NEWS

WWE Vault has a WWE Mixtape compilation featuring Shawn Michaels. Later in the week, they uploaded a full Mid-South Wrestling episode from November 9, 1984, which includes a young Michaels teaming with Mike Jackson against Chavo Guerrero & Hector Guerrero.

Andre Chance (aka Andre Chase) recalls being told outright that he was never going to be on TV when he signed with WWE - then Shawn Michaels saw him wrestle and immediately put him on TV: "If he (Canyon Ceman) said it once on this phone call, he said it 100 times. He said, 'I just need you to know, you're not gonna be a TV star. You're not gonna be on TV at all actually. You are just here to train and work with this next group of guys,' who they had already chosen - Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Tony D'Angelo, the Creeds (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed), Melo (Carmelo Hayes). "I think the idea was if I was gonna be a coach, I was gonna coach the young guys. That was gonna be my class. I enjoy these challenges, I really do. The more he told me on this phone call I wasn't gonna be on TV, I was like, 'Okay, let me in the building.' I just knew I needed to get in. So they were like, 'You're only here for them. You're only here so they can learn from you, so you can teach them. You're not gonna be on TV'. And again, if he said it on this phone call once, he said it 100 times. He was trying so hard to get me to take the coaching job. And I was just like, 'Nope, I'm gonna take the wrestling.' ‘You're gonna take less money?!' 'Yes, I said that.' 'But you know you're not gonna be on TV?!' I'm telling you, every time. ‘Then I report to the PC, and I'm told by the coaches, 'Make sure you understand you're not gonna be on TV.' 'Yes. I've got it. I understand. I'm just supposed to work the PC Lives. I get it. Okay. Fine.' Sure enough, this one day, I'm working a PC Live with Julius Creed. Shawn (Michaels) happens to wander over. He didn't come to every PC Live. It was Julius Creed's third or fourth match, he hadn't had a lot of matches. He was obviously gonna be a tag team with his brother, but he was just having a few singles matches here and there. We had a really good match, and luckily Shawn was there to see it. So afterwards we get feedback and go to the coaches, and Shawn's like, 'Why aren't you on TV?' And I go, 'Oh, I don't know, I was told I wasn't gonna be on TV.' And he was like, 'Well, why not?' And I was like, 'I don't know, they just told me that I wasn't gonna be on TV.' He goes, 'We've gotta get you on TV.' And the next week I was on ‘205 Live’. It only takes that one - literally, your life can change in one match."

C. M. Punk used an old Terry Funk quote to explain his absence from television while returning on commentary for CFFC last week in Rockford, IL. Asked where he’s been since he doesn’t do any CFFC events outside of the state of Illinois and he hasn’t been on TV for weeks, Punk joked by saying, “I don’t travel anymore, my horse is sick!” Later in the show, Punk said that his horse “Terry” was “doing better.” The late WWE Hall of Famer used that term when he did an interview with Jim Cornette, explaining it as a way to avoid doing traveling for WWF and to avoid confrontations with Vince McMahon when he didn’t agree with creative. The story goes that McMahon wanted Funk to be one of Jerry Lawler’s Knights during Lawler’s feud with Bret Hart and he did not want to do it, so he left a note to Vince, saying his horse was sick and had to go back to Texas. When Funk was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame several years later, McMahon's first interaction with Funk was jokingly asking him how his horse was doing. There have been rumors that not all things between WWE and Punk are rosy at the moment and obviously his carefully chosen quote adds more fuel to the fire.

WCW’s YouTube channel put together a compilation video of Sting tag team matches.

Mick Foley will not be in San Jose, CA for the AEW/Consejo de Mundial Lucha Libre/New Japan Pro Wrestling “Forbidden Door” event on June 28th as he had a contractual date for a comedy show in Seabrook, NH, that he did attempt to get changed, but was unable to do so. He has cleared his schedule after San Jose so that he should be available for both “Dynamite” or pay-per-view shows when needed through September as well as in November and December. Foley noted that in 2025 he was busier and on the road more than any time in his life as a pro wrestler and had booked 2026 pretty solid as well before signing with AEW.

As more wrestling personalities continue to share their experiences working with Tommy Dreamer following his departure from TNA, Missy Hyatt has come forward with strong words of support for the ECW legend.
In a post on social media, Hyatt said that all of her interactions with Dreamer over the years had been professional and respectful. “My interactions with Dreamer have always been cordial and professional. I have nothing bad to say about him.” Hyatt went on to praise Dreamer for helping countless wrestlers throughout his career, noting that he regularly recommended independent talent for opportunities in ECW, WWE, and TNA. She also credited him for helping younger wrestlers put together matches that highlighted their strengths and for assisting people behind the scenes who were dealing with personal struggles. According to Hyatt, Dreamer was someone who genuinely cared about helping others succeed. “TNA’s loss and an asset to any company and locker room.” Meanwhile, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale also recently commented on Dreamer, stating that while he believes Dreamer “didn’t evolve with the times,” he also feels that Dreamer’s intentions were generally positive. The comments are the latest in a growing conversation within the wrestling industry as numerous figures share their experiences and perspectives regarding Dreamer’s career and influence.
