NEWS
The #Hatch social media campaign which started two weeks ago and unveiled last Monday night ended up being a WWE 2K17 commercial with a surprise, Goldberg. The commercial involves a bunch of deputies first driving and then walking through the woods at night with their flashlights on. They find the hatch and wire it up with explosives and after they detonate, the door flies away and a shadow of Goldberg is revealed among the smoke, similar to his usual entrance. His theme song then kicks in and out walks Goldberg, escorted by the deputies who found him. ?Pre-order and play as Goldberg,? the commercial then shows before it cuts to Goldberg sitting in the car with sirens on. What is interesting is that when 2K did this before, first with the Ultimate Warrior and then Sting, both of them actually ended up in the WWE. Goldberg and WWE are not on the best of terms and is mostly Goldberg who did not want to be associated with the company anymore. He did however say multiple times that he would like to perform one more time so his son can see him wrestle live. If this first baby step leads to somewhere remains to be seen but at least it?s a step. You can see the commercial by clicking here.

Goldberg has been very very busy on Twitter ever since WWE announced that he will be a major part of the WWE 2K17 video game to be released this fall. Before the commercial aired, Goldberg wrote, ?Wait for it?? and then tweeted ?#IMNEXT!? after the commercial played. He retweeted several comments from fans as well as official WWE accounts. Cesaro said that he?s excited that Goldberg is ?swinging by? and invited him to an uppercut party, a tweet that was welcomed by Goldberg himself who replied, ?On my way.? Mark Henry also said that it?s awesome that Goldberg will be part of the game, with Goldberg thanking him and everyone else for their support. ?Very humbling,? Goldberg said. Meanwhile an easter egg popped up in the trailer and some fans who are very attentive to detail noticed the reflection of the sign ?Suplex City? in the cop car?s window as Goldberg was being driven away. The Suplex City sign shows up at 1:09 of the trailer for one second.

Pre-ordering WWE 2K17 will not only get you the playable character of Goldberg but also two arenas, - WCW Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc, while Goldberg will be available in his WCW and WWE personas. ?After 12 years away from the business, I?m incredibly honored to work with WWE and 2K while following in the footsteps of such greats as Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Arnold Schwarzenegger,? said Goldberg. ?My son was a big part of this coming together, and I can?t wait for him to see his dad kicking ass in a WWE ring through the magic of video games. I encountered the likes of The Rock, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and Ric Flair during my WWE career, and now through WWE 2K17, I?ll be taking on the biggest and baddest Superstars of today ? showing them once and for all that I am still ?Da Man!?? Goldberg last appeared in a WWE ring and on WWE television in 2004 at WrestleMania XX in Madison Square Garden, winning his match against Brock Lesnar. Both men disappeared from WWE after that and the fans in New York let them know what they thought about it. ?Goldberg?s return to WWE action through two WWE 2K17 playable characters, along with the WCW Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc arenas, collectively delivers a unique opportunity to experience one of WWE?s true living legends,? said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K. ?Fans can now relive many of their favorite Goldberg moments, as well as create brand new ones, as they decide ?Who?s Next?? in the virtual ring.? Developed collaboratively by Yuke?s and Visual Concepts, WWE 2K17 is currently scheduled for worldwide release on the PS4 and PS3 systems, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in October 2016.

Goldberg appeared on the latest "Ringer Wrestling" podcast with David Shoemaker on Tuesday. Goldberg made it sound like he is actually thinking about the potential return. He had spoken about wanting to wrestle one last time so his child could see him, but he has yet to find the perfect scenario to do so. The real question is whether WWE can create a scenario he would approve.

WWE is going to start pushing Bill Goldberg with the video game deal as the WWE network released a Bill Goldberg collection of matches Monday. It featured his biggest matches from WCW against Hugh Morrus, Steve McMichael, William Regal, Raven, Hulk Hogan, Dallas Page, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Bret Hart, The Rock, and Triple H.

The first ever encounter between John Cena and A. J. Styles will take place at the "Money In The Bank" pay-per-view this month and it will be Cena?s first match since late December and his first one on pay-per-view since October. The match was announced on WWE.com last week and comes after The Club viciously attacked Cena on his first night back on RAW this past Monday. ?It's been called a #DreamMatch. Now, after 15 years of wondering "what if," @WWENetwork finally brings you AJ Styles vs. Cena @WWE #MITB,? Cena wrote on Twitter after the announcement. ?It?s like WrestleMania comes early,? Styles said in a Facebook Live post. He said what he did to Cena on Monday is just a small dose of what he can do to him come "Money In The Bank".

It should be noted that A. J. Styles was booed heavily at all the weekend shows so there was no issue with fans going with his heel turn.

