NEWS
Trevor Murdoch has found his home in the National Wrestling Alliance, and he doesn’t plan to go anywhere else. Murdoch captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship for the second time at the "Alwayz Ready" pay-per-view on June 12th. He has been one of the faces of the company since he arrived in 2019. Given his successful run with the company, it’s fair to wonder whether he’d consider returning to WWE or signing with another promotion at some point. During an interview with the "Wrestling Perspective Podcast", Murdoch made it clear that he’s happy in the NWA, and he believes it’s where he belongs. He noted that WWE and AEW are great in their own way, but he wants to stay in the NWA for the rest of his career as a wrestler. “Man, fellas, this is Cinderella has found [his] shoe,” said Murdoch. “When I was a young guy, I was open to all that, like whoever will pay me the most and push me. NWA treats me right. When I’m in the ring, I feel like that’s where I’m supposed to be. When I watch the program, I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be doing. This is where Trevor Murdoch is supposed to be, right here. And at the end of the day, when the NWA says 'Hey Trevor, we’re done with you in front of the camera', that’s it, fellas. This is where I’m finishing my career, in the NWA. Because in my personal opinion, I won’t be able to do anything to top what I’ve done just in the short time that I’ve been here. I’m a tried and true NWA. I don’t want to go to AEW. I don’t wanna go to WWE. I think that they’re great in their own perspectives, but Trevor Murdoch fits in the NWA, and I’m happy here. So that’s where I’m gonna stay. This is where I’ll end it all." In the past, AEW and NWA collaborated on a number of occasions. With the way AEW has worked with a number of promotions, some fans have wondered Murdoch stepping through the forbidden door was a possibility at some point. When asked, the champion noted that there had been talks between the two sides, but they didn’t go anywhere.“There was some discussions with AEW, but I think they kinda fizzled out pretty quick because they were talking about the 'Forbidden Door', especially with some guys getting injured,” said Murdoch. “But I think that didn’t last very long. I’m really not inquiring. I’m focused on the NWA and being the representative for the NWA.”

WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship from "SummerSlam 2017".

WWE has added Ric Flair back into its signature opening video package. WWE plays a montage of the company’s top stars throughout the generations at the beginning of every show. Flair was previously removed from the video, as he left the company in August 2021. However, on the July 16th episode of "WWE Monday Night RAW", the legendary “Woo!” was back in. “The Nature Boy” quickly responded on Twitter by stating that losing his place in the montage was the most hurtful moment of his career and thanking WWE for giving him his spot back. Flair is set to return the ring at the Ric Flair’s Last Match event on July 31st.

Goldberg is one of those performers that has an aura about them that they are almost unbeatable. Despite his age, his record in the WWE isn’t as bad as some would think, beating Brock Lesnar repeatedly upon his return to the company along with multiple Universal Title reigns. While speaking on "The Rich Eisen Show", Goldberg revealed that he does not like to watch his own matches or performances. He admitted to being critical of himself. “No [I have not watched my A&E/WWE Biography episode]. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t really like to watch anything that I’ve, quote unquote, ‘performed in.’ But I have seen excerpts, and you know, barring myself tearing up a little bit, I was quite entertained before I had to turn it off. So, you know, like I said, I don’t like to watch anything that I’m in, actually. I’m always quite critical of myself, whether it’s a documentary or whether it’s a live performance. I’m just that meathead that always likes perfection.” Time will tell if we will see Goldberg in a WWE ring again, but for now he remains off our TV screens with no expected return date to the ring.

Dress code in the work place is always important, except for these three individuals. As most companies do, WWE tries to show off a professional image. You may see superstars wearing suits and ties or button ups and dress pants on the day of the shows or on company business. But, apparently that depends on your company status. While on his "Foley Is Pod" show, Mick Foley revealed three names, which included himself, that didn’t have to abide by the dress code rules like everyone else. “But at that time I knew the company you know, I had that grace period where I was allowed to wear everything I wanted, anything I wanted. They thought it felt like the character’s dress code era. So it was like there was three guys that didn’t have to adhere to the dress code – Undertaker, {John} Cena, and me. Then when I get talked to about now I have to adhere to it. Now it feels like a big part of me has been taken away you know? I feel like the guy whose wife is using his body.” Three huge names in the business not having to listen to dress code rules makes sense.

