Greg OIiver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled “Adnan Al-Kaissy” dead at 84” which you can read by clicking here.

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan was admitted to a hospital and had to undergo emergency surgery according to his wife Debra. The WWE Hall of Famer was being honored by the Glens Falls Firefighters Association on Friday when afterwards he fell ill and was transported to a hospital in the evening. The surgery was done Saturday morning. “We welcome your prayers and we will continue to provide updates,” his wife Debra said on X. September 8th was “Hacksaw Jim Duggan Day” as proclaimed by Mayor Collins and Duggan was inducted into the Glens Falls Firefighters Association as an honorary member for his work in the 70s as a summer firefighter. Immediately following the ceremony, Duggan did a meet and greet with fans and raised $2,500 for the GF Nation Fund. Duggan had several bouts with cancer over the past couple of years although it’s not clear why he was admitted to a hospital this time around. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Bunkhouse Bobby had hernia surgery on September 11th. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Terry Pantera had to be taken to the hospital right before the BCW event in Guthrie on September 15th. He was diagnosed with a blood infection. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Maui Mike was involved in a severe auto accident where he was hit head on by a drunk driver after the EPW event on September 16th. He posted a picture to Facebook where his face was bloody and his left eye had gauze covering it, saying he was “in pain and pretty banged up”. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan extends condolences to Skidz on the passing of his Great Aunt on September 12th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Dick Listener on the passing of his father on September 14th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Brett Sawyer, who passed away September 8th at the age of 63. At the time of this writing, no cause of death was known. Sawyer, who sometimes competed as Brett Wayne and Brett Wayne Sawyer, but whose real name was Brett Eugene Woyan, was trained by his brother Buzz Sawyer and Ricky Steamboat. He debuted at the age of 16 and spent time both as a solo wrestler and in a tag team with Buzz. For a long time, he was a mainstay of the Pacific Northwest area where he held the Heavyweight Title 4 times and the Tag Team Titles 5 times. Brett then rejoined his brother in Georgia, feuding with The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) and winning the National Heavyweight and Tag Team Titles. They eventually lost a Loser-Leaves-Town Match to The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey). Brett would move on to the Central States area, where he held the Heavyweight Title and then moved down to MSW, where he spent much of 1986. He was never at the main event, but he was a consistent wrestler, staying through the transition from MSW to UWF, before moving on. After a tour in Japan, Brett and Buzz parted ways and Brett went to Florida, teaming with Jim Backlund. Perhaps the high point of his career came outside the ring and he and Buzz trained Ken Shamrock to wrestle. Brett competed in a few matches for WCW and made another tour of Japan, but was finished and retired by 1998. He would go on to open a wrestling school after his in-ring retirement, but had remained out of the public eye for much of the time after leaving in-ring competition. Brett competed on 9 documented Oklahoma cards. The earliest was an MSW event on January 18, 1986 in Muskogee, where he lost to MSW North American Champion Dick Slater. And the last was December 7, 1986 at a UWF event, where he teamed with Jeff Gaylord and lost to The One Man Gang and UWF Tag Team Champion Bill Irwin.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about Brett Sawyer’s passing which you read by clicking here.
