NEWS
WWE recently signed independent wrestlers Kevin Nickel and Ryan Collins to developmental deals. Collins has been wrestling for about five years as Brian Breaker for Harley Race?s World League Wrestling, while Nickel has been known as Killer Nikels in several independent feds, including Traditional Championship Wrestling where he was managed by Boyd Bradford.

WWE has added The Fabulous Freebirds to their Alumni section.

Michael Hayes wrote a song called "Freebird Road" in tribute to Terry Gordy, who was one of the greatest 300-pound in-ring performers in pro wrestling history. Gordy was a headliner at the age of 18 and a worldwide superstar at 22. Gordy & Steve Williams to this day are considered one of the greatest tag teams in the history of wrestling, and The Freebirds were a landmark trio in North American wrestling. Michael Hayes really owes his career to Gordy's loyalty and friendship, something he'll readily admit. The release coincides with the 11th anniversary of Gordy's death. The song is a takeoff on "Brickyard Road," which was Johnny Van Zant's tribute to his late brother Ronnie.

Several former WWE superstars were on the 1000th spisode of "Monday Night RAW" live in St. Louis, MO on Monday. Those former superstars include X-Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Jim Duggan, Roddy Piper, Mae Young, Mick Foley (as Dude Love), Trish Stratus, Slick, Bret Hart, Howard Finkel, The Acolyte Protection Agency (John Bradshaw Layfield & Ron Simmons), Vader, Doink the Clown, Dallas Page, Bob Backlund, Rikishi, Sgt. Slaughter, Road Warrior Animal, Sean Mooney, and Gene Okerlund. Mae Young's appearance was backstage and she was shown on screen with her date for the show, her "son" who was a man dressed like a hand. Others who haven't been seen on RAW in quite some time that were also on the show include Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, and Shawn Michaels.

Kyle Schadler of BleacherReport.com wrote a 2 part story entitled "Wrestling Gold: The History of the WWE United States Championship" and in the story he highlights every wrestler to hold that title starting in 1975 when the National Wrestling Alliance awarded the title to Harley Race, although the NWA announced Race had defeated Johnny Weaver in a tournament final. DirecTV and Viacom settled their dispute last week and all Viacom channels are back on DirecTV programming including Spike, which carries TNA.

Last week, TNA announced the signing of Chavo Guerrero, Jr. He is a former WWE superstar and the son of Chavo Guerrero and the nephew of Hector Guerrero.

There?s a new group forming inside TNA Wrestling called Aces & Eights, and for the past three weeks they have been wrecking havoc with TNA World Champion Austin Aries and Bobby Roode being their latest victims. On "Impact Wrestling" last week, the group attacked Aries as Roode stood in the corner watching the beat down. After Aces & Eights were done with Aries, Roode offered his hand, however the handshake wasn?t something the group was looking for and they proceeded to attack Roode as well. Sting and Hulk Hogan were their first victims. The group sporting hoodies and masks have still not made their identities public however there are several wrestlers who have already posed as part of the gang. Former WWE Superstar Luke Gallows has been one of them as well as Mike Knox from the WWE?s version of ECW. TNA agent D?Lo Brown has also played a part in the gang although he won?t likely be one of the final members of the group when they are revealed. Reportedly, Wes Brisco, son of Jerry Brisco, has also been working under the mask as part of the group as well. Aces & Eights is two-pair poker hand called Dead Man?s Hand in the card game. Jeff Jarrett officially announced yesterday that Kurt Angle would be his partner against Electroshock & L.A. Par-K on August 5th at Asistencia Asesor?a y Administraci?n's "Triplemania" event where the losing Roldan (Joaquin & Dorian) in their corner will get his head shaved. Angle has been rumored to be on this show for a while now and it has been confirmed.

Konnan and Mister Saint Laurent recently interviewed Tully Blanchard on a golf course and Konnan talks about how Jim Ross wanted to put he and Brian Pillman together as a tag team in WCW. You can listen to the interview by clicking here.

Scott Hall has noted that his son Cody's trainer for pro wrestling is Chasyn Rance at the Team Vision Dojo. He and Larry Zbyszko have helped out at times with everyone's training at the school, but Rance is the trainer.

There was a story in Friday's Huffington Post interviewing Billy Corgan and talking about his Resistance Pro Wrestling promotion and his brother being involved as a performer. Corgan said his all-time favorite wrestler was Ric Flair and talked about a reality TV show on the promotion.

Jimmy Snuka appeared last Thursday night at the West Michigan Whitecaps minor league baseball game near Grand Rapids, MI as part of 80's Night. He threw out the first pitch. He didn't exactly reach the catcher, but Snuka is almost 70. He signed autographs through most of the game.

After living nearly his entire adult life in Bixby, OK, Cowboy Bill Watts, now 73, has moved to Miramar Beach, FL in a beach home on the Gulf of Mexico.

On Tuesday's episode of Comedy Central's "Tosh.0", they aired a home video of a guy hitting another guy who was rapping in the back of the head with a 2x4 and show host Daniel Tosh called the guy "Blacksaw Jim Duggan".

All licenses issued by the Oklahoma Athletic Commission expired on June 30th and you will need to renew. In addition, as of January 1, 2012 all new wrestling license applications must also have a blood test for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV.