On the latest edition of his "Foley Is Pod" podcast, Mick Foley reflected on his days in WCW, and how he was once hit in the face with a shovel during a tag team matchup against The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags & Brian Knobbs. On how he hurt his shoulder in the match on a separate spot: “There’s not enough room for me to take this bump, the Nestea Plunge, properly. So I end up doing great damage to my shoulder because I gotta rotate mid-air.” On how he was later his in the face with a shovel during the match: “I personally thought the Nestea Plunge was enough for the fall, but Sags had other ideas … None of that was [planned], because the only thing we knew was the finish. And again, maybe I’m looking back at this through this with rose-colored glasses, but my recollection — and I think that’s consistent with what I wrote in 1999 — is that I didn’t have anything planned. Maybe Maxx and those guys did, but I was already, in my head, out of the company and getting surgery.”

There were reports that Tony Khan and Jim Ross were at the UFC show in Las Vegas, NV. That was incorrect. Apparently somebody put up on a photo of them from the April 9th show in Jacksonville, FL that they were at and it got circulated in a number of places. Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Pat McAfee, and Nick Khan were all sitting ringside for the last few matches after the WWE show ended. All but Khan were identified on television. McAfee was wearing a neck brace to sell the post-show attack from Happy Corbin.

It looks like fans may not be the only ones upset with the length of AEW pay-per-view events. AEW pay-per-view run times have been a constant source of fan opinion for a long time. Most recently, "Forbidden Door" ran a long length and for most fans, this was fine. But there is a vocal amount of fans who have complained about the run time of the shows at almost every AEW pay-per-view. On the latest episode of his "Grilling JR" podcast, Jim Ross spoke specifically about the length of "Forbidden Door". While he referenced some fan’s complaints about the show’s length, he enjoyed the quality of matches overall and said that all mattered to him in the end. “I thought that [Forbidden Door] was exceptional. It was long, that was maybe a negative for some people, but the talent worked their asses off and that, to me, is where it starts and ends. Great effort and preparation … We had a lot of show-stopping matches and a lot of matches where guys put on spots to raise their game. For example, the very unique Orange Cassidy, who is a gimmick guy, had a hell of a match with Will Ospreay, who’s a much better wrestler than is Orange Cassidy, but we saw Orange Cassidy could wrestle. He did the honors, he lost the match, so what? I just enjoyed the hell out of that show.”

Impact Wrestling did a personal video to Don West, who is battling brain cancer. Mike Tenay has been the point person regarding them doing so and Scott D'Amore contributed more than $13,000 to West's medical bills a few weeks ago. Besides those on the roster and in the current company, Impact got Dixie Carter, A. J. Styles, Samoa Joe, and many others to do the video. Tenay and Don West were heavily moved by the comments made. Tenay and West were hoping the video could be shared and are looking to get everyone's approval for that.

On Twitter, Cody Rhodes on Twitter plugged upcoming meets and greets at "Starrcast V" in collaboration with the Dusty Rhodes Foundation. Ricky Starks, The Factory (Aaron Solo & Q. T. Marshall), 10, and Buttercup the dog have been advertised. More information is scheduled for this week.

