WWE/TNA News: Sting Still Has WWE and Undertaker on His Mind

Seemingly every year, rumors pop up about Sting finally making the long-awaited jump to WWE.

While he still punches his time card for TNA, the man in black, white and sometimes red face paint has made it known that as recently as 2010, he was a hair away from joining WWE (h/t whatculture.com).

Be it his undeniable loyalty to his employer or otherwise, Sting is virtually the only big-name wrestling star of the last three decades to not work for Vince McMahon.

Well, unless you count the last-ever Monday Nitro?just acquired by WWE at the time?which pitted Sting against Ric Flair in WCW's farewell to the masses.

Technicalities aside, though, fans still haven't seen Sting live on Raw, SmackDown or, for that matter, interact with any contracted WWE wrestlers.

Of course, the one WWE superstar both Sting and members of the WWE Universe have been pining after is an epic clash with Undertaker.

Over the years, the very notion of a feud between them has evoked feelings of regret from Sting, who still cannot help but think about the possibility.

In an Oct. 12 interview with PhoenixNewTimes.com, Sting continues to not discount the possibility in the future, leaving the WWE door open just a little.

Here are some select quotes:

So, I don't know, especially now that I will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. They may just turn the page at that point. I have no idea.

You just never say never.
[I've] always wanted to have one real cool thing with Taker.

Another positive sign of a future move to Stamford is that Sting mentions in the interview how he was able to ask for and receive WCW footage of his career from WWE without any issues.

Certainly, even if he were to eventually make the transition to WWE, Sting is not one who should be heavily featured on TV or work a full-time touring schedule.

Although he still retains an impressive amount of athleticism, the "Stinger" is 53 years old and in the twilight of a very noteworthy career.

That being said, a WrestleMania bout against Undertaker would be celebrated as a one-time only dream match that has been 20-plus years in the making.

Lastly, if Sting were to stay beyond such a point, the best way to utilize him would be to use his star power to catapult at least one budding talent to main-event stardom.
