Kane Credits Paul Bearer with Making Him into the Superstar He Is Today

Kane is the first to admit that if it had not been for Paul Bearer, there definitely would be no Kane.
In an interview with the Navy newspaper The Flagship in Norfolk, Va., the Big Red Machine says the March 5 death of Bill Moody?the man behind Paul Bearer and Percy Pringle?was not only a professional loss for the wrestling industry but also a personal loss for him. Kane (real name: Glenn Jacobs) says that Moody?s character was such an integral part of the storyline that without his involvement, the Kane character never could have been developed.
In some of his first public comments since Moody?s passing, Kane says the outpouring of love and support for Moody has been unbelievable:
Just like everyone else, I was a big fan of Paul Bearer and Percy Pringle, and all of the other names that he went by. It was a tough loss for everybody. We went to the viewing and what was really amazing was there were flowers there from all over the country?really, all over the world. It was nice to see an outpouring of affection from fans all over the place.
Kane's interview with the newspaper was published a day before WWE comes back to Norfolk Saturday night for a house show. It is WWE's first trip back to the Scope since last December's "Tribute to the Troops" holiday show.
Kane tells the newspaper that growing up in an Air Force family gives him a deep appreciation for what service members have to go through in their line of work.
When Kane first debuted, he wore a mask. Since then, he has wrestled both with and without it. He tells the newspaper that he has no preference for wearing it or not wearing it, but when he does wear the mask, his ring work requires ?more body language? and adds ?more mystery?more mystique.?
Kane also tells the newspaper that he has enjoyed the transformation his character has undergone since joining forces with Daniel Bryan. The mismatched pair were told in storyline to undergo anger management therapy, and that led to some very comical moments and their current run as WWE Tag Team Champions:
What?s cool about Daniel Bryan is that I have now been able to do something that I?ve never been able to do before. Kane has always been sort of a dark character. With Daniel Bryan, we?ve been able to add a lot more lightheartedness, some humor and a lot of comedy. It works even better because it?s such a contrast from what I?ve normally done in the past. He?s completely different than any tag-team partner I?ve ever had.
With Moody?s death, Kane seems to be taking another trip to the dark side at least for the short term. He has become involved in the storyline behind the CM Punk-Undertaker match at WrestleMania 29.
On the March 11 episode of Raw, Punk disrespected Undertaker?s in-ring tribute to Moody, leading Kane to come out and chase him away. That prompted a match later in the night between Kane and Punk. Punk wound up clocking Kane with Paul Bearer?s urn and now is holding it hostage leading up to WrestleMania 29.
When asked for a prediction on the outcome of that match, Kane puts it to the newspaper in very simple terms: ?I think Punk?s going to get dropped on his head. There is no doubt about that.?