Buff Bagwell was a star in WCW from 1991-2001 where he captured the World Tag Team Titles a whopping five times. In more recent years, Buff Bagwell randomly showed up on Twitter and to the amazement of fans, he was great to talk to. Buff took a true positive outlook on twitter, touting his support for the LQBTQ+ community, showing support for women’s rights, letting his takes be known on the current wrestling scene, and more. Or was he? Recently it was revealed that Buff was indeed not running his Twitter, instead, it was someone else. People had been side-eyeing the Buff account for a while, but it all came crashing down when a fan who purchased a replica WCW Tag Title off of Buff, never received his item. He also tried to get his money back, but that wouldn’t work either. Buff Bagwell responded to this on Twitter by saying “I have informed Michael that our business relationship is over, and that he needs to get people what they are owed. I will continue on him to do so. For now on the only merch available is through my PWT store, www.marcussbuffbagwell.com or in person at conventions.” Michael, who was apparently running his merchandise online, was not responding to any fans or Buff. Things got even stranger when a short time later, Buff’s Facebook account was updated to say this; “Appreciate everyone’s support of Buff these last few months. I was runnings Buffs twitter and other social media since last year, we have gone our separate ways due to a variety of reasons. I will not say anything bad about Marc and have no problem being the fall guy for whatever issues their are with merchandise. Enjoyed getting to know you all, though I was posting for Buff it was my beliefs and opinions being tweeted.” This same message was posted to his discord as well. Later in the week, the fan who was screwed out of money and merch from “Buff” has revealed that Buff’s account was ran by alleged sex offender, Javan Michael Miller, who also goes by the name “Michael Long” on Twitter (@MichaelLongENT) and has now locked his account. Fans in the comment section were also sharing stories of being scammed out of money by Michael. Now that Buff’s social media is gone, it’s unclear what the actual Buff Bagwell thinks about all this and if he truly knows what’s going on. Though highly unlikely at this point, we hope all the fans that were screwed over will get their money back from this scam artist.

On Svengooli's 40th anniversary show, they included clips of Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, and The Honky Tonk Man.

"The Flying Greek", a documentary about Mike Pappas will be screening at Moxie Cinema in Springfield, MO on July 17th at 6pm.

Mickie James has no chill. Early on Friday morning, it was revealed by The Wall Street Journal that Vince McMahon had not just one settlement regarding sexual misconduct, but four in the last sixteen years. One of these settlements was regarding an incident involving a member of the women’s roster in 2005 being pressured into oral sex in exchange for a raise and a new contract. Mickie James decided it was time to make an opportune joke, poking fun at McMahon in particular, saying “No Wonder I Never Got That Raise”

FITE TV will be airing a three-part documentary on Ric Flair's Last Match ahead of the highly-anticipated event later this month. The doc starts on Monday, July 11 on RicFlairsLastMatch.com at 6:05PM ET and then it's uploaded on FITE TV on Wednesday. The other two episodes will be uploaded on July 18 and 25 before being added to FITE on July 20 and 27 respectively. Grammy Award-winner Darius Rucker will be narrating the documentary which promises to give fans an unprecedented access to Flair's preparation for his last match. "I've had the bright lights on me my entire career, so it's only fitting I bring the cameras along as I get ready to do it one last time," Flair said. "I'm putting everything I have into this last match, and I want the world to see it! WOOOOO!" David Crockett, President of Jim Crockett Promotions, added, "I've had the absolute privilege of being with Ric during some of the most legendary runs of his career. This series is going to give fans a real perspective of what Ric's career has meant to my family and the entire wrestling business. And it's going to show the love and drive Ric is bringing to his final match." Michael Weber, Chief Operating Officer at FITE, said that this was one of the most unique and in-depth shows that they have had the honor of producing. Whenever you are working with a legend like Ric Flair, you need to bring your best, and I am extremely proud of the effort our team put in to making this series happen."

