NEWS
Jerry Lawler's son, Brian Christopher, provided an update on his father's condition on Wednesday "Ok, here?s the latest real update. Lauren and I are here at the hospital in Montreal. He does not look good at all. He is responsive to questions that he is asked which is very good. His sedation and breathing support are being lowered slowly right now. He was shocked a total of 7 times at the arena and underwent a balloon stint to open up a clogged artery when he arrived at hospital. Everyone out there needs to say a special prayer for his brain at this point, please. Tests on his brain will not be available until the morning. One of us two will keep all you guys informed as we know more".

As of Thursday of last week, Lawler was still recovering in a Montreal hospital but is walking around the hospital, having full conversations with family and friends, and doing phone interviews. It looks as though he will make a full recovery. He was released from the Montreal hospital on Monday and flew home to Memphis to continue his recovery.

The WWE corporate jet with Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon landed in Montreal just minutes after 12 noon yesterday to transport Jerry "The King" Lawler and his family back to his home in Memphis, TN. Meanwhile, Lawler sent in his first tweet following the heart attack Sunday, wishing the best of luck to JBL for the pay-per-view. "I also want to thank the thousands of fans and friends for the outpouring of well wishes and concern for me. I love the WWE Universe," he wrote.

Jerry Lawler?s son Kevin Lawler stated that his father was experiencing chest pains Saturday in Aruba, where Lawler was participating in the Caribbean Wrestling Bash independent tour. He also stated that Jerry was told that once he recovers, there is no reason that he should not return to wrestle.

Jim Ross posted on Twitter "The King is moving around and eating. In great frame of mind. Getting better by the day. All good news. On road to full recovery.#WWE". A few days later, Ross posted on Twitter "@JerryLawler still hospitalized in Montreal but doing well. Better every day. Just needs to go slow & heal. Hopefully, will go home nx wk".

On the replay of RAW that aired on Mun2 and on Universal HD and in most foreign markets, everything related to Jerry Lawler (not his match but all the stuff later) was edited off the show. You would not have known anything happened. Michael Cole had gone into studio and re-voiced over the rest of the show. All shots that would have shown Michael Cole were edited off, as were shots in the tag match where you could see problems in the background.

In a Tout video message Jerry Lawler recorded from his hospital, The King said that he resembles a bionic man with "more wires coming out of me than AT&T." The fifteen second video was the first direct communication of Lawler to the WWE fans. "I want to thank the WWE universe for all their well wishes. Thank you all," Lawler said. WWE later posted a photo on his Facebook page of Lawler sitting on a chair in hospital as he smiles while eating stake, potatoes, and salad. You can see the Tout video and photo by clicking here.

On his Twitter, Jim Ross addressed the many questions he received about Jerry ?The King? Lawler being at the Night of Champions pay-per-view on Sunday to do ringside commentary. ?For Last time, King will NOT be @ NOC PPV. He had a HEART ATTACK Mon. Ask ur parents 2 explain,? he wrote. But he then said that Michael Cole won?t be going solo obviously although he stopped short of revealing who will be his broadcast partner in King?s absence. ?I Suggest u watch,? Ross wrote. It?s interesting to note that reports are that JR is in Boston and could fill in for Lawler if requested.

John Bradshaw Layfield replaced Jerry Lawler for the broadcasting suties at WWE's "Night of Champions" pay-per-view event this past Sunday.

John Bradshaw Layfield did RAW last night, but he's leaving Friday to attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro so won't be on RAW next week. Layfield said, "I was very rusty, especially at times, but had a blast" in regard to the show. He also noted the trivia that he, Jerry Lawler, and Dutch Mantell were all born on November 29th. Of course John was born in 1966, while Lawler and Mantell were both born in 1949. Layfield said he weights 245 pounds which is the lightest he's been since the age of 20.

Jerry Lawler posted on Twitter "Sorry I can?t be at Night Of Champions tonight, but I understand JBL will be taking my place. I wish him the best of luck! @WWE @JCLayfield. I also want to thank the thousands of fans and friends for the outpouring of well wishes and concern for me. I love the WWE Universe!"

At "Night of Champions" Michael Cole updated the fans in the arena and the fans watchin PPV that Jerry Lawler will be going home to Memphis later this week. The fans in the arena began chanting "Jerry!".

Several mainstream media outlets covered the Jerry Lawler story from last Monday's RAW as the incident blew up on Twitter and other social media sites. Yahoo! Sports, Los Angeles Times, CNN, ABC News, CBS News, TMZ, The Examiner, Huffington Post, New York Post, Fox News, The Daily Mail and The Sun in the United Kingdom, and others all carried articles on their front page regarding the incident. The story on CNN.com was the most read article on the website at one point, even more popular than stories related to 9/11 during the morning. The #PrayForLawler and #PrayForJerry hashtags were constantly trending worldwide on Twitter during the night and even as of Monday morning.

Jerry Lawler had a packed weekend prior to his heart attack, appearing at two shows in Aruba for Caribbean Wrestling Bash before flying to Canada for the live RAW. The WWE Hall of Famer was involved in an angle with Roddy Piper and a wrestler for CWB, where he was attacked during an interview segment. Lawler eventually fought back with several left jabs, a dropkick and then his signature piledriver. Former TNA Knockout Velvet Sky was on the same shows as Lawler and said that he seemed to be in great health. ?Just did Pipers Pit with @JerryLawler In Aruba on Fri & he seemed 2 be in great health so I know he will pull thru this. God Bless u King,? Sky wrote on her Twitter. Lawler did in fact seemed to be in great health throughout the show and even wrestled on RAW, only to suffer the heart attack around 30 minutes later.

