Breaking TreyFabe - The Final 50

The editor in chief of Breaking TreyFabe recently had the chance to sit in on a panel and then talk to Shane Douglas, the Franchise, for a short bit at a convention in Pittsburgh, it was an absolute dream come true and total mark moment for someone who had been a fan since the mid-90?s when The Franchise was ruling ECW. Below are some highlights.

-Shane had great love for Ricky Steamboat, talking about when they were in tag matches against Pillman and Austin, even in front of a crowd of 27 one time, Steamboat would insist they put their best effort in the ring and go a full 50 minutes

-Shane also had great love for Eddie Gilbert, who got him not only into Watts territory (spoke highly of Watts as well), but got him into ECW when Shane had all but given up on wrestling. Gilbert told him that he could be the lead heel, something Shane had never been, so he jumped at the opportunity

-Shane stated that if Eddie was 6?5 he?d have been a big star due to his ability to wrestle and mic work, but that due to his size Eddie didn?t get the props/break he deserved

-Shane talked of how The Franchise is a character, and that he is Troy, not The Franchise. He said The Franchise eats different things for breakfast?.what I gathered from this is the importance of creating a character and knowing your character. Shane said that a good character is a mixture of different things one is inspired by from other wrestlers, with a huge heaping of one?s own personality

-The first idea of The Franchise character did come from Heyman, but it was centered around a heel that came to the ring every night wearing jerseys from each sports team?s franchise player?Lemiux, Jordan, etc?.but Shane said hold up, if this guy is really the Franchise, he won?t wear anyone?s jersey but his own. Heyman then saw that Shane really understood the psyche of the character and let Shane run with it his way

-Heyman allowed the ECW staff to be themselves, and for them to grow their characters. Heyman was a genius in that regards as he knew when to give the staff space, and who could carry a character with little input from Heyman. He also said Heyman was a procrastinator who sometimes didn?t figure out the card until moments before bell time

-Despite all the hardcore matches, Heyman always wanted to make sure that a pure wrestler was champion

-Heyman told a funny story of how New Jack went into the crowd with a bleeding head and crashed against a wall leaving blood on the wall, after the match a mother came to Shane and asked him if the blood was fake since her teenage kid went to drink some of the blood off the wall. Shane quickly said ?yeah it?s fake? knowing deep down inside that the kid may have just acquired a disease, hah.

-Shane brushed off any heat with Flair saying he has always looked up to Flair as the complete mixture of great wrestler who can wrestle anyone small or big, and can also rule a mic

-Said that everything in ECW was planned and a bit of a jab to the other companies, for instance the Triple Threat was set at 3 wrestlers as a snub to the Four Horseman, Shane stated that they wanted to do with 3 wrestlers what it takes 4 wrestlers to do in WCW.

-Shane said that Vince was good to him while in the WWF, allowing him to take care of his ailing father, but that it is hard to respect Vince after what Vince said about his mother. He stated that the longest conversation he had with Vince it was about how much Vince admired his mother, so when an interview of Vince that came out in which he slammed his own mother Shane was surprised and wanted to know who got worked, him or the interviewer

-Shane said the problem with wrestling today is lack of how to get everyone over, talked about how two Rumble?s ago Ziggler should have gotten over as everyone else was already pretty much over ? and how in one hour of ECW TV Shane, Spike, Candido, Taz, and Sabu got over and how that one hour was better than any 2-3 hours of TV the big feds put on now.

-Also he dogged wrestlers needing teleprompters these days but admits they have all the athletic ability in the world these days, just need to cut promos better instead of being force fed lines

-Shane stated that Francine got put with him because one time in the locker room when Francine was a rookie, Heyman noticed Shane calming her down as she seemed nervous around the Pitbulls, and that she was only with the Pitbulls as eye candy but was not comfortable in those pleather outfits, being with the Triple Threat suited her personality more

-Lastly, Shane said his favorite part of the business has been the fans, and meeting someone like me who has followed him for so long and being appreciative to meet him. He said the biography he is working on is more about his fans than all of his wrestling stories.

The chief editor and creator of Breaking TreyFabe has moved from Tulsa to Pittsburgh. However, after spending five years in Tulsa, the staff feels that one Final 50 should be released due to the fact that Oklafan can crash again at any moment. 5. Canadian Red Devil ? throughout the years put on many great matches at Compound and spot appearances at other feds
6. Ray Martinez ? speaks English rather well.
7. La Omega de Huracana ? when an unstoppable force and an immovable object have an offspring, you get OMEGA!
8. JB ? since he is also Canadian, he should be in a tag team with CRD
9. Kyle Everlast ? would be ranked higher if he could ever pin JB
10. Max McGuirk ? had to include this 8th generation superstar
11. The Unicorn ? not since Rhino has anyone ever speared like this Elote veteran
12. Colt Cabana ? responsible for the biggest crowd in Sapulpa history since the controversial Bingo Riot of ?97
13. Selena ? best ringside valet out there
14. B-Arthur ? rumor has it Arthur writes Dixie Carter?s promos
15. The Miz ? stared down a luchador at Joe Momma?s pizza one time
16. Chris Sabin ? had the sheer audacity to mess with Breaking TreyFabe staff and paid for it with a solid shoulder block
17. Richie Adams ? some of the best hair in the business
18. Mr. Endurance Sugar Shane Morbid ? amazing performer never afraid to call out Breaking TreyFabe staff while in ring
19. Christopher Fury ? very solid wrestler
20. Phoenix Blanco ? was in the only 5 star match of the past five years when he lost to The Bar Fly
21. Mr. Saturday Night Michael Barry ? bonus points for drinking with TreyFabe staff

23. Robbie Awesome ? the lord of the rings from Sand Springs is a good friend of TreyFabe staff
24. Kid Krazy ? the second coming of a poor man?s Rey Mysterio
