Adam Pearce defeated Brent Albright for the vacant NWA World Title on September 1st. Pearce you might remember, was an injury replacement for Bryan Danielson, who had defeated Pearce before getting injured. The final match however was not without controversy. In the match, referee Pelayito Vazquez was knocked out by accident, so Bryan Danielson came into the ring to rule the match. Albright and Pearce did some exchange, with both landing flat to the mat but before the three count, Pearce lifted a shoulder, getting the victory. Albright began to celebrate, as he believed he won, but Danielson told him that winner was Pearce, and then Danielson gave the title belt to the winner.
It appears TNA has decided against Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett at the "Bound for Glory" pay-per-view main event. Angle will still be on top of the card.
The new outfit Beth Phoenix wore during the Diva Battle Royal at WWE;s "Summerslam" pay-per-view on August 26th was designed by OVW Diva, Melody.
Ric Flair is among the current WWE superstars that will be included in the new "Smackdown vs. Raw" video game. WWE Legends included in the game are Roddy Piper, Mick Foley, and Rick Rude. Non-playable characters include Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross, and Nick Patrick.
In the "Useless Stat" department, Beck Mal sent a list of the most singles wins in the history of WCW PPV events. Not surprisingly, Sting is first with 31, followed by Lex Luger with 22, Bill Goldberg with 19, Ric Flair, Dallas Page, & Hulk Hogan with 18, and Booker T with 13. Most tag wins were The Steiner Brothers (Scott Steiner & Rick Steiner) with 15, Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) with 12 and The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags) with 9.
The Baltimore Sun is doing a story this week on a trivia note, which is that it was 20 years ago as of this past Wednesday, at the Baltimore Arena, that Bruno Sammartino wrestled his last match. The interesting trivia is that it was Sammartino & Hulk Hogan (the only time the two ever teamed) winning a tag match over King Kong Bundy & One Man Gang.
