Matt Riviera has been named president of Right Now TV, a digital broadcast network based in Atlanta, GA. Their target audience is male viewers and their programming includes USA Championship Wrestling and Traditional Championship Wrestling, Riviera's former wrestling company he owned. The New Jersey Devils have a WWE Night on Friday for their game at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Scheduled to appear is Mick Foley, Becky Lynch and Curt Hawkins. The concourse will also have a WWE Museum.

According to TMZ Sports, Riki Paul Johnson is suing WWE, Charlotte Flair, and Ric Flair for defamation. Johnson is the ex-husband of Charlotte. The lawsuit centers around the book Second Nature, which she and her father co-wrote and released last year. He alleges in the lawsuit that they wrote multiple false allegations regarding physical and psychological abuse and was intentionally painted as a villain. The suit also mentions WWE, saying that they should be held liable due to their marketing of the book. WWE issued a response to TMZ Sports, saying “We recently received what appears to be a meritless lawsuit and we will vigorously defend ourselves.”

Sammy Guevara will be Rush’s opponent when Rush makes his Major League Wrestling debut.

Lanny Poffo will be getting a tryout as announcer for New Japan Pro Wrestling. On his podcast, Poffo said that he attended "All In" and met Michael Craven of New Japan, who asked him if he'd be interested in being a color commentator and he said he thought that would be great. He said he would be in Japan from October 23rd to November 4th, which means he will be doing the announcing of the "Power Struggle" show in Osaka.

Hip hop artist Open Mike Eagle worked last Wednesday at the 1,000th episode of Ohio Valley Wrestling tapings in Louisville, KY. He did an angle with wrestler Shiloh Jonze. "Adult Swim" got interested in it and started a mini-documentary of the whole thing that will air at a later date. It became one of the biggest angles on the show, where they got Mick Foley and Ken Anderson involved as well. The match took place last Wednesday and got a lot of mainstream coverage from Vice, Pitchfork, Noisy, and Uproxx.

During Game two of last Saturday's National League Playoffs, FOX showed a clip of Bob Uecker being choked by Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III. They also showed them together as well as highlights of Uecker's career.

Oklafan congratulates The Untamed (Rex Andrews & Ryan Davidson), who surpassed 6 months as ComPro Tag Team Champions. They defeated Duke Swellington & Glacier to gain complete control of the titles on April 21, 2018 at an event in Tulsa. Andrews and Swellington had won the titles on March 16, 2018 but Andrews turned on Swellington immediately following the title win, splitting the team.

Oklafan extendw condolences to the family and friends of Dick Slater, who passed away October 18, 2018 at the age of 67. At the time of this writing,the cause of death was unknown. Slater, whose full name was Richard Van Slater, attended high school with Mike Graham and college with Paul Orndorff. After declining an opportunity to play professional football with the Miami Dolphins, Slater trained with Bill Watts, Hiro Matsuda, and Jack Brisco at the Sportatorium in Florida. He spent over 11 years competing in Florida and Georgia where he won may titles, both singles and tag team. He also won the Missouri Heavyweight Title in that time, which was considered a stepping stone to the NWA World Title, but despite being in the mix for that title, he never received an NWA World Title program, which he chalked up to “politics”. Slater was approached in 1983 to start booking for the Mid-Atlantic territory, which made him a de-facto booker for talent in the Mid-South, Southwest Championship Wrestling, and Houston territories. Slater would later call this the hardest territory to book for because of this. Nevertheless, during his time in Mid-Atlantic, he won the NWA United States, World Television, and World Tag Team Titles. He also declared himself the “real” NWA World Champion and made his own title belt. Slater then moved to Mid-South, prompted mostly because he was tired of the work of booking in Mid-Atlantic. While in Mid-South, he won the MSW North American Title from Butch Reed on January 1st, 1986. He held the title until February 14th when he lost it to Jake Roberts, but 9 days later, won it back from Roberts. He then defeated Roberts on February 28th for the MSWA Television Title. Additionally Slater took on a valet in the form of Dark Journey who was very instrumental in him holding on to both titles. He was also dual champion when MSW rebranded itself as the Universal Wrestling Federation. UWF management declared he could not hold both titles, so he gave the UWF Television Title to Buzz Sawyer. The same night, Slater thought that Sawyer was defending the TV Title against Jim Duggan, but the contract actually had Sawyer defending the North American Title, which he lost, making Slater the only person to lose 2 titles in UWF without actually competing in a match for them. Slater soon left UWF and went to the WWF where he competed with a Southern Rebel gimmick, but only stayed there for about 10 months and never rose above opening match status. After that, he had an even shorter stay in the AWA as a bodyguard for Curt Hennig. He then had an extended tour of Japan before returning to WCW as a member of the J-Tex Corporation. There, Slater formed a tag team with Dick Murdoch called The Hardliners, but that team broke up before the end of 1991. After some time away, Slater returned to WCW and formed a partnership with The Barbarian. Together they defeated The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) to become the final team to hold the WCW United States Tag Team Titles. Slater spent most of 1993 and 1994 as enhancement talent before joining The Stud Stable, under the management of Col. Robert Parker, and being paired with Bunkhouse Buck. Together, they defeated Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) for the WCW World Tag Team Titles and would hold them for about 2 months before losing them back to Harlem Heat. The Stud Stable broke up shortly after that and Slater floundered until partnering with Mike Enos as Rough and Ready. But that partnership was ended when Slater blew out 2 vertebrae and had his in-ring career ended. Slater remained off the radar in retirement until 2004 when he was convicted of attacking his girlfriend with a butcher knife. Slater blamed this on the drugs he was taking for his back pain. Slater was sentenced to one year house arrest and two years probation. Slater competed in 14 documented matches in Oklahoma. The earliest was October 13, 1985 for MSW in Tulsa, where he defeated Nick Patrick and the last was April 13, 1986 for UWF in Tulsa, where he lost to Jim Duggan.
