NEWS
At the NWA Pro event in Las Vegas on February 10th, Brent Albright had two matches and was involved in a third. He defeated Willie Mac and later Dallas Murdoch. In the 9th match of the evening, Eugene defeated Al Katrazz and was attacked after the match. Albright made the save for Eugene. Perhaps a new tag team is on the horizon?

Shawn Matthews III was offered a developmental contract by TNA last week. He had a tryout with the company prior to the TNA event in Oklahoma City last month.

About 90% of "TNA iMPACT!" is being written by Vince Russo. Dutch Mantel is largely in charge of the women's division. According to numerous sources Jeff Jarrett comes up with the feuds and matches he wants and then gives Vince the task of setting up the angles and storylines around them. Most of the Abyss/Mitchell/Mesias storyline was booked by Mantel with ideas from Abyss.

Highspots.com will be releasing a shoot interview with former TNA tag team The Naturals (Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens) very soon.

The WWE Hall of Fame selections for the class of 2008 are said to be close to being completed. At this point, Mae Young and Ric Flair are considered to be a lock. If WWE can get The Rock for the ceremony, Rocky Johnson and "High Chief" Peter Maivia are considered strong candidates. Dusty Rhodes is pushing for legendary announcer Gordon Solie to be inducted. Jim Ross has unsuccessfully pushed for Solie in the past.

It is said that Dusty Rhodes was told ahead of time that WWE creative writer Dave Lagana would not be returning from his vacation. Rhodes requested not to be given the head writing job for ECW as he didn't want the extra workload and pressure of that position. Lagana was fired by Stephanie McMahon while on vacation.

Dusty Rhodes was present at the Florida Championship Wrestling event at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, FL this past weekend. Rhodes signed autographs for the fans and presented the FCW Florida Heavyweight Title to Jake Hager after Hager defeated Ted DiBiase Jr. to become the inaugural champion.

WWE.com has put up photos from Raw's tour of Japan. One photo features Ric Flair shaking hands with former IWGP Champion Yuji Nagata with the text "East Meets West as Fans Welcome Flair". Another photo features Jeff Hardy posing with another former IWGP champion Hiroshi Tanahashi with the text "Jeff Hardy Branches out with a Japanese Fan". I wonder if the idiots who run WWE.com even following wrestling at all?

Although it was reported a few weeks back that Ric Flair would be taking on Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 24, it now appears that Flair may be facing Batista.

WWE will release "Triple H: The King of Kings" on DVD on March 25th. Matches will include 3 matches of Triple H facing Mick Foley, "King of the Ring" August 6, 1997, "WWE RAW" from August 23, 1999, and "No Way Out" February 27, 2000 which is a Hell In The Cell Match. It also features a Last Man Standing Match against Ric Flair from Survivor Series November 27, 2005. As part of the bonus features, Triple H's first professional match, back when he was known as Terra Ryzing, taking on Tony Roy in Burlington, VT on November 1, 1992. Commentary by Triple H and Jim Ross has been added.

WWE will also be releasing "WWE The Music: Volume 8" on CD on March 25th. The theme music for WWE World Women's Champion Beth Phoenix is on the CD as well as her picture on the cover.

A new internet radio show called "Peach State Pandemonium" debuted on February 16th. Gary Hart is the scheduled guest on February 23rd. The show will air every Saturday from 11am to Noon and since it airs from Georgia, those times are probably Eastern Time.

Showtime is producing promotional material on the Internet to build its fights with Bill Goldberg with a short piece called "Goldberg toe-to-toe," showing Goldberg training with Bas Rutten and Kimbo Slice at www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1C39PCW1Ls.

Andre the Giant's name was mentioned Tuesday in the Congressional hearings by Henry Waxman, who claimed that excessive amounts of HGH killed Andre the Giant Roussimoff. Well, yes and no. Andre died of a heart attack in 1993. Because of his condition, acromegaly, he wasn't going to live a long life and that condition is the over secretion of naturally produced growth hormone. But it would be shocking if Andre ever took any Growth Hormone like athletes would have. The exact quote by Waxman on Tuesday as it regarded Andre was: "We know that HGH can cause problems, because it's actually a disease when the body produces too much HGH. Doctors call it acromegaly. It can lead to diabetes, heart problems, liver problems., kidney problems, cancer and even death. It can also cause permanent changes in the face. We know what these changes look like. The pro wrestler, Andre the Giant, died of complications of untreated acromegaly, and Richard Kiel, better known as Jaws from the James Bond movies, has publicly spoken about his experience with the disease."

In Wednesday's State of the State address, Minnesota Governor Pawlenty mentioned Verne Gagne as one of the great living Minnesotans.

At the Inoki Genome Federation show in Tokyo Saturday, because it's four days before Antonio Inoki 65th birthday they had messages sent on the big screen from Tiger Jeet Singh, Johnny Powers, Animal Hamaguchi, Jeff Jarrett, Dusty Rhodes, Jerry Lawler and Vince McMahon.

Dusty Wolfe is mong the guests on Indywarz Radio tonight at 8pm and can be heard by going to the Indywarz Radio site.

Jake Roberts is nine weeks into his 14 week rehab in Atlanta, GA. Scott Hall and Ron Simmons are both in the same rehab facility.

The TAP show scheduled for February 17th in Muskogee was cancelled due to the torrential downpour of rain on Saturday. No makeup date has been announced.
