NEWS
Due to Sting retiring as AEW World Tag Team Champion, AEW President Tony Khan announced that the titles are now vacant and a tournament will take place to crown new champions.

The Greensboro Coliseum posted a heartfelt message when doors for AEW’s “Revolution” opened on Sunday afternoon. The location was selected for historical purposes and importance in Sting's storied career and over 16,000 fans responded by attending the show. "Welcome to Greensboro Coliseum. We recognize the importance of this moment. To Sting. To the fans. To AEW. To professional wrestling," the message said. "Thank you for trusting us with this responsibility. We are honored to be hosting this event. We are just as excited as you are." It continued, "Tonight, we continue the legacy. History has been made here many times. Tonight is different. Tonight is for The Icon. Tonight is for Sting. Welcome to the Revolution”. Before the show started, Coliseum Deputy Director Scott Johnson presented Sting, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Ric Flair, and Darby Allin, with their custom bats while Chris Wilson, Deputy City Manager of the city of Greensboro, presented Sting with a proclamation that March 3rd was officially THANK YOU STING DAY in Greensboro.

While the pay-per-view feed cut off during Sting's post-match speech last night, the celebration continued after the show went off the air. Both his sons, Steven, Jr. and Garrett, rejoined their father in the ring for his final farewell. Before the match started, Garrett came out in surfer Sting attire and makeup while Steven wore the Wolfpac Sting outfit and makeup to accompany their dad in the ring. AEW President Tony Khan was invited to the ring and Tony Schiavone did his last "It's Stiiiiiiing" call on the microphone before the AEW locker room emptied to salute “The Icon”. It was a memorable and emotional night for “The Stinger” who wrapped up his almost 40-year career on top with a win over The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) with his crazy tag team partner Darby Allin. The two went 29-0 as a tag team in AEW, with Sting never once pinned or submitted during his whole AEW stint. Ric Flair and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat were involved in the match as well while Magnum T. A., Scotty Riggs, and Nikita Koloff were all at ringside. Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger were also there but not shown on camera.

At 64 years old, Sting wrapped up his in-ring career on Sunday at AEW’s “Revolution” in front of over 16,000 screaming fans at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. Sting, a member of both the WWE Hall of Fame and TNA Hall of Fame, arrived in AEW as a surprise during the “Winter is Coming” episode of “Dynamite” on December 2, 2020. It was his first appearance on TNT since the final “WCW Monday Nitro” episode on March 26, 2001 where he wrestled Ric Flair in the main event. In his 38-month stint with the promotion, Sting wrestled a total of 29 times, all of which were tag team matches and all of them had one constant: Darby Allin. 28 of those matches came for AEW while one was for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan for The Great Muta's retirement. Sting was never pinned or submitted and finished his AEW career with zero losses. Sting returned to his first match in six years on March 6, 2021 at the “Revolution” pay-per-view. His previous last match was on September 20, 2015 at WWE’s “Night of Champions 2015” pay-per-view against Seth Rollins where he was seriously injured and had to retire. Sting was part of 11 pay-per-view matches along the way, wrestled 12 times on “Dynamite”, twice on “Rampage”, and three times on “Collision”. Apart from teaming up with Allin, other AEW stars also tagged along with him including C. M. Punk, Sammy Guevara, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Miro, Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, Tetsuya Naito, Hook, Adam Copeland, and Chris Jericho. His opponents included Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky, Jeff Parker, Matt Lee, F. T. R. (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood), The Gunn Club (Billy Gunn & Colten Gunn), M. J. F., The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens), Andrade el Idolo, Isiah Kassidy, Matt Hardy, The House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, & Brody King), Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, The Mogul Embassy (Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona, & Swerve Strickland), The Butcher & The Blade, Kip Sabian, Minoru Suzuki, Chris Jericho, Swerve Strickland, Jay White, Luchasaurus, Christian Cage, The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), Lance Archer, The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent), Nick Wayne, Big Bill, Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & J. D. Drake), Big Bill, and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson). He also tagged with The Great Muta & Darby Allin and faced AKIRA, Hakushi, and Naomichi Marufuji in NOAH for “The Great Muta Final Bye-Bye Match”. His longest match in AEW was his “Dynamite” bout with Punk & Darby Allin against F. T. R. & M. J. F. in December 2021, running for just under 25 minutes while his shortest match was against The Outrunners in November 2023, also on “Dynamite”, running just under three minutes

Sting called Sunday night's match against The Young Bucks one of the three best matches of his career. All four were thrilled how it turned out with Nicholas Jackson saying it may have been the most fun he's ever had in a match.

The Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, GA where Sting taped the vignette that aired before the main event of AEW’s “Revolution” main event, commented "An honor! We [heart emoji] @Sting.”

Sting’s son Garrett wrote on his YouTube channel about his experience dressing as ‘surfer’ Sting as part of his dad’s final match at “Revolution”: "Alright, it’s time for an update and a bit of a reveal. Last night, my dad, Sting, retired from his completely legendary pro wrestling career. My brother and I got to play a small part of his final match as younger versions of his character. I’ve got the American outfit, my brother has the red (or, Surfer Sting and Wolfpack Sting for any wrestling fans!) It was absolutely insane, and by far the coolest night of my entire life. The admiration and love from the fans toward my dad made me even more proud of him than I already am. So, this is obviously why I’ve been a bit absent the past month or so. I was largely focused on looking as good as possible for the show, so lots of hours that would have been spent grinding Destiny were instead spent in the gym haha. All that to say, thanks for being patient. I can’t wait to upload again soon, and I’ll for sure try to do a recap video that goes more in depth on this weekend."

Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie were the guests on “AEW Unrestricted” this week.

During an appearance on “The A2theK Wrestling Show”, Kevin Von Erich discussed his experience in AEW. He said, “Man, I love those people, really. It's a great company. I know this isn't anything, but the catering was great. What good food. And the people are real nice. Tony Khan is something else. Every company needs a guy like that. Somebody that loves the business. That can look at the business like it was his first day every morning. That's that guy. So I have a lot of admiration for him… Then the wrestlers, all great guys, old friends.”

The “WWE Rivals” episode of Jake Roberts vs. Randy Savage and the “WWE Biography” episode of Sgt. Slaughter on A&E this past Sunday were both down from last week’s season premieres. “Rivals” scored 316,000 viewers with a 0.06 rating, landing at #59 on the chart in the 18-49 demographic. “Biography” did 276,000 with a 0.07, finishing #50 in the same demographic. Both shows were down from the previous week.

Gideon Vane, Tino Valentino, M. J. Bell, Jastin Taylor, Zack Zilla and Exodus Prime all appeared as security guards on this week’s “WWE Friday Night SmackDown”.

Onb Friday, WWE announced that The U. S. Express, the tag team of Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Paul "Triple H" Levesque informed the two personally in a video chat which was published on WWE's social media properties. Levesque told them that both of them were there to start it all at the very first WrestleMania and he was here to tell them that both of them are going in as a tag team. Rotunda was visibly emotional as both of them thanked Triple H for the honor. This is Windham's second time in the Hall of Fame, having previously been inducted as part of The Four Horsemen (with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and J. J. Dillon). This is Rotunda's first HOF induction. "From the very first #WrestleMania… to the WWE Hall of Fame. Mike Rotunda & Barry Windham are a legendary tag team with deep family ties to our business, and their influence will be felt for generations to come. It was an honor to tell the US Express that they're #WWEHOF bound," Triple H wrote. The duo join Paul Heyman and Bull Nakano as part of this year's class.

Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham were guests on the “Cheap Heat” podcast. Rotunda spoke about being chosen for the WWE Hall of Fame. He said “It was kind of out of the blue. I wasn’t expecting it. It means a lot. You’re getting rewarded for a lifetime of work. So a nice honor to have and have the respect of the officials that elect to put you in there and all the guys that I worked with to make me look good. Windham said “It was a really big surprise and this one is special because I get to go in with my best friend and that makes it all that much bigger.”

The “Dark Side of the Ring” episode about Black Saturday that is coming out over the next month or two will heavily talk about Ole Anderson. Gerald Brisco was among those interviewed.

It was announced that “Iron” Mike Sharpe, Jr. will be inducted into the United Wrestling Coalition Hall of Fame at their 28th anniversary event on March 16th in New Egypt, NJ.

Ric Flair made an appearance at halftime during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

Billy Jack Haynes is set to go to trial on charges of second degree murder in the death of his wife Janette Becraft Haynes on April 11th.

Last week we reported that Dylan Feltz suffered a pinched nerve causing the right side of his body to go numb. After receiving an MRI, it was revealed he actually had an acute herniated disc. He had neck surgery on March 5th. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.
