Two-Cents Worth: The Ladder & The Pryor
Posted: Jun 27th 2009 By: mikeiles
Hey folks, J-Dub here, bringing you up to speed on the latest happenings in the Maximum Wrestling Alliance. To say the least, this last show was one that was filled with confusion and disarray, but nonetheless, the action that you can come to expect from the MWA. My boss, Director of Operations Raymon Downey, was extra busy this time, as he had a lot of things to address, the first of which I will talk about at a later, more appropriate time.
Before the action was able to begin, Blake Albright announced that he had injured himself, and according to doctor?s orders, he would be unable to compete, much to the dismay of the fans. He was originally slated to face ?Handsome? Jack Legacy, one half of the current Southern States tag-team champions. However, Legacy had to adjust his game plan a little in order to prepare for ?Mr. Endurance? Sugar Shane Morbid.
?Darling? Dustin Heritage (w/?Handsome? Jack Legacy) v. Canadian Red Devil
In a quietly brewing feud that has been brewing for quite sometime, the Canadian Red Devil, one half of the Compound Varsity, was pitted against a familiar foe in the form of Dustin Heritage, one half of the Jetsetters. This rivalry may not be as intense as some of the others that are in the MWA, but over the course of the past few months, the Jetsetters and the Compound Varsity have faced each other a number of times, whether it be in singles competition or in tag team matches. One has to think that these two teams will one day be battling for the MWA tag team titles, but that would not be the case on this night. The action was as fast and as hard hitting as I?ve seen between these two teams. Although Heritage had his tag team partner with him, he was unable to get the victory over the Medicine Hat, Alberta native, leaving the fans to wonder, ?what?s that aboot?? (Note the Canadian accent, eh.)
Winner: Canadian Red Devil
?Handsome? Jack Legacy (w/?Darling? Dustin Heritage) v. ?Mr. Endurance? Sugar Shane Morbid
Legacy was at an obvious disadvantage in this contest. He was prepared to wrestle Albright, however, he ended up facing Morbid, as I stated before. However, the disadvantages I?m referring to are his recent concentration on tag team matches, Morbid?s size advantage, and the fact that Morbid has been undefeated in the MWA to date. So, Legacy brought a little reinforcement to the ring in the form of his tag team partner, Dustin Heritage, who was sporting a new hairdo. Regardless, Jack Legacy done the one thing that he needed to do in this match?make Morbid wrestle his (Legacy?s) type of match. That?s exactly what Legacy did. Though Morbid has been on a hot streak as of late, it is certainly a little cooler now, after losing to the Toast of the Coast. Perhaps Morbid?s focus is somewhere else right now?perhaps, Russia? No matter, a loss is a loss, and that?s what Legacy gave Morbid.
Winner: ?Handsome? Jack Legacy (w/?Darling? Dustin Heritage)
?Mr. Saturday Night? Michael Barry (w/Lars ?All? Manderson) v. ?Eliminator? Jim Fallon
After finding out that Michael Barry?s original opponent wouldn?t be able to compete for the evening, DOO Raymon Downey decided to put Fallon in the ring with Barry, a match that the master of the Saturday Night Special would take lightly for only a short time. Paraphrasing the old adage, Fallon may not be the biggest dog in the fight, but he is definitely the biggest fighter. Not only was Fallon able to take everything that Barry threw at him, he was able to surprise Barry and his cohort, Lars ?All? Manderson, by landing several huge and impressive moves. In what many people consider the match of the night, Fallon was able to ?eliminate? all doubters, proving without a doubt that he has what it takes to make it in the MWA. While Barry was able to get the win, MWA fans can rest assured that they haven?t seen the last of Fallon.
Winner: ?Mr. Saturday Night? Michael Barry (w/Lars ?All? Manderson)
Texas-Foreign Legion (?Terrific? Tim Rockwell & Boris Saarikoski, w/?Big? Stevie Caballero) v. Old School Express (?Space Cowboy? Jason Jones & ?Big Country? Jake Boulder)
After last month?s heinous attack on Jake Boulder, and Bernard Funk?s ensuing suspension, Caballero employed the services of his newest member, Saarikoski, as Rockwell?s partner as the Old School Express were looking to simply get revenge. Jones and Boulder didn?t care if Rockwell would have resurrected the late, great, Andre the Giant, and brought him, though Saarikoski is huge in his own right. OSE did not care?they were just looking to kick some tail and get a little of that revenge I was talking about earlier. After a pretty evenly fought match, Caballero instructed his guys to do a little bit of cheating, as per the norm, however, this time getting his team disqualified. Afterwards, ?Mr. Endurance? Sugar Shane Morbid stormed to the ring, and spit a Great Muta-like mist into the eyes of the huge Russian, in an attempt to extract revenge for May?s attack on Morbid by Saarikoski. Where does that leave us? On July 10, the Texas-Foreign Legion (Funk, Rockwell, and El Famoso) will fight OSE & Morbid in a six-man tag team match. Regardless of the outcome, the OSE will get a shot at the tag team titles the next night in Pryor inside of the steel cage. As for Saarikoski?as of press time, Big Stevie Caballero faxed over a shoddy doctor?s report stating that the huge Russian has Temporary Inner-Optical Refractory Paralysis and will be unable to fly from his mother country next month. I haven?t gotten to deliver the note to my boss, DOO Raymon Downey, as of yet, but it sounds like Caballero may be full of Inner Refractory BS, if you know what I mean. More on this story as it develops.
Winners: Old School Express (?Space Cowboy? Jason Jones & ?Big Country? Jake Boulder) by DQ
Ladder Match to Crown Inaugural MWA Max-Division Champion
Damien Morte v. Brett Taylor v. ?The O?Rageous One? Rage Logan v. El Super Colibri v. ?Broken Arrow Bad Boy? Justin Lee
In an attempt to crown the first MWA Max-Division Champion, the MWA Board of Directors decided to employ the services of some of the greatest high-flyers in the state in one of the craziest matches in the MWAs short history. In a scary, yet disgusting moment, during the match, Brett Taylor got hit in the face with a ladder, which then lacerated his face above the eyebrow. After temporarily removing himself from the match to go to the back to see the MWA trainers, he came back with a fresh and more vengeful perspective. During his absence, the crowd was treated to some very intense, high-flying action. The newly re-united team of Nemesis (Rage & Logan) pulled no punches while trying to make history. Justin Lee continued to show off his lack of self-concern by putting his body on the line more than once. At one point, El Super Colibri climbed to the top of a ladder that was about three feet shy of reaching the moon to deliver a vicious leg drop. Later, with all the other participants lying on the outside of the ring, Colibri ascended to the top of the ladder and the Max-Division by claiming the title and becoming the first MWA Max-Division champion.
Winner: El Super Colibri
Well, there you have it folks. Another card, and another bit of history made. As we have stated recently, whether you are a wrestling fan or not, please come out and support Trina Wheeler, as she needs a lung transplant. July 11, 2009 at the Pryor Junior High Gym, $5 will not only help her and her family, but it will also treat you to some great pro wrestling action. This is going to be a great card ladies and gentlemen.
But, that?s just my two-cents worth,
J-Dub McG