J. R. Orulian underwent colon surgery on July 5th. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan extends condolence to the family and friends of Bad Boy, who passed away on July 4, 2022. He was 52 years old. Bad Boy, whose real name was Mike Crawford, graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1988. He is known to have been competing in pro wrestling by 1992, using the name The Oklahoma Kid. His debut match was against Jeff Knight, but no record of that match exists. However, his first documented match was at a PZWA event in Oklahoma City, where he defeated Treach Phillips, Jr. Crawford only had a couple of documented matches in 1992 and there is no documentation of him competing in 1993 or 1994, but he returned to PZWA in 1995, where he would feud with TNT. By July 4th, 1996, he was known to be competing under the name Bad Boy. During the remainder of his time in PZWA, he had several matches against Billy Phoenix. In 1999, when PZWA became New Mid-South, he is known to have formed a tag team with Tom Jones known as The Dogg Pound and at some point prior to early 2002, they won the NMS Tag Team Titles. Crawford also made sporadic appearances in 2002 and 2003 in the Tulsa area, teaming with The Forsaken (Faith & Halo) and losing to The Casualties of War (AWOL, Grenade & Jeff Pebbles} at an OCW event on December 28, 2002 and defeating Luc Lapointe at an SRPW event in 2003. By 2005, Crawford had formed a tag team with Glen Steel, known at various times as The Bad Boys, The Angry Americans, or The Patriots. On May 28, 2005, Crawford teamed with Steel & Angel Williams to face The Forsaken and their manager, Tommy D. Williams turned on his team and as a result, The Forsaken won the vacant MSWA Tag Team Titles and Tommy D won the MSWA Title from Angel Williams (Though he would give that title right back to him). Crawford then took one of several absences from in-ring competition that dotted his career. He returned on October 1, 2005 and began a feud with Al Farat and his Disciples of Allah. On October 22, 2005, The Patriots were part of a 4-Way Tag Team match also involving Farat & Slash, The Real Impact Players (Aaron Neil & Se7en) and MSWA Tag Team Champions The Red Dirt Outlaws (Kevin James & Devon Monroe). The Real Impact Players won that match and the belts. The Patriots then brought in Big Van Vader to assist in the feud against The Disciples of Allah. Several matches saw Crawford & Steel face Slash & Outlaw. Crawford again took some time away from in-ring competition, following a split between himself and Rick Garrett, leading Garrett to form his All American Championship Wrestling company. Crawford continued to team with Steel and on September 8, 2006, defeated Aaron Neil & Alexander Lucas (subbing for Se7en) for the MSWA Tag Team Titles. Crawford and Steel also appeared on the only CXW event in Guthrie, challenging Trailer Park Trash (J. C. & K. C.) in a match that ended in a No-Contest due to interference from The New Age Syndicate (Scott Sanders & Shawn Sanders). Crawford also made an appearance at an early UWF06 event in Ardmore, losing to Thomas Trump. He even ventured over to SWCW on March 3, 2007, teaming with Glen Steel and losing to Trailer Park Trash by DQ. Most of The Patriots' title reign saw them challenged by The South Side Soul Assassins (Tyson Jaymes & 3rd Rail). But on April 29, 2007, Steel was attacked prior to a show and Crawford chose Outlaw as a substitute partner for that event. When it became clear that Steel was not going to be able to continue to fulfill his championship commitments, Outlaw