A benefit professional wrestling show was held last Saturday night at Chautauqua Auditorium in Waxahachie to raise funds for retired local professional wrestler “Killer” Tim Brooks, who is battling advanced stages of cancer. The benefit was attended by a crowd of about 300 fans and raised more than $1,800 to assist in Brooks’ mounting medical expenses. Many of Brooks’ former wrestling students returned to Waxahachie to come to the aid of their mentor.

Prior to Monday’s Raw, WWE issued a storyline update on Edge: “WWE reached out to Beth Phoenix last Wednesday at Full Sail and she offered no update at that time. When reached, a family spokesperson said, ‘Adam continues to recover at home but for now the family respectfully declines any further comment. They ask for everyone to please respect their privacy at this time.’ On behalf of the WWE Universe, WWE.com sends their best wishes to Edge.”

Lance Archer posted a tweet Monday night teasing his next move: “No matter where I end up Nxt. I’ll remain The King of Sports Entertainment Wrestling World, while making an All Elite choice. I’ll absolutely make an Impact but do it with Honor in a Ring of one Major League wrestling promotion from USA to Japan and all over the world!”

Could MVP be the MVP backstage? According to Dave Meltzer he may have the chance. In his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer is reporting that MVP is being transitioned into a producer role in WWE. His Lounge segment with Drew McIntyre wasn’t meant to be an ongoing deal, but since he’s so good in the role it might be something they pull out of the hat, Meltzer speculates. This past week on RAW, MVP pitched to be a manager or advocate for McIntyre during the segment and Drew Claymore Kicked that idea out the window.

The Clarion Ledger newspaper is reporting that the state of Mississippi gave WWE Hall of Famer "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase $2 million in welfare money for his ministry. The newspaper said that the ministry, titled Heart of David Ministries, had meager funds available until DiBiase' son Brett was hired as deputy administrator at the Mississippi Department of Human Services in early 2017. The ministry got $900,000 in one year from the department. Brett DiBiase, the director who hired him John Davis, and four others were indicted last week as part of a massive alleged embezzlement scheme that also involved welfare money where more than $4.15 million were stolen. The payment received by DiBiase's ministry ran from May 2017 up until this fiscal year and a total of $2,126,739 in welfare money was given to the ministry by the department which his son worked at. There's no record of where all the money went, money which was signed off by John Davis. The newspaper tried to reach Ted DiBiase and his family but the woman who answered the door at his home called the Ledger's reporting "fictitious" and declined to comment. Attempts to reach the board of directors and other officials connected to Heart of David Ministries were also unsuccessful. There are no filed tax documents with the IRS for the past two years by the ministry and the $2 million in state aid dwarfs the donations and grants the ministry received over the years. Brett DiBiase left his post at the MDHS seven months after he was hired. DiBiase founded Heart of David Ministries 20 years ago.
