Ky-Ote announced on Facebook last week that his match on December 1st at WCR's event in Ardmore at Dickson High School, his alma mater, will be his final match of his career. You can see his video announcement by clicking here.
It's been a phenomenal year for A. J. Styles as last week he celebrated 365 days as WWE Champion. Styles won the title on November 7, 2017 during an episode of "WWE SmackDown Live" in Manchester, England, beating Jinder Mahal in a match with a surprise ending. The WWE Title had never changed hands outside North America and such title changes are few and far in between on free television. Styles has now passed Hulk Hogan's second run with the title on the chart as longest-reigning champion and will pass Randy Savage this week who stands at 371 days. His next target will be John Cena who's on the chart with 380 days and then the famous C. M. Punk reign with 434 days. Styles sits in 10th place of longest-reigning WWE champions of all time. Styles has successfully defended the WWE title against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and many others this past year.
The WWE Network original series "WWE 365" will air its second episode immediately following "Survivor Series" on November 18th. A. J. Styles was the subject for episode two. Each episode takes a full year to complete as WWE cameras follow whoever is the subject for 365 days documenting the highs and lows of being a WWE Superstar. Styles recently completed a full year as WWE champion, one of the very few who has managed to do it. The first Superstar to be featured on "WWE 365" last year was Kevin Owens and the episode received great reviews from fans.
WWE posted video of a backstage segment with Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, The New Day, and A. J. Styles celebrating Royce’s 26th birthday. You can see the video by clicking here.
2K released two new content packs last week for WWE 2K19. One is a “Woooo! Edition Pack” that unlocks Randy Savage (WrestleMania VIII), 80s inspired Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Dusty Rhodes, Undertaker (2002), new attire for Ric Flair and Charlotte, and the 1983 Starrcade arena. The other pack, “Ronda Rousey & Rey Mysterio Pack” lets you play as both wrestlers plus also unlocks new Towers: Ronda Has Arrived and Rey Returns. Both are available now for $7.99.
There are changes going on with the New Japan Pro Wrestling AXS announcing crew. Josh Barnett will be out shortly. Jim Ross is also going to be out shortly, at least temporarily. AXS hasn't confirmed if Barnett will return. Ross was to be finished temporarily at the end of the year due to WWE not allowing him to sign a new deal, but he may be out with Barnett before the end of the year. Ross is likely to be a free agent in April.
USA Championship Wrestling has officially announced a TV deal with Tubetown to get the show in Arkansas, Tennessee, and parts of Missouri. The deal was previously reported, but it was officially announced by both parties last week. USA Championship Wrestling is run by Bert Prentice and does a studio show out of Oman Arena in Jackson, TN that features Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Tony Atlas, Matt Riviera, Kevin Zion, and The Starr Twins. The show airs on Tubetown stations at 11:30am Central on Saturday mornings and 6:30pm Central on Monday nights. Check local listing for times and channels in your area.
Paradox Pro Wrestling scheduled a show in Merced, CA. Tickets were priced at $50 down to $20 and featured a number of name wrestlers including Brian Cage, Killer Kross, Brody King, Tyler Bateman, Douglas James, Sammy Guevara, Eli Everfly, Jake Atlas, Jordynne Grace (who ended up working a show in Indiana), Zachary Wentz, Delilah Doom and others. The promoter canceled the show the night before and nobody has heard from him since. The talent was never told the show was canceled. There was no word about refunds. The Best of the West promotion, a different group, posted on Facebook that they had a TV taping in Fresno the next Sunday and offered tickets for half price to anyone who purchased tickets to the Paradox show if they brought proof of the purchase to the venue. Some of the same talent including Brian Cage and Tyler Bateman were booked on that show.
Mick Foley noted that he has to miss a convention appearance in Miami, FL this weekend due to a plumbing issue at his home: “So sorry Miami - but as soon as I landed in South Florida today, I learned of major damage to my house. I’m on my way back home, and won’t be at the Con this weekend. Thanks for the well-wishes for my house. Just a plumbing issue at a very inconvenient time. No one hurt, nothing that can’t be fixed.”
Rodney Mack was interviewed on the "Duke Loves Rasslin" podcast which you can hear by clicking here.