became his full-time championship partner. Crawford & Outlaw then began a feud with Impact, Inc. This match saw Crawford take part in several 6-Man and 8-Man Tag Team Matches, again teaming with Glen Steel and Angel Williams in one losing effort on March 17, 2007 at an IZW event in Oklahoma City, then teaming with Angel Williams, Brandon Bishop, Outlaw, and Michael Barry to defeat Impact, Inc. in an Elimination Match on April 21, 2007 at an IZW event. This feud seemingly culminated on July 8, 2007, when Impact, Inc. (Johnny Z, Bernie D, Aaron Neil, & Brad Michaels) defeated Crawford, Outlaw, John O'Malley, & Ryan Davidson in an Elimination Match at an MSWA event with the stipulation that the losing team had to leave town. In a surprise twist, Impact, Inc decided to leave town (the town in question being Midwest City) and begin to run IZW weekly in Oklahoma City. Three months later, Crawford and Outlaw would lose the MSWA Tag Team titles to The South Side Soul Assassins after Talon convinced Outlaw to turn on Crawford. This began a long feud between Crawford and Outlaw, which saw Crawford lose a Loser Leaves Town Match to Outlaw on March 16, 2008. Crawford would then return as The Midnite Rider for one event on April 13, 2008, defeating Outlaw, who was the MSWA Oklahoma Champion, by DQ. Two weeks later, at the next MSWA event, Crawford was allowed to compete and defeated Outlaw, lifting his suspension and earning him an MSWA Oklahoma Title opportunity at the next event. But at that event, on May 11, 2008, The Midnite Rider was added to this match and won the Triple Threat Match, also winning the MSWA Oklahoma Title. Obviously this was NOT Crawford as the Rider. And on June 1st, Rider was stripped of the title because the MSWA Board of Directors decided that it would be impossible to determine if the same person was competing under the Rider's mask each time and Crawford defeated Aaron Neil and Outlaw in a Triple Threat Match for the vacant title. Bad Boy and Outlaw would continue their feud, ending in a match on July 20, 2008, which Bad Boy won, forcing Outlaw to wear a dress and an OU jersey and pass out candy at the next event. Crawford feuded briefly with Brock Landers and Xavior before again stepping away from active competition, despite still being the MSWA Oklahoma Champion. He would eventually be stripped of that title. It was the last championship he would hold in his career. The MSWA Board of Directors threatened to remove Crawford as the owner of the company at this point, citing negligence as well as charges of unsafe work conditions brought forward by Maniac Mike. Crawford would return to the ring on August 9, 2009 and defeat Maniac Mike, causing the lawsuit to be dropped and Outlaw to be reinstated as commissioner, a position he had taken during Crawford's absence. At this point, Crawford's in-ring participation began to be more sporadic. He teamed with Jesse White and defeated Dane Griffin & Xavior by DQ on April 11, 2010. One week later, he, White, & Big Van Vader defeated Griffin, Xavior, & Shane Rawls. Crawford would next appear on August 22, 2010, teaming with Kevin Morgan and going to a No-Contest against Bud Barnes & Xavior. He would make 1 in-ring appearance in 2011, teaming with Morgan & Double D and defeating the returned Impact, Inc. Crawford spent over a year out of the ring, finally returning on April 29, 2012 where he defeated Maniac Mike by DQ at an event that was co-promoted by MSWA and BYEW in Oklahoma City. But he wouldn't be seen again until December 9, 2012 when he teamed with Double D & Nemesis (Damon Windsor & Damien Morte) to defeat Impact, Inc. At this point, Crawford began a feud with Kevin Morgan that saw him beat Morgan in a Last Man Standing Match on February 17, 2013. He would team with D & The Syndicate (Scott Sanders & Shawn Sanders) and defeat Impact, Inc. on March 3, 2013, but two weeks later, a rematch of the same teams went to a No-Contest. May 12, 2013 saw Crawford win a First Blood Match against Morgan. But August 11, 2013 saw Morgan gain retribution by beating Crawford in a Stretcher Match. Crawford then found himself in a feud with Mark Wilson, who brought in The Convict to back him up. Crawford faced Convict twice, once in singles competition and once with Double D as a tag team partner against Convict & Wilson. On November 3, 2013, Crawford was able to defeat MSWA Champion Johnny Z, which let him get his hands on Mark Wilson a month later, on December 1, 2013, in a Falls Count Anywhere Match that Crawford was victorious in. Crawford continued to make sporadic appearances in early 2014 before reuniting with Glen Steel and engaging in a feud with The Syndicate. This saw Crawford make his only BPPW appearance on May 10, 2014, where he and Steele lost to The Syndicate. When the Sanders twins added Outlaw to their group and rechristened themselves as The Saints of Pro Wrestling, Crawford was still there to challenge them, teaming with Steel to defeat the threesome in a Handicap Match on September 7, 2014. Crawford again retreated from in-ring competition for almost 2 years, only making one appearance at a special pre-show match where he "teamed" with Kari Kincaid, the granddaughter of Damien Kincaid, and defeated the Roc-N-Roll Cowboy at a benefit show for Kincaid in Oklahoma City co-promoted by MSWA and WFC. Crawford would finally come out of retirement on October 7, 2016 and defeat The New Age Syndicate, now consisting of The Sanders twins and Chaz Sharpe in a Handicap Match, teaming with Rick Russo. On October 30, 2016, Crawford & Russo would be joined by Kevin Morgan and again defeat the Saints. March 18, 2017 saw Crawford team with Jim Duggan and defeat The Three Kings (Al Farat & MSWA Champion Prince Mahalli, w/ Mohammad burn Ham) at a special event in Hinton. Crawford stayed away again until September 3, 2017, when he teamed with Drake Gallows to defeat Killer Cross & Xavior. 6 months later, on March 24, 2018, Cross & Xavior would be joined by Korvin Sage, but would lose to the trio of Crawford, Jake O'Brien, and C. J. Ward. June 15, 2018 saw the only recorded instance of Crawford competing under his real name as he teamed with Rick Russo and went to a No-Contest with VANGOH (Cross & Sage) in a Steel Cage Match. His final recorded match saw Crawford team with Jim Duggan & MSWA Champion Paul Puertorico to defeat VANGOH (Cross, Sage, & Xavior). Crawford's interests in combat sports extended to MMA as well and led to him forming Rage In The Cage, which saw regular MMA events in Oklahoma City and Lawton promoted for many years. Crawford also owned and managed several night clubs, some of which he ran his MSWA events at. But most notably, Crawford is remembered by so many as someone who donated much of his time and money to charitable organizations, especially Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Crawford opened the door for many wrestlers and wrestling organizations in the Oklahoma City area and his legacy in the area will live on in the many people who he provided a platform for. In total, Crawford has 139 documented Oklahoma in-ring appearances. But what he accomplished outside the ring is even more important.

Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Cold Blooded Chris, who passed away July 5th from congestive heart failure. He was 38 years old. Chris, whose real name was Chris Cruse, graduated from Broken Arrow High School and was part of Justin Lee's ICF Backyard Wrestling company. Initially calling himself "The Garbage Vampire", Lee gave him the name Cold Blooded Chris. Chris would complete his pro wrestling training in 2003 and make his debut in TPW on May 3 of that year as C. B. C., winning a 16-man Battle Royal by last eliminating Anthony Jackson. He would def Shane Morbid in his first singles match on October 18, 2003. Approximately one month later, Chris would reinvent himself as "The Plus Size Playa" Poo Bear and defeat The Shadow of Death for the vacant TPW Hardcore Title. CBC primarily competed in the Hardcore division for that year, racking up impressive victories over stars such as John O'Malley, Draven Cross and Anthony Jackson. His primary foe for the Hardcore Title during his reign was The Shadow of Death and he would lose the title to SOD on March 5, 2004. One month later, Poo Bear teamed with Sonny C and went to a No-Contest against Justin Lee and Draven Cross. Poo Bear turned on Sonny in that match and joined with Lee and Cross, forming the Violence Alliance. Much of Poo Bear's time in the VA would be spent tag teaming with Draven, though he would gain some singles victories over Devil Man, Jack Ace and Rico Suave. Eventually, a philosophical difference would rise between Justin and the rest of the VA and they would turn on him. This did not work well for him as he spent the second half of 2004 losing many more matches than he won. That trend continued through 2005 and into the first part of 2006 until a fortunate happenstance occurred. On March 18, 2006, he defeated Rico Suave in a singles match. On April 4, he, Suave and Bernard Funk were in a Triple Threat Match which saw Poo Bear and Rico simultaneously pin Funk. Two weeks later, on April 8, 2006, Poo Bear was again booked to face Rico, but they did not want to wrestle each other, instead calling TPW Commissioner Kitty to the ring and explaining that they wished to be a tag team. She gave them a match against Sexy Bologna (Anthony Jackson & Sudden Impact), which they won and they won again in their next outing against J. P. Steele and Shawn Steel. Sexy Bologna defeated them at the last TPW event on May 13, 2006. But Poo & Rico were convinced that they could be successful in tag team competition and christened themselves the Compound Playas. They teamed with Sudden Impact and lost to the P.I.N.K. Nation (Jack Legacy, Bobby Dalton & Shane Morbid) at an FCW event in Muskogee on September 16, 2007 and had no better luck in their debut at ComPro on October 7, 2006, losing to the ICF Combination of Cast-Iron Cothern and X-Cal. A week later, at an event in Wagoner, the pairing came to an official end when they lost a Handicap Match to AWOL and then Rico defeated Poo Bear in singles competition. Poo Bear spent the next few months losing matches, including one against Rocco Valentino, before taking time away for 3 months. The only exception to this was a victory in a 6-man tag team match where he teamed with both members of Sudden Impact against El Super Colibri, Matt Emerald and Rico Suave and his team were victorious. He returned on August 4, 2007, wrestling under the name Cold Blooded Chris, but initially the name change did not help him as he lost a Triple Threat Match against Anthony Jackson and Brian Lakewood. But on August 25, 2007, CBC teamed with Shane Morbid and defeated Michael York and El Super Colibri. This brought CBC under the management of Boss Campbell and it was at this point that CBC introduced the idea of the ICF World Bodyslam Title. He claimed this was a title that he held in the ICF backyard federation and would challenge any wrestler to perform a bodyslam on him. If they did, they would win the belt. Many wrestlers tried, including Michael York, The Canadian Luchadore, The Canadian Red Devil, both members of Sudden Impact and even Justin Lee, but none were successful. But while he was undefeated in Bodyslam Challenge matches, his record in actual wrestling matches was not as outstanding. Losses to Justin Lee, both members of Sudden Impact, Bernard Funk and Romero Contreras all dot the record of CBC at this point. This represented a change of mentality for CBC. He realised that Boss Campbell was much more interested in Shane Morbid than him and on January 19, 2008, decided to take a step up when he defeated Jesus Rodriguez and El Super Colibri in a Triple Threat Match to become #1 contender to the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title. His initial attempt to win that title did not go well, but CBC proved his deservingness of another opportunity when he won a 4-Corners Math and a Triple Threat Match on successive weeks, each time with Morbid as one of the competitors. He finally achieved that dream on March 1, 2008, when he beat Morbid for the Oklahoma X Division Title. CBC would be a strong champion, beating ComPro stars such as Justin Lee, Rico Suave, the Sudden Impact members, Brian Lakewood and Tim Rockwell. But it would be Rockwell that would end the title reign on April 12, 2008, beating CBC for that belt. CBC would compete against a variety of ComPro stars over the next few months, including Dutch Hagen, but was not