- WWE Classic Superstars Series 12 should be released to stores by mid-October and will include The Ultimate Warrior, Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, Jimmy Valiant, The Brooklyn Brawler, Brian Knobbs, Jerry Sags, Lou Albano, Killer Kowalski, and Hulk Hogan.
- Court TV will be covering the hearings regarding Ric Flair's alimony to ex-wife Beth this fall. Beth is currently receiving $275,000 per year from Flair, and wants significantly more.
- Mick Foley needed 25 stiches last night after his match with Ric Flair. Unless things change, Foley's last appearance for the time being is on the August 21st edition of "Raw."
- The first hour of this week's WWE MSG Classics airing on The MSG Network will be from December 17, 1979 and entitled "The Birth of Hulkamania" which includes matches featuring Ted DiBiase and Dusty Rhodes among others.
The second hour is entitled "Tag Team Turmoil" and includes matches with Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog, Fatu, Smash, and B. Brian Blair.
MSG is channel 621 on DirecTV and channel 412 on Dish Network. Cox Cable in Tulsa and Oklahoma City does not offer MSG. Check local listings for channels in other areas.
- WWE announced that October 21st is the release date for two new DVDs entitled "The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA" and "Born Into Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story".
- At the August 19th TV taping of Ohio Valley Wrestling, a considerably deflated-looking Chris Masters challenged anyone in the house to the Masterlock challenge. Brent Albright, Chris Masters' former tag team partner, answered the challenge. Masters then hit Albright in the head with the mic, applied the Masterlock on Albright and put him out. Masters & Albright were known as The Troubleshooters and are former Ohio Valley Wrestling Southern Tag Team Champions.
- At the Ohio Valley house show on August 20th, The Untouchables defeated Brent Albright & Shawn Spears.
- Ohio Valley wrestlers Charles Evans and Boris Alexiev were both recently signed to WWE developmental deals. Alexiev is the wrestler that Jim Cornette slapped for no selling a Boogeyman angle, which led to his firing.
- At the TNA Impact TV tapings on August 14th, a Fatal Four Way singles match was held. It featured Chris Harris representing America's Most Wanted, Kazarian representing himself & Matt Bentley, B.G. James representing The James Gang, and Chase Stevens representing The Naturals. The winner of the match would be named the #1 contender for the NWA World Tag Team Titles for he and his partner. Stevens won the match when he pinned Harris after hitting Harris with a pair of handcuffs that Harris' partner James Storm dropped in the ring. The match aired on Impact on August 17th.
- Also at the August 14th TNA TV tapings, The Latin American Xchange (Homicide & Hernandez) defeated A.J. Styles & Christopher Daniels to win the NWA Tag Team Titles. The match airs on Impact this Thursday, August 24th. It was reported that Styles was busted open very badly during the tapings and needed 8 stiches to close the wound.
- Speaking of Styles and Daniels, the two faced each other in Newville, PA for International Wrestling Cartel on August 19th.
- Current Ohio Valley Wrestling Women's Champion and former NWA-U star ODB was backstage at the August 14th TNA Impact TV tapings looking for work. She is working in OVW without a developmental deal. Friends Gail Kim and Traci Brooks are trying to get her hired.
- One more news to note from the August 14th TNA Impact tapings is that Ron Killings and Monty Brown have both requested their release. TNA Director of Talent Relations Terry Taylor tried to convince both to remain with the company but nothing has been decided as of yet.
- The planned main event for the TNA No Surrender pay-per-view on September 24th in Orlando, FL is Samoa Joe vs. NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett in a non-title Fan Lumberjack Match. Among other matches on the card, A.J. Styles & Christopher will get their rematch against LAX (Homicide & Hernandez) for the NWA World Tag Team Titles. There is no plan to use Sting at this pay-per-view.
- The planned main event for the TNA "Super Bowl" pay-per-view on October 22nd in Plymouth, MI is NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting in a Title vs. Career Match.
- There is talk of doing a Konnan vs. Jim Cornette verbal war of words.
- King Kong Bundy is scheduled to face Chris Cronus in Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling on September 3rd at Gargano's Pizza in Cleveland, OH.
- Speaking of Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling, they are selling DVDs from their shows featuring Jim Duggan, Abdullah the Butcher, Tracy Smothers, and many more. The DVDs can be ordered on the CAPW website at www.CAPW.net.
- At the Professional Championship Wrestling "Full Throttle" TV tapings on August 19th, Action Jackson, who was known as Perry Jackson while working for Bill Watts in the UWF, tagged with Wally Darkmon, Mike Foxx, & Shadow (TNA's Lance Hoyt) to defeat Nobe Bryant, Colossus, Franco D'Angelo, & Robert Evans in a Steel Cage with a Ladder Match in the finals of The Fight-Win-Survive Tournament. As a result, all members of Team Thomas will get to be PCW General Manager for a night.
- Former IZW Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader returns to New Japan on September 3rd at Korakuen Hall. It will mark his first appearance in NJPW in more than a decade.
- Current IZW Tag Team Champions The Re-Gex (Seth Shai & Mace) recently captured more gold, this time down in Texas. They won the Championship Wrestling Productions Texas Tag Team Titles on August 5th by defeating Kyzer Douglas & Marshall Law. Mace also won the Christian Wrestling Alliance Tag Team Titles on July 29th when he tagged with "Dr. Death" Steve Williams to defeat Ricky Jackson & Apocalypse.
- Former SRPW star Adam Thornstowe continues to reign as the Supreme Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Oliver John with a handful of tights at the August 14th SPW show. Later in the card Thornstowe took a 3-1 advantage in his Best of Seven series with J.D. Bishop. Thornstowe will be tagging with Trent Hemridge as The Rejected on August 25th in Antioch, CA defending the BRAWL Tag Team Titles against a mystery team. Thornstowe replaced Luster the Legend on the team.
- Also on that SPW show, X-Cal made his SPW debut and was pinned by SPW Extreme Champion Rik Luxury in a 6 Way Challenge that also included El Hijo de Chupacabra, Flynn, Steel, and Mike Rayne. The "California Observer", which is northern California's version of C.M. Burnham, says that X-Cal reminds him of Low Ki, who is now known as Senshi in TNA. The 6 Way Match was said to be the match of the night and possibly the best match in northern California all summer.
