Help Wanted! Job Opportunities: Rhino

Posted: Oct 13th 2026 By: Brian Damage - RingTheDamnBell.com

Back in the 80’s and 90’s, it was very common to see some no name wrestler go up against a proven star of a promotion. Whether that be from the WWF, NWA/WCW, AWA or elsewhere, these nomads of professional wrestling were there to make the stars look great. They were known as enhancement talent, preliminary wrestlers or as many fans have come to know them…”jobbers.” While fans were clamoring to see big time match ups, these “squash matches” served a very important purpose. While perhaps not appreciated at the time, they were just as important as the stars themselves.

After a year of training and competing on the Canadian independent circuit, Terry Richards received an opportunity to wrestle for WCW in 1995. Although he was used as enhancement talent, he wrestled against several big names for WCW during that time including Hacksaw Jim Duggan, The Renegade and the Nasty Boys. All of which were in a losing effort.

Terry Richards also wrestled as an enhancement talent for the WWF, where he lost matches against the likes of Henry Godwinn and the Truth Commission. Richards would return to the independents and form a faction with future stars in Christian Cage and Edge up in Canada.

After a tour of Europe, Terry Richards received his first big break in the States as Rhino/Rhyno in ECW. He would get a huge push bulldozing his way to winning the ECW Television title twice and the ECW world title once. Rhino holds the distinction of being the last holder of both the ECW TV and world heavyweight titles before the company folded in 2001.

Rhino would also wrestle for WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor and Impact wrestling winning several titles along the way as both a face and a heel. Terry Richards was inducted into TNA’s Hall of Fame.
