.wweshop.com for JR's products here in the heart of the grilling season. Please take a look. Our products also make great gift ideas of wrestling fans.
