Jack Swagger's Elimination Chamber Victory May Be the Most Logical Decision

Jack Swagger won the Elimination Chamber match on Sunday night to become the new No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Though this may not have been the outcome that some fans predicted, to me it may have been the best decision.

Well, sort of.

I have to say that out of this match, that also included Kane, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and Mark Henry, I did not see Swagger getting the win. There was just so much talent from top to bottom, as any of the five men could have won and fans would arguably have been satisfied with the result.

Kane is one of the best big men that WWE has ever seen. His reemergence as a top baby face in Vince McMahon?s company comes directly from his role in Team Hell No, and for many of the WWE faithful a victory by Kane would have been a well-deserved moment for him.

Chris Jericho is another Superstar who is considered one of WWE?s best of all time. Though his latest return is one of many due to his life outside of the business, his fans undoubtedly wanted to see him go over on Sunday night. For them, a match against Dolph Ziggler at WrestleMania 29 for the World Championship would have been a nice bit of booking.

Daniel Bryan is one of the most technically sound Superstars in WWE. He is not 'good' in the ring, he is very good and any match he?s involved in is sure to not only be well received by the fans who truly want the wrestling, but entertaining for the audience as a whole.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Randy Orton is yet another WWE Superstar who definitely gives fans their money?s worth. His ability in the ring and everything he?s accomplished in his career is undeniable. A win on Sunday night could have led to a heel turn that many fans desperately want to see, a perfect lead-in to his World Title match at WrestleMania.

Then of course we have Mark Henry, the fifth former World Champion in this match. When he returned to WWE last week, fans immediately knew that now the World Championship picture would be 400 pounds heavier. He is a great monster heel who could become an instant threat to whoever is holding the title and would have been a welcome addition to WrestleMania.

But Jack Swagger is arguably not the popular choice with many WWE fans. Considering his last run in the company ended on a fairly bad note, there are some who may be questioning the logic of putting him in such a prime spot on WWE?s biggest event of the year.

After all, how many people truly either want to see him elevated this quickly for the second time in his career or believe he has enough star power to make fans want to see him compete for the championship? Though the World Title is currently the secondary championship in WWE, it is still very important. The question is" can Jack handle it if he were to win it again?

The answer to me is yes. Sort of.

Here?s the thing. A rivalry between Jack and Alberto Del Rio needs time to develop. It could work on many levels, most notably Jack?s obvious change in character.

Jack Swagger?s All American persona in which he did nothing but brag about his own accomplishments has morphed into that of what he calls a ?real American.?

And yes, I hear Hulk Hogan?s song in my head every time I hear those words too. Focus, people.

Now, Jack spends a lot of time complaining about the current state of the country. Along with new manager Zeb Colter, Swagger points out that that America?s population has become more racially diverse in the past few years, a fact that he is none too happy about.

In other words, America is not as white as it used to be. What do you think Alberto Del Rio would say to that?

On paper, this looks like a good idea. Two different views, two different kinds of people and a topic that is always on the minds of many Americans. This is where Vince McMahon is at his best, incorporating real-world issues into the WWE storyline.

And this will help Del Rio, a man who is still fresh into his role as a baby face. He undoubtedly will be more vocally supportive of America and especially the different races of people who live here. This will get him over as for the first time, his character will see how pointless it is to disrespect anyone because they are a different color or come from a different social and economic background.

And Jack Swagger will be spewing forth the elitist attitude that he has been giving fans since he returned.

Add in the fact that both men are very good in the ring and this has all the makings of a great feud. But again, WrestleMania may be too soon for it to take place, especially if Swagger walks away with the World Championship.

Jack Swagger?s Elimination Chamber victory may not have been predicted by the majority of WWE fans, but it is something different and presents a WrestleMania match-up that we have not seen before. It has elements that could take it a long way, though without the proper time invested in it there is no predicting just how successful it will be. But I for one am looking forward to it.
