The Mt. Rushmore of 1980s Women's Professional Wrestling - Judy Martin

So far it's been all about the babyfaces for my personal list of the best female grapplers of the 1980s, but that changes today. Bad guys...or in this case, bad girls...are what put butts in seats at wrestling shows. When the heel is cast to perfection, money is drawn.
There have been many women who could pull it off, but in my opinion the best to do it gets added to my Mt. Rushmore today. Judy Martin, the beautiful blonde from Myrtle Beach, had a presence which conveyed the invitation to mess around and find out. In one match from her LPWA days, Martin spent as much time chirping at some drunken frat boys sitting ringside as she did brutalizing her opponent. It is worth noting that those young men refused Martin's challenge to leave their chairs.
The great thing about Judy Martin was her ability to cash the check written with her words. In a day and time when women were not known for brutal wrestling moves, Martin employed a devastating power bomb perfected during her tours of Japan. The only male wrestler that I could compare Judy Martin to was Terry Gordy. She possessed that same kind of toughness.
Many will recall Martin's time as a member of the Glamour Girls with partner Leilani Kai. Their championship run with Japan's Jumping Bomb Angels is the stuff of legend. Martin also was a decorated singles wrestler who held the United States Women's Championship for Southwest Championship Wrestling.
Judy Martin gets my nod here because she epitomized everything that a great heel should be. She could generate amazing heat just by looking in the general direction of the fans. Her power made her a very capable bully, yet she was a bombshell. Judy was indeed the one your mama warned you about.