The WWE Network has released three famous AWA shows, the April 23, 1983 "Super Sunday" show with Hulk Hogan vs. Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA World Title, and Mad Dog Vachon & Verne Gagne vs. Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie & Jerry Blackwell, Eddie Boulder (AKA Brutus Beefcake) vs. Wahoo McDaniel, the April 20, 1986 "WrestleRock" show from the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN with The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) vs. Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin, Greg Gagne & Jimmy Snuka vs. Bruiser Brody & Nord the Barbarian, leading to Verne Gagne vs. Adnan Al-Kaissie, Stan Hansen vs. Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA World Title, Harley Race vs. Rick Martel, Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda vs. The Fabulous Ones (Stan Lane & Steve Keirn) and the December 13, 1988 "Superclash" show headlined by AWA World Champion Jerry Lawler vs. WCCW World Champion Kerry Von Erich in a Title Unification Match.

The site of many major wrestling cards in Fort Worth, TX recently received a historic designation. The Will Rogers Memorial Center was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The complex includes the coliseum which housed wrestling cards over the years including many for World Class Championship Wrestling. Built in 1936, the coliseum was the first performance hall in Fort Worth and is still in use today, mainly for equestrian events and the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The recent designation allows for more available funding for the venue and a level of protection from it being torn down. A new arena facility is planned for construction near the old complex, though the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum will continue to remain in use

Jimmy ?Superfly? Snuka will not stand trial in the 1983 homicide of his former mistress Nancy Argentino as Wednesday, Judge Kelly L. Banach ruled that he is not mentally competent to stand trial. The defendant?s expert-paid witness Dr. Frank Dattilio managed to convince the judge that Snuka suffers from dementia and is unaware of the charges he?s being faced with. While on the stand, Dr. Dattilio said that Snuka?s brain is damaged beyond repair and he has no idea what?s going on around him. The psychologist paid by the prosecution said that while there is some damage to Snuka?s brain, it?s all related to age and there doesn?t seem to be anything that would prevent the former wrestler to stand trial. "Unfortunately, justice suffers when it's delayed," the judge is quoted by the Morning Call newspaper. The investigation of the cold case was re-opened in 2013 by Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin after some excellent work by a couple of journalists working for the Morning Call newspaper who exposed a never-before-seen autopsy report that labeled the death as a homicide.

Judge Kelly L. Banach, who yesterday last week that Jimmy Snuka is not mentally competent to stand trial in the 1983 murder of his mistress Nancy Argentino, has set a new hearing for December 2nd to see if there is any progress and possibly change her decision. As long as Snuka is deemed mentally unfit, the trial will not progress as it is against the law to prosecute someone who is mentally unable to understand the charges. Before the ruling, Snuka's wife Carole took the stand and revealed how her husband thought he was making an appearance at a wrestling event when he was arrested last year according to a report filed by the Morning Call newspaper. "They were all so happy to see me," Carole Snuka recalled her husband saying after he was released on bail. "They all wanted my autograph." The Snukas also requested that they want to move to Florida with their son as they lost their home due to financial problems. The prosecutors did not object to the request and the judge found no problem granting the request either. Carole was joined by her son and Jimmy's ex-wife Sharon at the hearing and they all hugged when the ruling was announced. Sharon is the one who came up with the money to pay the bail for Snuka to leave jail when he was arrested. Meanwhile, a gag order placed on the Argentino family to prevent them from speaking to the media, was not lifted. The Argentino family was not at the hearing.

One thing to mention about the Jimmy Snuka case ruling is that the judge changed the date of the ruling without letting anyone know, most notably the two sisters of Nancy Argentino who have pushed for investigation and prosecution of this case for 33 years. This enabled the judge to announce the ruling without them in the court room.

Oklafan congratulates Brandon Groom, who recently surpassed 6 months as BPPW Heavyweight Champion. He was the champion when the company shut down in June 2014 and was recognized as champion when the company reopened in December 2015.

Gavin Dixon suffered a fractured collar bone. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan congratulates Beth Phoenix on the birth of her daughter Ruby on May 31st.

Oklafan congratulates Seth Allen on the birth of his son Oliver on June 2nd.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Dan Miller, who passed away at the age of 84. Miller, who was the brother of pro wrestler Bill Miller, began wrestling in 1955 and was best known for his tag team partnership with Bill and Ed Miller. Feuds with The Scott Brothers were a major part of Stampede Wrestling in Canada. They also had success in the (then) WWWF, winning the United States Tag Team Titles in 1965 from Bill Watts & Gorilla Monsoon. In the 1970s, Miller formed another successful tag team partnership with Les Thatcher and feuded with Johnny Weaver & George Becker. By 1976, Miller was retired from competition, but would promote wrestling, mostly in the Florida area, for the next 10 years. Towards the end of his career, Miller would capture the TSW North American Title from Skandar Akbar on May 14, 1975 and would hold it until June 5, 1975, when he would lose it to Dick Murdoch. Miller has only 1 documented appearance in Oklahoma, a loss to Dick Murdoch in Tulsa on June 9, 1975.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled "Danny Miller passes away at age 84" which you can read by clicking here.