able to score another win. Thinking that maybe he needed to reinvent himself again, CBC would join forces with Kobra Kai. Calling himself Kobra Chris, they would form the No Mercy Dojo and make their debut in a 4-Corners Elimination Match against The Gentleman Thugs, The Hall of Famers and Nemesis, which the Thugs would win. Again, it seemed like this reinvention was not helpful. While he picked up a singles victory over Reckless and the Dojo scored a win over the Saints of Twilight, the rest of their time together were all losses. Despite this record, they were part of another 4-Corners Tag Team Match on September 20, 2008 against New Canada, The Saints of Twilight and X-Cal and Dutch Hagen for the vacant ComPro Tag Team Titles, but were not able to win the belts. On October 25, 2008, Kobra Chris lost to the Greatest Bolo in a Bodybag Match, putting an end to that chapter of his career. Chris would be gone for the better part of 4 months. He would return on February 14, 2009, defeating The Canadian Luchadore. He then teamed with Crazy Beautiful and Goldeneye for victories over the next two weeks. This would lead to the formation of the Pop Collar Posse, with all four of those wrestlers, under the guidance of Boss Campbell, defeating Kobra Kai, Tyson Armstrong and New Canada in an Elimination Match. CBC would even bring back the Bodyslam Challenge and get victories over the Easter Bunny, Kobra Kai and even Brandon Groom. September 19, 2009 saw CBC beat The Canadian Red Devil for the ComPro Showtime Title, a title that had the stipulation of required defences at every ComPro event. But the PCP managed to make a mockery out of that in CBC's first title defence when his opponents in a Triple Threat Match were fellow PCP members Brett Taylor and Michael York. CRD was able to up the ante on that idea on October 1, 2009, beating CBC to regain the Showtime Title in a 4-Corners Elimination Match that also involved Brett Taylor and Michael York. CBC took a long break from wrestling after this and was not seen in the ring again for over a year. He returned to team with Shaun Stratton, forming the Hardcore Playas and were part of a Triple Threat Match for the ComPro Tag Team titles against The Saints of Twilight (who would win the belt) and Dustin Heritage (whose championship partner Jack Legacy was injured and unable to defend the title). CBC again found victory in matches against the Saints of Twilight and even brought back the Bodyslam Challenge one time against Brandon Walker. The partnership with Shaun Stratton fell apart, but after teaming once with Dustin Harp to defeat the Saints, CBC teamed at the next ComPro event on Febrary 25, 2011 with Max McGuirk and won the ComPro Tag Team titles. Years of chasing these belts finally came true for him, but their reign would be barely a month long. CBC would lose a singles match to Ignition on March 3, 2011 and then he and Max would lose the titles to the Saints of Twlight on March 26, 2011. This would be the last title that CBC would officially hold in his career. CBC would compete in one more match, losing to Richie Adams, before again leaving in-ring competition. Never in the best of physical conditions, CBC underwent multiple back surgeries and could no longer risk full time competition, even at this level. But he was never one to stay away from wrestling competely and on July 19, 2013, ComPro presented a special event at Thunderbird Youth Academy. The advertsied main event saw CBC take on the Canadian Red Devil, but that match went to a No-Contest due to outside interference and turned into an impromptu 8-man tag that saw CRD, Michael Wolf, Terry Montana and Steven Sterling defeat the team of CBC, K. P. Moore, Ignition and Mister Nasty. ComPro would soon locate into Perfect Practice event centre a couple of months after this and CBC would join the ranks as one of the ring announcers, working with both C. M. Burnham and Tuck Davion. But the itch to compete in the ring never completely left. On September 20, 2015, at a special private ComPro event, CBC lost to Lockdown, but then teamed with Nathan Estrada, Rob Cabella & Giganto to defeat Skylar Slice, Lockdown , Urn Stokes and Wade Argento. Over one year later, CBC made his final in-ring appearances at another special private ComPro event. He teamed with Gavin Dixon and lost to Giganto and Samedi and then seemingly defeated ComPro Champion The Canadian Red Devil for the title in the main event. It was the fulfilmment of a dream for a kid who was never supposed to be successful in pro wrestling and the only title that he never held in his previous runs. However, the following week, on October 29th, 2016, CRD's manager, Richard Pierce, forced ComPro commissioners C. M. Burnham and Mike Iles to overturn that decision due to that previous weeks ComPro event lack of proper sanctioning. The title reign was stricken from the record and CBC returned to his position as ring announcer, a position he would hold until 2017. The past 5 years had not been easy for CBC. While he lost a tremendous amount of weight since his competitive days, his health never truly improved and he spent the final weeks of his life hooked to a ventilator. In total, CBC competed on 124 documented Oklahoma cards. He will be remembered as a wrestler with a big heart and a bigger personality, who defied the odds and was able to prove that he could do what people told him he couldn't.
