Several awards were given out at the Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion last week in Las Vegas, NV. Marcus Alexander “Buff” Bagwell received the Men’s Wrestling Award, Sting received the Iron Mike Mazurki Award, and Jim Ross was the inaugural recipient of the Jim Ross Announcers’ Award.
Sting has hinted that he will be at “AEW All In Texas” on July 12, 2025 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. In a message on X, Sting said that the show is "just down the road" from him and he will be watching "from somewhere". The Icon, who retired in March, has not appeared on AEW television ever since his retirement match at “Revolution” and has kept a relatively low profile since then. He was at “WrestleCon” during “WrestleMania” weekend but that's as far as his appearances go lately. Sting was part of the inaugural “AEW All In London” last year, teaming with Darby Allin to take on Christian Cage & Swerve Strickland in a Coffin Match. He retired from AEW undefeated and as AEW Tag Team Champion with Allin.
Ethan Page’s theme music is now on WWE Music’s YouTube channel.

Oklafan congratulates Duncan Kincaid on the birth of his grandson on August 15th.
Oklafan extends condolences to Manico on the passing of his grandfather on August 19th.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Afa, who passed away August 16, 2024 at the age of 81. At the time of this writing, a cause of death has not been announced. Afa, whose full name was Gataivas Afa Amituana'i Anoa'i, but was called "Arthur" for much of his youth, was one of 13 siblings born in American Samoa. He moved to California and joined the United States Marine Corps at age 17. After serving time there, he decided to become a professional wrestler, training under his cousin Rocky Johnson and his uncle Peter Maivia. Afa would debut in Phoenix, AZ in 1971 and after competing as a solo act for 2 years, he would train his brother Sika to join him as The Wild Samoans. They would create a path of destruction everywhere they went. And along the way, they acquired a pantheon of tag team titles. They made their first foray into the WWF in 1980, winning the WWF World Tag Team Titles twice that year. After leaving the WWF, they came to MSW, where they defeated MSW Mid-South Tag Team Champions Ernie Ladd & Leroy Brown for the titles on November 30, 1980. They held the belts for 2 months, losing them to The Junkyard Dog & Karl Kox, then left for a tour of Japan. Returning from Japan, they aligned with Ernie Ladd as their manager and won the MSW Mid-South Tag Team Titles from The Junkyard Dog & Dick Murdoch on May 31, 1981. This title reign was only a month long before they lost the belts back to Murdoch & JYD. After betraying Ladd and aligning themselves with Skandar Akbar, the Samoans would have one more MSW Mid-South Tag Team Title reign, winning the belts on New Years Eve, 1981 from The Junkyard Dog & Mike George. This title reign would prove to be longest as they maintained control of the titles until March 5, 1982 before losing them to The Junkyard Dog & Mr. Olympia. They left MSW in May 1982, went to Georgia Championship Wrestling and beat The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy) for the NWA National Tag Team Titles, but would vacate those to return to the WWF in 1983. The won their third and final WWF World Tag Team Titles from The Strongbow Brothers (Jay Strongbow & Jules Strongbow) and would hold them for 8 months before losing them to The Soul Patrol (Rocky Johnson & Tony Atlas). In one of the oddest points of their career, they turned face and feuded with The North-South Connection (Adrian Adonis & Dick Murdoch) for most of 1984 before leaving the WWF again at the end of the year. According to Afa, he and his brother were fired because Afa missed work to attend the birth of his son. Afa never returned to the WWF, but did open The Wild Samoan Training school where he trained many future wrestling stars, most notably Batista. Alongside his brother Sika, they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. Today, Afa is perhaps best known as the uncle of 2 WWF stars, the late Rosey and Roman Reigns, but 2 of his sons, Samu and Manu, also had runs in the WWE. Afa's final WWE appearance was at the 2020 Hell In A Cell PPV to celebrate Reigns' victory there. Sadly, many records from the late 1970s are sparse and at the time of this writing, only 4 documented matches in Oklahoma involving Afa are known. The earliest was April 18, 1982 where Sika & Afa lost to Mr. Olympia & The Junkyard Dog in a Lights Out Match at an MSW event in Tulsa. And the last was May 16, 1982 where The Wild Samoans teamed with The Grappler and lost to Dick Murdoch, Mr. Olympia, & The Junkyard Dog at an MSW event in Oklahoma City.
The wrestling world mourned the death of Afa of The Wild Samoans, with WWE leading the way in tributes. WWE aired a video of Afa on “SmackDown” on August 16th, produced and aired just a few hours after his death was announced. "WWE is saddened to learn that Afa Anoa’i Sr. — a WWE Hall of Famer and one-half of the iconic Wild Samoans tag team — has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Anoa’i’s family, friends and fans," read a message from the company on X. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque wrote that Afa was devoted to his family, dominant in the ring, and dedicated to building future generations of WWE Superstars. "My thoughts are with the entire Anoa’i family as we remember the legendary Afa." AEW also sent its condolences, writing, "AEW and the wrestling world mourn the passing of the legendary Wild Samoan Afa. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans." TNA added, "TNA is saddened to learn of the passing of Afa Anoa’i Sr., one-half of the legendary Wild Samoans tag team. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Anoa’i family, his friends and fans during this time."
Following the dark match on “SmackDown” on August 16th, Jey Uso thanked the fans for their support after a tough day with the passing of Afa the Wild Samoan. An emotional Uso addressed the crowd, saying, "Being in the center of the ring though, still brings joy to each one of the family members that you saw perform tonight." Jey continued, "We needed this tonight, we needed you guys tonight. From my family, thank you." Uso wrestled World Heavyweight Champion Gunther after “SmackDown” went off the air and that match had the interference by Ludwig Kaiser followed by Damian Priest coming to the aid of Uso. The match, after ending in DQ, was restarted as a tag match, with Uso & Priest coming out victorious to send everyone home happy.
In a touching post on social media, Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson paid tribute to his late uncle, Afa Anoa'i, who passed away on August 16th at the age of 81. The Rock said that uncle Afa is finally at peace with his brother, and his other uncle, Sika. "The Wild Samoans were trailblazers in the world of professional wrestling. Multi-time @WWE tag team champions and eventually, bestowed their rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame," he wrote in the caption along with several photos. "The last picture is one of my all time favorites- it’s my uncles Afa and Sika with my grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia – and I believe that’s Professor Toru Tanaka," Rock continued. "What I love about this picture is you can SEE & FEEL the LOVE & MANA amongst these smiling, loving men." One of the photos included featured Afa in a hospital bed holding the Brahma Bull WWE title, giving a thumbs up. "I love you uncle and I’ll never forget what you did for our family in ‘87. 'Come to me' Nashville to Bethlehem," he concluded.
