WWE News: Goldberg Responds to Ryback Diss: 'Show Some Respect'

WWE News: Goldberg Responds to Ryback Diss: 'Show Some Respect'

Posted: Oct 15th 2012 By: mikeiles

In the latest issue of WWE Magazine, the company's newest sensation, Ryback, addressed the similarities between he and former WCW star Goldberg in a revealing interview (h/t Wrestling Inc).

"I do this because I have a passion for it, and that's the biggest difference between Goldberg and me. I'm not here to make five million dollars and then walk away. I'm here for life," he claimed.

"And, I firmly believe that I'm much better than he was in the ring. I feel I'm a better athlete and wrestler than Goldberg ever was, and people are going to see that over time."

Having clearly read the comments Sunday, Bill Goldberg's response was immediate, tweeting:

Bill Goldberg
@Goldberg

Better athlete? Come on dude wake up.....

Goldberg's former WCW colleague, Scotty Riggs, was the next to comment, tweeting:

Scotty Riggs
@REALScottyRiggs

?@Goldberg: Better athlete? Come on dude wake up.....? -- Take it as a complement that the kid is unsuccessfully trying to outshine you!!

...to which Goldberg then added:

Bill Goldberg
@Goldberg

Case closed! RT @ItsEvanSlater: Ryback is a better athlete than @Goldberg? I don't remember seeing Ryback play in the NFL. #ShowSomeRespect.

Considering Ryback's somewhat derisive remarks, it should come as no surprise that Bill Goldberg chose to respond, especially due to the high-profile avenue in which they were made.

But it is interesting that the focus of his response was on the "better athlete" portion of the original comments, and not the fact that Ryback questioned his motivation for wrestling.

A star in WCW, Goldberg's short tenure in the WWE was unfortunate, and it left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

His final match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX is remembered for the way both departing superstars put very little effort into the fight.

Though the similarities between he and Ryback are undeniable, the question of who's a better athlete and wrestler is one I'll leave up to you to answer.

What do you think of Goldberg's response? Who is better?
