Cast-Iron Cothern's last match in California will be this Saturday at the Insane Wrestling League event in Chino. IWL allowed him to pick his final opponent and he chose Tyler Bateman. The two have not faced each other since they have both relocated to California. It has been announced that the match will be Cothern's last as he is hanging up the boots and moving back to Oklahoma.

Jim Ross posted the following on Twitter after the conclusion of last night's RAW: "Tuf nite @ ofc. I?m w/ King and he hurting. Announce table unforgiving. Not sure how he?s going to be. Jerry?s hurting 4 real." Apparently the table was supposed to be a gimmicked, but for some reason, it was not.

TNA's "No Surrender" pay-per-view had a snafu in the Wednesday night airing in the United Kingdom. After an interview with Austin Aries, it cut to a commercial. When they came back, they only showed the finish of the Aries vs. Brian Kendrick match. Then it cut to a commercial after the Rosita interview and never came back, meaning none of the main event (Kurt Angle vs. Sting vs. Mr. Anderson) aired. Kevin Banks noted this was not the first snafu since TNA moved to Challenge TV.

Nobody is really talking about what the Hulk Hogan retirement speech was all about last Wednesday at TNA's "Impact Wrestling" television tapings. It was positioned like it was the end of Hogan in TNA. If this is really the case, it would be pulling the rug out from under the company just weeks before a show they've spent months building up and leave Sting, who has been pushed as the biggest babyface, without a match. Hogan being able to physically do a match has been questionable for some time as his last ditch back surgery came with the caveat that he absolutely couldn't take any falls.

Ric Flair suffered a left arm injury in his match with Sting at TNA's "Impact Wrestling" tapings last Monday. Between the injury to Flair and Sting forgetting spots, this match had to be cleaned up a lot in editing before it aired this past Thursday night.

During the NASCAR RaceDay pre-race broadcast on Sunday, host Johnathan Roberts (nicknamed Johnny TV and, ironically, JR) said ?you gotta quote the great one, Ric Flair ?To be the Man, you gotta beat the Man!??

Macleans, a major Canadian magazine, ran a story Thursday on the Abdullah the Butcher/Devon Nicholson lawsuit. Nicholson said that Abdullah has still not provided blood work regarding the suit.

The Wrestling Observer reports that The Bill Goldberg return and tour of The Republic of Congo under the USA to Africa Pro Wrestling Mission company headed by Rick Bassman, that was set for October has been moved to February.

Roddy Piper posted the following on Twitter following his neck surgery last Tuesday: "(1) Haven?t slept since Saturday. The Tweet I just posted I messed up. Doctors put me on slab Monday at 12 noon. (1) Can?t get to a computor as I?m catching my breath. Doctors put me on thr slab Monday at 3 PM. Came back to 130 am Tuesday. Operation ? (2) the doctors operated for 6.5 hours. I woke at 1 am Tuesday. At 3 am Tuesday I walked half the hospital hall ways by myself ? (3) Broken neck is fixed. Have to stay in Hospital 10 days. I think I can get OT done in 5 days."

There was an article in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune talking about Ed Asner, the famous actor, who is in town doing a play where he's a one man show playing Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It noted that he left the party to promote the play early to have dinner with a friend, Verne Gagne. Gagne did a movie called "The Wrestler" in the mid-70s and Asner, who was already an award winning TV actor for playing Lou Grant in two popular television series, was the star, playing the role of a wrestling promoter in Minneapolis. It?s a movie that every wrestling fan should see because it's a good depiction of pro wrestling in the 70s. Asner was also good friends with the late Bob Orton Sr., Randy's grandfather, as they grew up and were rivals as high school football stars.

Joel Jones, who wrestled as ?Outlaw? Joel Deaton for Jim Crockett Promotions during the mid-80s, is back in jail in Georgia after violating probation. Jones, 52, is registered as a sex offender in the state, after serving five years in Dodge Prison from 2000-2005 for two counts of aggravated sexual battery for crimes he committed in 1993. He had resurfaced last year and taped some shoot interviews as well as booking for Grady Odom?s upstart Georgia Championship Wrestling promotion earlier this year.
