Ted DiBiase tweeted that he would be on NXT on Tuesday. He tweeted "It is @CGrimesWWE vs Me in a Million Dollar Face-Off, this Tuesday on @WWENXT TV. Watch it LIVE at 8:00pm ET on @USA_Network. Cameron, there’s only one Million Dollar Man! #WWENXT".
Even before Jinder Mahal returned to WWE programming, many fans felt like it was only a matter of time before he crossed paths with his former stablemate, Drew McIntyre. The two stars have walked remarkably similar paths in recent years. Though they were both released from WWE at one point, both men bounced back and reached new heights by winning the WWE Championship. After Mahal’s first appearance of the year on "WWE Monday Night RAW" this week, it might only be a matter of time before Mahal and McIntyre work together in some capacity. During on appearance on WWE’s "The Bump", Mahal teased some tension with “The Scottish Warrior” by arguing that whereas McIntyre’s title win was universally acclaimed, Mahal’s triumph was ridiculed. “My problem is not with Drew,” said Mahal. “My problem is with the idea that Drew McIntyre was celebrated as a champion, like he overcame such enormous odds. Let’s back it up. Me and Drew were part of 3MB together. Me and Drew got released the exact same day. I made it back to WWE faster, better, I became WWE Champion faster than Drew McIntyre, yet I wasn’t celebrated. I was called the experiment or whatever, you know. I don’t have a book right now. Drew has a book, Drew is doing media nonstop, you know, this is one of the only times I’ve done media in the last few months. Why am I not celebrated the same way Drew McIntyre is celebrated? Our stories are parallel. You know, just because you don’t hear about my hardships in life doesn’t mean I’ve had an easy route to the WWE or becoming WWE Champion. I’ve had just as many challenges as Drew has had. Yet I’m not acknowledged, right?” Mahal then took his argument a step farther by asserting the idea that McIntyre wouldn’t have won the title if Mahal hadn’t done it first. He stated that “The Scottish Warrior” simply followed in his footsteps. “Why am I not celebrated?” asked Mahal. “I [came back and won the title] in better fashion then Drew. I bet if I didn’t become WWE Champion, Drew wouldn’t have. You know why? Because I showed him the way. I showed Drew the way. I laid the blueprint down for Drew. Drew followed the same gameplan that I did. “…I’m injured, I’m on the sidelines, Drew is celebrated. How do you think that makes me feel? You talk about what motivated me through the rehab? That, Drew McIntyre motivated me.” Mahal also explained how he’s the best version of himself, as he is more confident than ever before. “Four years ago, as you can see, I didn’t have that confidence that I have now,” said Mahal. “I’m more confident. I’m smarter. I’ve been in there with the greats, after Randy Orton, guys like AJ Styles, guys like John Cena, and the list goes on and on, Shinsuke Nakamura. “I’ve learned something from each of those opponents, and that’s what makes me the best version of myself right now, is I have all that aggression, everything you see there now, plus the confidence, plus the knowledge, plus the experience.”
As noted, Jinder Mahal returned to WWE RAW last week and defeated Jeff Hardy, one week after working the same match on WWE Main Event. Jinder returned to TV with new muscle behind him – Dilsher Shanky, now known as just Shanky, and Rinku Singh, now known as Veer. In an update, Fightful Select reports that Mahal has been ready for a full-time TV return for months, since working the WWE Superstar Spectacle tapings back in late January. Regarding Jinder’s new stablemates, it was noted that Saurav Gurjar was replaced by Shanky because he was deemed not ready for TV. Gurjar and Veer previously appeared on WWE NXT TV as Indus Sher. They also worked the Superstar Spectacle event, teaming with Drew McIntyre to defeat Jinder and The Bollywood Boyz. There’s no word on what WWE has in store for Gurjar, but he will likely continue to work on his in-ring skills at the WWE Performance Center.
The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) and T-Bar & Mace are engaged in a war of words on Twitter and may be engaged in a feud later.
Matches added to WWE’s YouTube page include MVP vs. Jeff Hardy from "Judgement Day 2008".
Even though Daniel Bryan saw his WWE contract come to an end a few weeks ago, Ric Flair doesn’t think Bryan is going anywhere anytime soon. Flair recently appeared on the "My World" podcast with Conrad Thompson to discuss his thoughts on what Daniel Bryan will do. Ric said “He doesn’t have an option, he’s going to go home with Brie. He’s one of the nicest kids I’ve ever met in the business and he wouldn’t leave the WWE. I would have a very difficult time believing he would leave the WWE, if he does, I’d be very surprised. That whole family, everybody’s tied to the WWE.” Ric continued talking about Bryan, saying “I was under the impression he wanted to go home and spend more time with the kids. I don’t know what he’s going to do, whatever he does I wish him nothing but the best. He’s a great worker and just being honest with you, I did not think that at his size he could make a difference, but he has. Despite his size, he is really a hell of a hand.” Despite Ric’s own daughter Charlotte Flair being involved with someone who left WWE (Andrade), Flair does not think it is realistic to believe that Daniel Bryan would leave WWE with Brie Bella slated for a return at some point in the future. There are multiple wrestling couples that have one person in WWE, but Flair doesn’t seem too concerned.
Ric Flair was depicted on the "Gone Fishing" segment no DJ's Neat O Stat of the Night on "Inside the NBA" on Tuesday night.
In an interview with DAZN, "AEW Dynamite" commentator Jim Ross said that he’s in the final year of his three-year deal with All Elite Wrestling. Ross said that when he came onboard in 2019, AEW President Tony Khan wanted JR for three years for stability. “I don’t really pay a lot of attention to that stuff. You’re having fun. You’re not thinking about it,” Ross said. He noted that in a perfect world, he would like to stay working for Tony Khan and AEW and take it a year at a time. “I would say I’ll do this year, and then let’s evaluate and see where we are health-wise, motivational-wise. Then if I come back, I’d like to come back for a year at a time,” Ross continued. JR said that by the time his current deal expires, he’ll be 70 years old so he doesn’t want to put Khan under any stress with long-term deals. “I’m having fun doing this. I’m not going to work every day. We do four shows a month. I’m required to be somewhere four times a month. It’s not bad. I’m not complaining. It’s just a matter of getting back in that travel groove. I’m a good packer. I have this saying, ‘I don’t have any room in my carry-on for negativity.’ But I think a year at this stage of my life to be realistic and not be egocentric, a year at a time is smart money for me.”
Impact Wrestling's latest "Slammiversary" teaser shows images of Mickie James, Samoa Joe, The Ilconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce), and Daniel Bryan, among others.
