- The recent Deep South show that featured Ric Flair vs. MVP at Six Flags over Georgia drew 1,500 fans.

- Trish Stratus actually text messaged Ric Flair prior to her retirement match on Sunday to ask "The Nature Boy" if she could do his patented chops.

- WWE Vice president of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis was not in favor of the Greg Gagne hiring for developmental talent, and in fact, Gagne was hired because Stephanie McMahon made the call. Not only did Laurinaitis not like him, but Bill DeMott and Jody "The Assassin" Hamilton in Deep South didn't like sharing their responsibilities with him, and went to great lengths to have Gagne axed. Apparently Gagne was not well received by many of the WWE developmental talents.

- Jim Ross will be co-announcing the main event for this Tuesday's ECW on Sci Fi show live from Tulsa with Joey Styles. Ross was on a local Tulsa area radio show and he said that he would be at Tuesday's show to co-announce with Styles. He also said that this would be the first time in which the two would be broadcasting together.

- Nattie Neidhart, daughter of Jim Neidhart, is scheduled to work one week in Deep South. If all goes well, she is likely to be offered a WWE developmental deal.

- There are reports that Jim Cornette is still trying to get TNA to sign Matt Morgan, but right now it doesn't look likely that it will happen.

- Speaking of Cornette, he is scheduled for all of the October events in Ring of Honor.

- TNA has joined forces with the Earl Hebner owned United Wrestling Federation to run house shows around the country. TNA & UWF announced a joint show scheduled for November 10th at The New Alhambra in Philadelphia, PA. The New Alhambra was originally named Viking Hall until 2004, but most wrestling fans know the arena by its unofficial name, The ECW Arena. A.J. Styles is among some of the TNA superstars that are scheduled for the event.

- TNA announced last week they would make a "major announcement" at the "No Surrender" pay-per-view event on September 22nd. The announcement was thought to be leaked last week with the rehiring of Vince Russo to the TNA creative team in light of recently declining television ratings. Russo will work with Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel on the new creative team. Announcer Mike Tenay and Scott D'Amore have also been removed from the creative process. Due to the rehiring of Russo, it is rumored that many TNA talents will not be renewing their contracts & that any potential deal with Bill Goldberg is off the table. There are other reports that since word got out of Russo's re-hiring, the locker room morale in TNA has gone down quite a bit. A lot of the workers who are friends with Scott D'Amore are afraid that they may see less of a push with him no longer a part of the booking squad. Russo was able to get his fingerprints on the PPV, changing a few of the finishes. However, at the end of TNA's "No Surrender" pay-per-view on September 24th, Jim Cornette made 2 more major TNA announcements with TNA going to a 2 hour format on October 16th followed by the announcement of TNA signing of former Olympic Gold Medalist and WWE World Champion Kurt Angle.

- TNA Director of Talent Relations Terry Taylor & former TNA booking agent Scott D?Amore will host a training camp in conjunction with NWA Midwest on November 11th. Taylor was recently named commissioner of NWA Midwest.

- Toy Biz's TNA double packs series 3 are now up for pre-order at Ringside Collectibles (www.RingsideCollectibles.com). The set includes Raven & Sabu, The James Gang, and Jeff Jarrett & Sting. The set is scheduled to ship in mid October.

- Sting will appear on "Praise The Lord" on TBN on September 28th at 9pm Central but will probably be announced by his real name, Steve Borden. Check local listings for times and channels in your area.

- Ring of Honor announced that Bruno Sammartino taped an edition of the Straight Shootin' Series last weekend. The shoot was hosted and conducted by Jim Cornette It should be available to purchase in October.

- Chavo Guerrero Sr. is putting together an Eddie Guerrero Trust Fund Benefit Golf Tournament for college funds for Eddie's daughters, on October 21st in Tampa, FL at the Summerfield Crossings Golf Course. On October 20th, there will be a public autograph session to raise money at Cherry's Riverview locations. Among some of the wrestlers who are involved in the tournament are Roddy Piper, Greg Valentine, Jack Brisco, and Brian Blair. For more information you can call (813) 610-6800 or go to the website at www.geocities.co.jp/Colosseum-Athene/1956/11.html

- It was announced at the Great Championship Wrestling event in Columbus, GA on September 23rd that Jerry Oates has retired from wrestling and also sold controlling interest in GCW.

- The Universal Wrestling Federation will open the UWF School of Pro Wrestling on October 18th at the Timboctu Arena in Ardmore, OK. Classes will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For more information check out the UWF website at www.officialuwf.com.

- With Michael Barry's IZW Heavyweight Title win over Aaron Neil on September 16th, he joins Glen Steel, The Prophet, Rocco Valentino, and Ryan Davidson as local wrestlers that are dual champions. Barry defeated Jake Boulder on July 22nd in Harrison, AR for the All Star Wrestling Heavyweight Title.

- Jeff Brown, who has wrestled in MSWA and NWA Oklahoma tagging with his brother Jerry, announced his retirement on September 15th. The Brown Boys have held several tag team titles mostly in Texas and are considered one of the best tag teams currently in Texas. They have also been known as The Bluechippers and The New Legacy. While holding the Professional Championship Wrestling Tag Team Titles, they had a violent feud with Adam Thornstowe & Jack Dalton. Brown cited a recurring shoulder injury and the birth of his daughter as his reason to hang up the tights.

- Robert Gibson of The Rock-N-Roll Express served as one of the pallbearers for his brother Rick's funeral last week. Rick Gibson, a 25 year veteran of pro wrestling, passed away on September 15th at the age of 52 after suffering a heart attack. His obituary and a tribute story about his career written by Freebird Michael Hayes can be viewed at www.wrestlingfigs.com/inner2.php?id=3260&page_id=1
