NEWS
In a recent interview with "Wrestling Shoot Interviews", Shane Douglas talked about a wide range of topics including Ric Flair. Douglas and Flair had their issues over the years dating back to when Douglas and Flair were in WCW in the early 1990s. In the past, Douglas ripped Flair in segments on ECW TV and in shoot interviews. In this interview, he gave more details on why he lost respect for Flair. He said “When he came out (of his coma), he seemed to have turned over a new leaf and stayed sober for a while. He seemed to be going well, and by all appearances, seemed happy to me at that time. Not long after that, there was a Big Time Wrestling show out of Boston down near Pittsburgh in the Rostraver Ice Gardens. My nephew had driven me down. So Flair was there. Got paid a ton of money. He went out in the very first segment and did like a three minute promo. He needed my nephew to drive him back to the airport. So my nephew left. This is the top of the show. I’m on late in the show. Like an hour after the show’s over, my nephew still hasn’t come back and we’re like an hour from the airport. He ended up finally coming back like an hour and a half, two hours after the show had ended. He apologized. He said, ‘We weren’t a mile down the road and Ric made me pull into a bar’, and he said he stopped at every bar going to the airport. I’m like, well that obviously means he’s drinking again, right? That’s one of those things like, if you survived this medically induced coma, straighten up. My take now is, for what it’s worth, and I’m not trying to play a psychoanalyst, is I don’t think Ric Flair, first of all, Richard Fliehr no longer exists. He’s allowed Ric Flair to take over that body, and there’s a real danger of that because that is truly a mental illness. We are playing a role. I’m very keenly aware of the differences of Shane Douglas and Troy Martin, and I hope they’re very different people. The last match thing, full disclosure, I didn’t watch the whole thing but I did watch clips of it and close friends of mine kept asking, ‘Why is he doing this? Why is he doing this?’ Because let’s face it, he’s one of those guys, we get this question all the time, you know, who’s on your Mount Rushmore? You got to put Flair there, right? His legacy is solid. A hundred years from now, wrestling fans will be talking about and studying Ric Flair’s work. So I found it odd, like what could he possibly do in that ring that would not detract from that? Because let’s face it, none of us can today do what we did 30 years ago, unfortunately, so why do it? My take on it is, I think that Ric Flair now thinks the only ending to that book is you got to die in the ring. I mean, you can’t die in a hotel room someplace. That’s so normal. The oddity of that is that right there in the front row are your kids and grandkids and your co-workers that you admire. Then we’re hearing these stories. It’s true that he blacked out twice or something in the match. Like those are major, major, dangers for somebody that’s in his condition, pacemaker and everything.” Douglas continued by noting that his Christmas wish is that Flair finds peace in his life. “I wish for Ric, and at this time of year, Christmas, my Christmas wish for Ric Flair, Richard Fliehr, is that he can find whatever peace he’s searching for and live out the rest of his life that’s 50 more years, happy, and able to look at his grandkids and see just the wonder there.”

Ric Flair recently appeared on ESPN's "First Take" with Stephen A. Smith. You can watch hsi appearance by clicking here.

On December 13th, it was reported that former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon believes he can return to WWE. McMahon believes that the serious allegations, and subsequent investigation, has now blown over. Whilst numerous reports indicate that top names in WWE, simply do not want McMahon back, Ric Flair has claimed that McMahon is “entitled to return to WWE”. Flair would discuss the possibility of McMahon returning to WWE on the latest edition of his podcast. Flair said “Well, you will not be seeing a single negative word out of me. I love Vince McMahon. I mean it. And I think that he should; he is entitled to whatever he wants. I’m telling you, shame on the people that do not believe so. He built it. Nobody else built it. Nobody helped him. He fought every war”.

Matches added to WWE’s YouTube this week included A. J. Styles vs. Edge from "WrestleMania 38" and A. J. Styles vs. Drew McIntyre vs. The Miz in a Triple Threat TLC Match for the WWE Championship from "TLC 2020".

The cameraman attacked by Bray Wyatt on Friday’s SmackDown broadcast was J. T. Energy.

AEW has matured a lot as a company in 2022 and made a number of key structural changes within the promotion. Jim Ross believes that the next big change for the organization could be the introduction of live events. He talked about this possibility on the latest episode of his "Grilling JR" podcast. He discussed the importance of live events and the various benefits it provides to talents and the company. Ross noted that live events can help younger talents gain experience as well as bring in extra revenue if used strategically. He mentioned the recent hiring of Jeff Jarrett and shared the belief that AEW will expand their schedule in 2023. He said “I believe, I don’t know this to be a fact, but I believe in 2023, that AEW will be in the house show/ live event business to some degree. I just think that it’s an opportunity that can be capitalised upon if AEW is strategic in their planning. I think that’s what Jeff Jarrett is working on.” Jeff Jarrett made his AEW debut in November. He was given the title of Director of Business Development by Tony Khan, indicating that Jarrett will play a key role in the next phase of the company’s expansion. The AEW President himself has discussed the possibility as well. He said that it makes sense to expand AEW’s live event calendar going into 2023.

Jon Moxley is currently gearing up for a feud with the returning Hangman Page. Despite the history between the two, Jim Cornette believes that Moxley and Evil Uno ruined what was an important segment. Hangman Page took some time off after suffering a concussion as a result of a heavy lariat during his match against Jon Moxley a few months ago. "The Millennial Cowboy" recently returned and clearly has some frustrations to air with Moxley. During the recent "Jim Cornette Experience" podcast, Cornette harshly slammed the inclusion of Evil Uno during Hangman Page's backstage promo. Cornette also blamed Moxley for the star's appearance. Cornette said "The only reason he was there was because Moxley had said earlier ‘Page, you and your Dark Order buddies, you know where to find me!’ So they had this fat f***ing potato-headed idiot standing there, looking like a goof, to illustrate that Page is still with The Dark Order. So, the only time that Page put forth the effort to do something half decent, they've got this idiot in the back killing the whole thing." Cornette has maintained that The Elite is largely responsible for the internal issues in the promotion. He even went as far as to claim that Hangman Page instigated the 'Brawl Out' fiasco. Fully expecting this personal dispute between Jon Moxley and Hangman Page to eventually boil over into an all out war between The Blackpool Combat Club and The Elite. During the same episode, Cornette praised Page's delivery of the promo despite not having much personality in his opinion: "I have to say, even if [Hangman] Page doesn’t have any personality and he’s blasé with the delivery of his promos there was good material in this [segment]. That’s a good concussion promo. The problem was this fat, f***ing goofy-looking, outlaw piece of s**t [Evil] Uno." It remains to be seen where the war between Hangman Page and Jon Moxley will lead.

AEW’s Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo recently purchased a house and posted pictures of it on Twitter.

The biography of The Sheepherders/Bushwhackers (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) entitled Blood, Sweat, and Cheers" is being released on Christmas Day on Amazon Kindle. It's a very fun read because they go through decades all over the world from being a savage team in the territory days to making it as a comedy act in WWF.

The 2002 documentary "Wrestling Then and Now" is now available on Tubi and Amazon Prime. Killer Kowalski and Nikolai Volkoff are among those featured.

Koko B Ware is currently hospitalized with unspecified medical issues at a facility in Mississippi. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of former WCR Imperial Champion Stephan Bonnar who passed away at the age of 45 due to heart failure. Bonnar vacated the Imperial Title earlier this year due to injury. Because WCR reintroduced their Heavyweight Title, the Imperial Title was retired and Bonnar was the last to hold the title. Bonnar was also an accomplished MMA fighter and a member of the UFC Hall of Fame.
