NEWS
Mickie James told "The Shining Wizards" that she hopes that NWA’s Empowerrr pay-per-view will become an annual event. She said “We’re hoping. I’m hoping. We have definitely talked about this, especially because we’re-introducing the (Women’s Invitational) Cup as an inaugural thing. The Cup will happen every single year. The whole deal is we’re going to find the top 10 prospects or the top 10 women that we think would make incredible NWA Women’s Champions and every year we’ll have this Cup. So there will be one winner, and she will always get a championship title shot at the NWA Women’s Champion. So, this first one will be the very next night at 73. My hope is that Empower is an annual thing and we can present this Cup at every Empower, and we can keep moving forward. But I do feel this is the first of many women-driven products for NWA as a whole, so I’m excited about that.”

Ric Flair appeared at the NWA 73rd anniversary pay-per-view last Sunday at The Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO, his first appearance for the promotion since the early WCW days. Flair cut a promo in the middle of the ring after receiving a big pop from the crowd and thanked Vince McMahon, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and many others. "Vince McMahon, I love you, that's why I'm here. You know what? Vince McMahon is not going to watch this but he's going to hear about it and he will say Ric Flair is back where he belongs," Flair said. He also put over Triple H big time and mentioned that he has the NWA title hanging in his WWE office. The 16-time world champion noted that it's healthy to have different wrestling promotions around because at the end of the day, not every wrestler will make it to promotions such as WWE or AEW. He noted that he will be meeting AEW President Tony Khan this Thursday. Flair said he hopes his Queen, Charlotte, breaks his record of 16 world titles, and also apologized to his other kids for living the nightmare of having their NWA World Champion father back in the 80s. At the end of the show after Trevor Murdoch beat Nick Aldis to win the NWA World Title, Flair came out to the ring to congratulate him as well.

Ric Flair was on "Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette" and denied that he would be going to AEW, though he did say he would be in Chicago over the weekend. “I can also tell ya, people started rumors -I’m not going to get into it; no need for that – ‘Oh, he’s going to AEW. He and Tony Khan are friends.’,” he said. Yeah, we are friends. But I haven’t heard a word from Tony,” Flair said. “If he asks ya, tell him I’m around.” Flair also refuted reports that Charlotte was unhappy with WWE and looking to leave. He said “(She) would never leave there. She’s the happiest she’s ever been.”

Tony Khan said reports that they are looking to remove Jim Ross as announcer are inaccurate. He said he's never said that and he's also told Ross he's never said that. Ross has said the report was news to him.

This week’s RAW was in Oklahoma City and the TV viewership was down. 1.907 million viewers tuned into Monday night’s episode, down from 2.067 million viewers last week. That’s a loss of 160,000 viewers. The key demos dropped to 0.54 from 0.64 last week.

WWE’s YouTube Channel uploaded John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio, Jr. for the WWE Intercontinental Title from the September 4, 2009 event.

A WWE crew caught up with Goldberg who warned Bobby Lashley that he is coming to take him out. A limping Goldberg, still selling the knee attack from "SummerSlam", said that he has ligament damage on his knee but he doesn't care about that, what he cares about is that "dirty son of a bitch Bobby Lashley" and what he did to his son. He noted his son Gage is all sore and his neck hurts after Lashley put him in the Hurt Lock after their "SummerSlam" match was over. He said after Lashley attacked his son, his objective changed. "I'm not coming for the WWE Championship. I'm coming for Bobby Lashley's soul and I will rip it straight from his chest," Goldberg said. Goldberg vs Bobby Lashley is being worked for the upcoming Saudi Arabia pay-per-view in October and being a non-title match would make it easier to give the win to Goldberg.

Tessa Blanchard, the former Impact World Champion who was fired while holding the promotion’s top men’s title, has posted an interesting tweet, showing her on a bed of U.S. million dollar bills and holding a few featuring the face of "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. DiBiase has lately been part of the NXT roster helping Cameron Grimes in his quest to become the Million Dollar Champion. It’s unclear if her tease means a stint with NXT but Blanchard has been rumored for months to be heading to WWE. Blanchard has kept quite a low profile since she was fired from Impact Wrestling in June 2020. After moving to Mexico with her boyfriend, pro wrestler Daga, she refused to attend Impact TV tapings or send in any taped promos during the pandemic and Impact was unsuccessful in convincing her to drop the World Title. She eventually sent back the title a month after she was stripped of it. The 24-year-old, who made history by becoming the first woman to hold the men’s World Title, also made it in the history books by becoming to only person to remain champion for six months without even one title defense. Her last match with Impact Wrestling was on March 7th, a tag team match where she teamed up with Eddie Edwards to take on The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) for the Impact World Tag Team Titles. Tessa was accused last year by fellow female wrestlers of backstage bullying, accusations that Impact did not address…and not only did they not address them, but actually put the World title on her a few days later. She is the granddaughter Joe Blanchard, the daughter of Tully Blanchard, and the stepdaughter of Magnum T. A.

WWE announced their latest recruits for their Performance Center. Among the 6 new recruits is Joseph Fatu, the son of Rikishi and the brother of The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso).

Rikishi took to Twitter for help finding the murderers of his niece Jaedah. The SFPD says it’s offering a $50K reward for “information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder.” Officials are urging anyone with info on the case to call 1-415-553-9099.

Ian Douglass announced that Truth Bee Told: The Autobiography of B. Brian Blair is now accepting preorders, with perks that include personally autographed copies and signed Killer Bee wrestling masks. It’s 472 pages in length, and features exclusive content contributed by Bret Hart, Steve Keirn, and Hulk Hogan. The link to preorder the book is here.

Jamie Hemmings of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a tory about Brian Blair's autobiography entitled "B. Brian Blair creates a buzz with his autobiography", which you can read by clicking here.
