James J. Dillon was recently interviewed and was asked when he was contacted by WWE about doing the Ric Flair tribute on Raw. He said Howard Finkel called him Tuesday of Wrestlemania week, asking if he would be interested. Dillon said he and Tully Blanchard were confirmed the next day, and flew in for Raw during Wrestlemania. Dillon said the day of the Ric Flair tribute was a long day. He and Blanchard arrived to the building at 2PM, and wasn?t given any details of the tribute until about a half an hour before the segment started. When asked if he thought Flair would stay retired, Dillon replied, ?I don?t know.? Dillon said Flair has had some financial difficulties in recent years.

During the same interview, Dillon was asked about Michael Hayes. He said he has a lot respect for him, and never saw the racial side of the man. Dillon said he hoped Hayes remained in the business as he has a good mind.

With Michael Hayes serving his 60-day suspension for his racial remark, Christopher DeJosephs (Big Dick Johnson) and Ed Koskey are the interim head writers for both ECW and Smackdown. DeJosephs has been the head writer on ECW since Dave Lagana was fired, and Dusty Rhodes left for developmental. The Hayes suspension surprised many within WWE, as several viewed Hayes as "untouchable." The general feeling is that Hayes will to return to work when his 60-day suspension ends.

Jim Ross will be speaking soon to WWE developmental talent in Tampa, FL.

Georgia Wrestling Promotions had a disatrous show on April 27th and it looks like the fed may be folding. The arena was owed money by the company and threatened to close the show. An agreement was made that the arena would get the money from the receipts but the attendance was somewhere around 20. The talent normally would get paid by the gate but when they found out they would not be paid several left including Steve Lawler, Terry Lawler, Bill Eadie (Demolition Ax), Tommy Rich, and Cru Jones.

In an e-mail sent to Oklafan last week, NWA Oklahoma will return on June 13th in Tahlequah. They also announced that they will not be recognizing the X Division Title that they had back when the comapny was known as NWA Universal.

Oklafan would like to extend congratulations to Dusty Wolfe who became a grandfather on April 28th.

The following came from GPCW management: "GPCW is in shock over the death of wrestler Jeff Wadell. Jeff was a former member of the New York Express with Jeff and Thomas Knight. He was on the Texhoma Wrestling orginization for 5-6 years. Jeff never held any titles but was well liked by all the wrestlers in and out of the locker room. He was currently working security for the GPCW Staff, and was about ready to make his wrestling come back. Jeff was found dead a friend's home in Lawton Saturday Night. Police say he died of an apparent heart attack and foul play is ruled out. Jeff was 39 yrs old and following an autopsy in Oklahoma City his body will be taken to his hometown in Oregon". Oklafan extends its sympathies to the family and friends of Wadell.
