A letter to wrestling
Posted: Mar 21st 2009 By: mikeiles
I've seen a couple of friends write a letter to wrestling.
I'll jump on this bandwagon...
Dear Wrestling,
You have given me an outlet to my creative mind.
You have given me friends that I want, friends that I need, friends I dislike, and friends I don't need.
You have given me people I can call fans.
You have given my trucks, airline miles, and body many distances.
You have given me strength.
You have given me weakness at times.
You have given me many stories to tell that I thought were cool and crazy stories at the time, but I look back on them and frown a little and just learn from them. In my opinion, when I sat down with an African boy in Orange Farm, South Africa who told me that education is very important since nobody can take that away from me is a better story than getting drunk at bars and clubs every week after a wrestling show in many cities and motorboating unfamiliar women in many states.
You have given me confidence at times when I had no confidence in my personal life.
You have persuaded me to move several times to call brand new places home.
You have hurt my body on numerous occasions with many hospital visits and even gave me a scar due to surgery which has affected my credit score to this day.
You have given me an outlet to advertise me as a real person to people who want to lose all sense of realty in a suspended way for times in their lives.
You have given me many fond memories with lots of footage to show my family generations down the line.
I can't give you credit to my entire life, but I can give you credit to portions of my life. I learned how to separate you and balance you. I am forever thankful for that.
In closing, thank you Wrestling for being that thing that broke down walls in my life to enable me to do more and experience more to become the guy I am today and the guy I will be tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Mitch
