Sting Rumors: Latest on WWE's Interest in TNA Hall of Famer

After playing a video package on Monday?s Raw that featured TNA Hall of Famer Sting during his WCW World Heavyweight Championship run, WWE is reportedly interested in signing the legend when his current deal is over, per to F4Wonline via Wrestling Inc.:

F4Wonline.com reports that Sting was included in those video packages for a reason. Word is that Sting is once again interested in joining WWE. While he hasn't opened direct negotiations with the company, he has sent feelers to WWE about joining them. There is said to be a lot of confidence on WWE's side that Sting will be on their roster eventually.

As a current employee for a direct rival in TNA Wrestling, showing Sting?s WCW success during WWE?s flagship show was a shock to many around the wrestling world.

After hearing about the reported mutual interest from the star and WWE, though, this looks to be the company posturing for a huge free-agent signing further down the line.

This is not the first time rumors of WWE possibly having interest in a deal with Sting, as Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. reported late in 2012 that Triple H was in favor of signing the former champion to a licensing deal after his TNA deal expired.

Sting also expressed in a recent interview with VOC Nation Radio that, ?I?ve always wanted to wrestle Undertaker; I?ve said that for years. And who would not want to work Wrestlemania.?

Add in the fact that Sting was recently named by Zach Linder and Howard Finkel of WWE.com as the best wrestler to never work for the company, and it has become clear that the people in charge are setting the stage for what could be the most anticipated signing in wrestling history.

While Sting is obviously past his prime?the veteran is 54 years old?watching the legend make his WWE debut would be a surreal moment that many hardcore wrestling fans thought would never happen.

There would be endless options for which superstars could tangle with Sting upon his WWE arrival?there is little doubt that a John Cena vs. Sting match would be something the company would buy into?but the WCW and TNA legend would be on a collision course with the Undertaker at WrestleMania.

The two gimmicks have withstood the test of time, and on the grandest stage of all, the possibility of watching The Undertaker and Sting go face-to-face would be something fans would never forget.

This wouldn?t be the greatest technical match, but with both men being quintessential professionals and realizing the magnitude of the situation, each would enter this match in great shape and put on a show for the fans.

As two of the best in-ring storytellers in the business, this would become an instant classic.

Let?s hope WWE follows through and makes this signing happen.