Oklafan extend condolences to Ken Patera on the passing of his brother Jack. Jack Patera was the first head coach of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Jose Lothario, who passed away November 6th at the age of 83. At the time of this writing, no cause of death has been reported. Lothario, whose real name was Guadalupe Robledo, competed in both boxing and wrestling, beginning in the 1950s. Always a top contender for the NWA World Title and once called the best babyface competitor in the business by Dusty Rhodes, Lothario was a top regional star in Calfornia, Florida, and Texas, winning singles and tag team titles everywhere he went. His boxing background was often intermingled with his wrestling prowess as he was a 4-time Florida Brass Knucks Champion and a 5-time Texas Brass Knucks Champion. Lothario had 2 big runs in Oklahoma. His earliest recorded match was on July 2, 1962 in Tulsa where, as The Great Lothario, he wrestled The Great Matsuda to a draw. Matsuda would be a constant thorn in his side during his first month in TSW and the feud would culminate on August 13, 1962 in Tulsa where the two would compete in a Judo Jacket match which Lothario won. He was also a frequent challenger for Don Kent's TSW Oklahoma Junior Heavyweight Title during this time. He ended his first Oklahoma run in 1962 by defeating Jerry Miller in Tulsa. By 1969, Lothario had returned to Texas and on June 7, 1969, he defeated Johnny Valentine for the WCCW Texas Title. He lost it back to Valentine on August 20, 1969. He defeated Valentine again for the title on November 17, 1971 and held it until March 8, 1972 when he lost it to Red Bastien. October 25, 1972 saw Lothario capture the title for a 3rd time. He held it until May 4, 1973, where he dropped it to Blackjack Mulligan, but regained it just 2 weeks later on May 18, 1973. He also captured the WCCW Texas Tag Team Titles for the first time in April of 1973 teaming first with Mil Mascaras, then Ivan Putski when Mascaras was forced to vacate his half of the titles. They lost the titles to Black Gordman & Goliath on August 6, 1973. March of 1972 saw Lothario defeat Johnny Valentine for gold again, this time for the WCCW Texas Brass Knucks Title. He lost it about 2 months later on July 14, 1972, to Stan Stasiak. He would keep the WCCW Texas Title until January 15, 1974 where The Great Mephisto captured it. In August of 1975, Lothario & Al Madril won a tournament for the vacant Texas Tag Team Titles. Lothario also recaptured the Texas Brass Knucks Title from Billy Graham on September 23, 1975. He would lose it to Davey O'Hannon in 1976. Lothario & Madril then lost the Texas Tag Team Titles sometime in 1976 to Stan Hansen and Tim Brooks, but Lothario would then team with Rocky Johnson and regain the titles on Mar 3, 1976. This title reign would last until the beginning of 1977 when they dropped the titles to Tony Charles & Les Thornton, but Lothario would again find a new partner, this time Cien Caras, to recapture the titles with. That reign was over by April 15, 1977 when they were beaten by Bruiser Brody & Mike York. Lothario had one final Tag Team Title run in Texas when he reteamed with Al Madril and beat Bull Ramos & Captain USA for the titles on January 31, 1978. Two months later, on March 31, 1978, Tim Brooks & Leroy Brown took the titles away. On May 15, 1978, Lothario returned to TSW in Tulsa and, competing as Jose Lothario, defeated Larry Booker. He would challenge NWA World Champion Harley Race in Oklahoma City on May 26, 1978, then feud with TSW United States Tag Team Champions Jerry Brown & Bobby Jaggers, teaming with partners such as Skip Young, Steven Little Bear, & Mike George. He would defeat The Assassin for the TSW Louisiana title on September 20, 1978 and hold it for just short of one month, before losing it back to The Assasin on October 14, 1978. His last documented match in Oklahoma during this run was October 9, 1978 in Tulsa, where he faced Ron Bass, but no result of that match is known. In 1980, Lothario found himself back in WCCW, where he defeated Bill Irwin to become the WCCW Television Champion. On December 25, 1981, Lothario would beat Ernie Ladd for his final Texas Brass Knucks Title. He would hold it until March 29, 1982 when he lost it to Bugsy McGraw. He would vacate the Television title sometime before May of 1982. Lothario would remain a top regional star well into the mid-1980s, but it was not until 1996 that he would become recognized nationally as he was brought in to manage Shawn Michaels leading to WrestleMania XII when Michaels defeated Bret Hart for the WWF World Title. Lothario had helped train Michaels right out of high school and Lothario and Michaels would set up a wrestling school in San Antonio, TX which saw them train such stars as Brian Kendrick and Daniel Bryan. Lothario was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2017. Lothario appeared on 28 documented Oklahoma cards, the last of which was September 8, 1996 where he defeated Jim Cornette.
Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled "Jose Lothario passes away at 83" which you can read by clicking here.
Michael Hayes tweeted about the passing of Jose Lothario: “So sorry to hear about the passing of Jose Lothario. What a Legend, especially in Texas. I am proud to say I stole my left from Jose...after eating quite a few of them. Love and condolences to Pete and the family, friends and fans.”