According to Dave Meltzer, Jerry Lawler?s father passed away at about the same age ?The King? is now (62) from a heart attack. It is well known in the wrestling community that Lawler doesn?t use recreational drugs, but the word is that he doesn?t undergo regular check ups. Lawler did wrestle over the weekend in Aruba, thus had a long plane ride to Montreal for last Monday's RAW.

Video of Jerry Lawler's appearance in Aruba, complete with a piledriver on Chasyn Rance is available by clicking [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I55aKKzCkTA]here[/url].

Jerry Lawler's girlfriend did a short interview with WMC-TV in Memphis, TN and she said that when Jerry awoke from being sedated he asked if they were still in Aruba and then said his chest hurt from the CPR.

Ardal Ocal of theScore Network posted on Twitter last Tuesday night "Before the Smackdown tapings in Ottawa tonight, Michael Cole received a warm reaction as opposed to his typical boos. #Smackdown". This is more than likely the crowd's response in support of Jerry Lawler.

The wrestling community was obviously shaken by the news of Jerry Lawler as his heart attack during the live RAW broadcast resulted in tons of messages from his friends and colleagues on Twitter. ?I?m shaken by the news of my friend Jerry Lawler?s medical emergency in Montreal. Hands shaking. Prayers for the King. I feel helpless,? wrote Jim Ross. ?Going to be a long night here in Okla. Wish I was in Montreal. Pray.? Lawler is one of JR?s best friends and the two share a special bond from years of broadcasting together. ?Praying for The King. Get well soon,? wrote Scott Hall, an individual who has often found himself on the other side of these messages with his troubled past. ?My prayers and thoughts go to ?The King? as he finds his strength in his recovery,? wrote Vickie Guerrero, often the butt of jokes from Lawler on RAW. ?Best wishes and prayers to @JerryLawler one of my favorite people in the WWE,? said Chris Jericho. ?King has been a champion for 40 yrs and he?ll beat this too!? Celebrities like Maria Menounos, Dennis ?Mr. Belding? Haskins, Billy Corgan and others ? all big WWE fans ? also sent their best wishes on Twitter. Other Superstars and Divas such as Layla, Natalia Neidhart, Lita, Wade Barrett, Bret Hart, Howard Finkel, David Otunga, The Iron Sheik, Shawn Michaels, Diamond Dallas Page, Christopher Daniels, Brian Hebner, Mickie James, Velvet Sky, and others. Several others appear in videos that can be found on YouTube, such as Bill Apter, Sheamus, and Ric Flair.

In one video from TMZ.com, Nick Hogan, the son of Hulk Hogan, commented that he thinks Lawler should retire from wrestling. You can see the TMZ video by clicking here.

After seeing Jerry Lawler's on Tout speaking to the WWE fans, Hulk Hogan posted on Twitter "It was really great to see The King Jerry Lawler looking so great and with a smile on his face, long reign the King. HOLLYWOOD4LIFE".

Ric Flair appeared on HLN TV via phone to discuss Jerry Lawler's heart attack in a four minute segment. The host asked Flair if he thinks Jerry did the right thing to get in the ring at 62 years of age with someone who is around 30 years younger than him. "I think he did the right thing," Flair said, adding that according to his knowledge, "The King" was in good health. "Age is a number, that's all it is," Flair added, something that he really can relate too as he is still performing. Flair said that Jerry Lawler loves being in the ring and he's doing this for fun and not doing it for money as he has lots of money saved from over the years. The host brought up the fact of Lawler receiving so much love and support from hundreds of thousands of fans and asked Flair if he was surprised by the reaction. "I would be surprised if he didn't," Flair said. He said that Jerry has been respected in pro wrestling by millions for over 40 years and he's a hero to a lot of people. Flair added that he would have been really disappointed if Lawler didn't get that reaction from wrestling fans. You can see the segment by clicking here.

Don't count New Jack as one of the many professional wrestlers wishing Jerry Lawler well wish. New Jack posted on Twitter "Just heard about Lawler?f*ck that racist motherf*cka?die slow, you f*cking cock sucker". "If lawler dies, let me know where his grave is so,I can go piss on it?f*ck that bitch". "Please let me know where they put that f*cka in the ground so,I can piss on his grave."

Some of the DVD and BluRay releases WWE has on schedule for 2013 include "Mick Foley Biography" in April and "Goldberg" in June.

TNA President Dixie Carter relayed her best wishes to Jerry Lawler via a message on her Twitter account, joining the hundreds of friends, co-workers, and people in the business in sending prayers to the WWE Hall of Famer. ?The thoughts and prayers of TNA talent and staff are with @jerrylawler and his family. Get well soon,? tweeted Carter yesterday. Several TNA Superstars and Knockouts sent in their messages as well including Christopher Daniels, Kurt Angle, James Storm, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, Gail Kim, and others.

Prowrestling.net reports that Lex Luger will induct Sting into the TNA Hall of Fame this October at "Bound for Glory" in Phoenix, AZ according to the Busted Open satellite radio show.

In an interview with Steve Gerweck of Gerweck.net, WWE Legend Jake ?The Snake? Roberts talks his upcoming book, losing weight with Diamond Dallas Page?s Yoga, Jerry Lawler?s situation, the passing of ?Macho Man? Randy Savage, why he turned in heel in the WWF, the reason he left WCW, Wrestlemania III and working with Alice Cooper, past mistakes, never winning the WWF title, the history of The DDT, and more.
