NEWS
An interesting removal from WWEShop.com has been found. As of this past Thursday, Sting merchandise has been removed from the store and can no longer be purchased. This could be another sign that Sting’s agreement with the company has come to an end, as previously Mattel had revealed and then removed from an upcoming line of WWE action figures, as revealed by The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast. This is the second star to have his merchandise removed from the shop in recent weeks, as Brock Lesnar had his merchandise removed after his contract came to a close.
Joey Ryan has been uploading content from wrestling promotions to YouTube without the company's permission. Bodyslam.net has a story about it with screenshots from Twitter from one of the wrestling company owners. You can read the story by clicking here.
Are you a fan of Bugsy McGraw and coloring? A Kickstarter campaign has just launched for The Incredible Brute, a parody coloring/comic book about the first few years in the wrestling career of Michael “Bugsy McGraw” Davis. The book is written by Ian Douglass, illustrated by M.W. Leitzel, published by Darkstream Press, and is included in the ongoing Bledtime Stories line of collectible pro wrestling coloring books from WOHW Publishers.
WWE's YouTube channel uploaded Goldberg vs. Dallas Page for the WCW Championship from Halloween Havoc 1998, The Undertaker vs. Mankind in a Buried Alive match from In Your House: Buried Alive and Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James for the Raw Women’s Championship from the October 30, 2017 episode of Raw.
Jake Hager spoke to Post Wrestling ahead of his fight against Brandon Calton at Bellator 250 this Thursday. You can listen to the interview here
AJ Styles has suspended both his Twitter and Mixer accounts and posted this message: “I want to thank you all for the great memories on Mixer and Twitch. I will cherish these memories and I love everyone of you that have made this possible and supported me. As many of you know WWE is making some changes that involve streaming. We will see what the future holds in that regard. That being said I will be suspending Stylesclash stream. This isn’t goodbye but this is see you some time in the future. We will leave the discord open but since it won’t be monitored we will be making changes.”

Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Tracy Smothers, who passed away from cancer October 28th. Smothers, who also competed briefly as Shaquille Ali and Freddie Joe Floyd, was 58 years old. Smothers, whose full name was Tracy Stanton Smothers, was a 3-sport star in high school and the first person from his high school to compete for the state championship in wrestling. Debuting in 1982, Smothers would come to his first taste of national acclaim in 1987 when he formed the tag team of the Southern Boys with Steve Armstrong. They collected tag team titles regionally before making it to WCW in 1990 and capturing the WCW United States Tag team Titles. This period would also mark Smothers first run as a heel, when the Southern Boys became known as the Young Pistols. After leaving WCW in 1992, Smothers went to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, where he was booked as the top babyface for the company enjoying arguably his greatest success as a singles star. He won the Smoky Mountain title twice and the TV Title 3 times between 1992 and 1995. And while a babyface in SMW, Smothers was working as a heel during a promotional war between SMW & the USWA, joining the USWA’s version of the Nation of Domination and changing his name to Shaquille Ali, borrowing from both Shaquille O’Neal and Muhammad Ali. In 1996, Smothers would sign with the WWF and enter as Freddie Joe Floyd. This was a rib on Jack and Jerry Brisco, as their real names were Fred Joe and Floyd Gerald Brisco and they were from Bowlegs, OK, which Freddie Joe Floyd was billed from. Floyd was never much more than enhancement talent in the year he spent in the WWF, though he did score a win over Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw and a countout victory over Triple H (thanks to distraction from Mr. Perfect). In 1997, Smothers, under his real name, entered ECW and formed the team of the Full Blooded Italians with J. T. Smith. This would grow into a full faction including Tommy Rich, Little Guido and Sal E. Graziano, amongst others. And Smothers would win the ECW World Tag Team Titles with Little Guido while he was there. Given Smothers’ persona as a “southern” wrestler, he would often be introduced as hailing from “Nashville, Italy” or “Southern Italy” during this run. Smothers ended his run in ECW in 1999 and spent the rest of his time on the independent circuit, competing quite regularly. He participated in both of the ECW One Night Stand PPVs as well as all of the Hardcore Homecoming events. In 2007, Smothers joined JCW and spent 8 years as a regular member of their roster. His final appearance of national prominence was in 2010 when TNA held their “Hardcore Homecoming” and he teamed with Little Guido and Tony Luke against Kid Kash, Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger. He would continue to participate in TNA appearances for the remainder of 2010 as part of the EV2.0 faction, feuding with Fortune. Smothers has 7 documented Oklahoma appearances. The earliest was February 11, 1986 where he lost to Taras Bulba and his last was February 26th 2006 at the only Omni Wrestling Promotions event. He was billed as the OWP Champion entering that event and lost the title to Chase Stevens in the main even of that card.
A Go Fund Me has been set up for Tracy Smothers, who passed away. It is for memorial costs. There have been major donations by Scott D'Amore, Chris Jericho, Cody Runnels, Jim Cornette, John Thorne, Colt Cabana, Blue Meanie,Brian Last, Chase Owens, Swoggle and many others.
Highspots posted a Tracy Smothers tribute video, which you can watch here
