WWE Should Bring Back ?Halftime Heat? During the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Posted: Feb 5th 2012 By: mikeiles

During the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXIII, the WWE had the first and only ?Halftime Heat? special on the USA Network in which the Rock defended his WWE Championship against his rival Mankind in an Empty Arena match.

In the match, the two superstars fought all around the arena in Phoenix five days prior to Super Bowl Sunday, until Mick Foley?s persona of Mankind trapped the Rock under the weight of a fork lift?s load of kegs to get the win and regain his WWE Championship.

With over 111 million people in the US watching last year?s Super Bowl between the Packers and Steelers, the WWE could seize a great opportunity to gain new fans to watch the product when fans don?t want to watch a mediocre halftime show before the second half begins in the game.

Now, the most important thing about the WWE bringing back the ?Halftime Heat? concept is this: What match or matches would be held in the window between the first and second halves of the Super Bowl?

Even though it's a bit of a dated match, I think the WWE could have an Empty Arena match as a yearly tradition during the halftime show so they don?t have to worry about needing a crowd in attendance during the special.

Instead of just a one-on-one contest in an empty arena, the WWE could have either the WWE or World Heavyweight Champion defend their title in a Championship Scramble match that would last the duration of the halftime show.

As I know this is bit of an improbable idea, the return of the "Halftime Heat" special would be a win-win situation. Wrestling fans could get to see an awesome match and the WWE would get some good media exposure at the same time.

So, Bleachers, do you think it would be good for the WWE to put on a special during the halftime show of the biggest sporting event of the year like they did in 1999?
