Two Cents Worth: Halloween, Elections and MWA...What A Week!!

Two Cents Worth: Halloween, Elections and MWA...What A Week!!

Posted: Nov 5th 2008 By: CMBurnham

Well, the old cliche of "if you want something done right..." is absolutely true. I just got back from voting, and I must say that in my small community, we had a record turnout. Upon returning, I seen that my good buddy, Jack Money, had written the predictions for this month, like I asked him to, but it just doesn't have the J-Dub touch, like I wanted, so let me give you my two-cents worth.

El Super Colibri v. "Handsome" Jack Legacy
Colibri still has yet to find his groove in the MWA. I'm not taking anything away from the talented high-flyer, but facts are facts (Lord, don't let Burnham see that I've typed that), and Colibri has yet to win in the MWA. Jack Legacy is a proven winner, and if I may quote Big Stevie Caballero, "if you want to be a winner, you bet on a winner." Though Legacy's partner as of late, Michael Barry, won't be there, Legacy can get the job done. He has before, and I think he will again.
J-Dub's Pick: "Handsome" Jack Legacy

Canadian Red Devil v. Johnathan Cross
Jonathan Cross, who made the card in place of the injured Michael Barry, is one of three wrestlers making their debuts for the MWA. I don't know much about Johnathan Cross, but from what I've heard, I'm anxious to see him in action. He's not going to have any easy night, though, as the Canadian Red Devil will look to put a damper on what good be an exciting night for Mr. Cross. As crazy as it sounds, the Devil will be the man on the Cross this Friday, and I think he will be able to get the victory over the big man.
J-Dub's Pick: Canadian Red Devil

X-Cal v. Bernard Funk
It has been argued that X-Cal is the top high-flyer in the state. He's going to have to pool all of his resources both on the mat and in the air, if he hopes to gain a victory this Friday. He will be the second of three debuting wrestlers for the MWA on the seventh, and he does not have an easy night waiting for him. Bernard Funk is returning after a month-long hiatus, and a well-rested Bernard Funk is going to be hard to overcome.
J-Dub's Pick: Bernard Funk

Dustin Heritage v. Max McGuirk
Max McGuirk debuted for the MWA last month, and I must say, was quite impressive by not only defeating the Disco King, but also winning a 12-man Battle Royal to earn the #1 contender spot for the MWA title. Making his debut this month is Dustin Heritage. Heritage is another guy that I have yet to watch, but he looks like he has the tools to make Max have a long night. This match may be a sleeper for match of the night. Either way, I think McGuirk is going to continue being on a roll.
J-Dub's pick: Max McGuirk

Old School Butt-Whoopin' Match
Old School Express v. Gentlemen Thugs
The Old School Express and the Gentlemen Thugs have spent the last quarter of the year embroiled in what may turn out to be the feud of the year. It would certainly have my vote. The prize: respect and the Southern States Tag-Team titles. Last month, the two teams hooked up in singles matches as "Big Country" Jake Boulder fought Cast-Iron Cothern and "Space Cowboy" Jason Jones fought "Mr. Endurance" Sugar Shane Morbid. The teams split victories (with Cothern and Jones getting victories in their matches), but the Gentlemen Thugs have the ability to get the victory and the titles in what is sure to be a tough brawl.
J-Dub's Pick: Gentlemen Thugs

In addition to all that, Blake Albright and Tim Rockwell will both be in the house, and I have a feeling that this feud is far from over. They are not scheduled, but I wonder if either one will have anything to say about their bitter rivalry. The world may soon know.

I had been busy with some other duties given to me by the MWA higher ups, but I went ahead and took the time to write this column. Stay tuned though. I'll have Jack Money do some more stuff in the near future. Be looking for my next dirty-dozen question interview in the near future. Well there you have it, that's my two-cents worth.

I'm J.W. McGillicutty, and I approve this message.

Later,
J-Dub
