The Impact Report

The Impact Report

Posted: Aug 8th 2007 By: Chance Ryan

The era of IZW's dominance over Oklahoma City and Oklahoma wrestling in general continued on Saturday night, as the heat outside the arena, reflected the heat produced by the ever passionate fans in the Impact Arena. Because of that passionate fan fever, the feeling in the Impact Arena is unlike anything that can be described and can truly only be explained by attending any of the now weekly shows every Saturday night.

The show started off with the introduction of a guest ring announcer for the night, a man who has been a ring announcer all over Oklahoma in both pro wrestling and roller derbys. That man was the ever-professionally attired Ray Martinez, filling in for an absent Steve O who was out due to a family emergency. Ray Martinez was about to announce the first match of the night when he received a message from the back.

That message from the back was that Impact Inc. was coming out to the ring. Only 3 members of Impact Inc. came to the ring, being lead by the owner of IZW Johnny Z, the MSWA Oklahoma Champion Aaron Neil and the MSWA Mid-South Heavyweight Champion "Bad" Brad Michaels, both of whom were following the seemingly irate and confused Johnny Z. As he entered the ring, he demanded the microphone from Martinez, who without question handed over the microphone, and then started to rant his frustration of the fact that no member of MSWA had been seen that night, which he assumed was because they were going to be jumping Impact Inc. when they least expected it. Aaron Neil and Brad Michaels tried to calm down their fellow member of Impact Inc. by reminding them why they were truly out there for: to celebrate Johnny Z's birthday. Neil and Michaels announcement of the celebration to the audience brought on both a chorus of boos from the audience, but it also seemed to calm Johnny Z's nerves, as he seemed to relax. The other fellow members of Impact Inc., Bernie Donderwitz and Gary Tool made their way to the ring bringing along with them a Birthday cake that seemed to be missing a piece or two. After the presentation of the half eaten cake and a what some would say was a horrid rendition of Happy Birthday by Impact Inc., Johnny requested to see his presents. His fellow members began to explain that the cake and their singing were Zorthos' presents.

This didn't seem to sit right with Johnny Z, but before he could express his feelings the newest IZW superstar Nathan Sensation, who had just made his debut at the last show, came to the ring to interrupt Impact Inc.'s birthday celebration expressed to the fans and Aaron Neil that he had not given 100 percent the week before in his match and began to demand a rematch against Aaron Neil. Aaron Neil stated to the newest IZW superstar that he had his chance and he had blown it. No rematch, not then, not in the future, never! This did not sit well with Nathan Sensation who came out for a fight, so to make sure that he didn't leave without one, began calling Aaron Neil a chicken. This did not sit well with the MSWA Oklahoma champion as he had just been called chicken by someone he had just deemed under him. Being held back by the other members of Impact Inc., Neil was not allowed to get his hands on Sensation. This gave Nathan an opening to see if Aaron Neil liked the cake brought out to Zorthos. Taking a piece of the cake he chucked it in the face of Neil, which was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back and resulted in Neil releasing his fury on Nathan with a loaded microphone punch, knocking Nathan senseless. Neil took the early advantage and unloaded on the young Nathan who seemed to bite of more then he could chew. Following a Real Drill it seemed all over but Aaron would not have Nathan Sensation walking out without help or worse being taken out on a stretcher. Continuing to dismantle the fiery young superstar, Neil all but seemed to have the match in the bag, until the scrappy Nathan Sensation was able to hit a Downward Spiral out of nowhere. Feeling like this was his chance to capitalize Sensation climbed the top turnbuckle and proceed to fly with a diving head butt, hoping to achieve a detrimental upset over the MSWA Oklahoma Champion but Aaron Neil was able to use his ring veteran status to his advantage, rolling out of the way, getting up and finally finishing off Nathan Sensation with his vicious version of the F5! Aaron Neil left with his championship on his shoulder to a chorus of boos while Nathan Sensation got to his feet and received cheers for his gallant effort, even though he had just became 0-2 in his wrestling career. Sensation seemed unfazed, basking in the fans' admiration. Aaron Neil may have been the one with the victories, but Nathan Sensation left the ring with the fans fully behind him.

Ray Martinez made his way into the ring to advise the crowd to the ZorthoTron 420 to view a video filmed earlier of Ray Martinez interviewing the IZW Champion, "Mr. Saturday Night" Michael Barry. Martinez asked Barry his view on his match last week in which he defeated Ryan Davidson. Michael Barry began to explain how he had beaten Ryan Davidson so bad that he would never show his face in IZW again. Before he was able to go any further, "The Future President of the United States" Mitch W. Carter interrupted the IZW Champion to proclaim that no matter who Barry had defeated before, they didn't measure up to his to his Secretary of Defense, Thomas Rumsfeld, who Carter informed both the champ and the fans was a former Navy Seal, a motorcycle stuntman and a member of Heck's Angels! Barry seemed unfazed, truly showing that the champ of IZW would not be intimidated by mere words. Rumsfeld finally stepped up to Barry informing him that he would be the man to defeat Barry for the IZW Heavyweight title.

After the end of the video, Ray Martinez announced that later that night we would be seeing Thomas Rumsfeld .vs. Michael Barry for the IZW Heavyweight championship. Martinez announced thast in the next match, we would be seeing once again "The Future President of the United States" Mitch W. Carter, who was being accompanied by the his Secretary Marianne Albright, against the debuting masked man Black Mamba 5. Mitch W. Carter felt that Mamba was below his level, and seemed to take the masked man lightly until Black Mamba showed the future president that he was a Mamba to be reckoned with! Pulling out many famous moves including the Rock Bottom and even the Stink Face, Mamba all but seemed to have the match in his favor while setting up for his version of the People's Elbow. Coming off the ropes it seemed that all that Black Mamba had to do was drop the elbow to get the 1-2-3! But the ever crafty Carter sprang up at the last moment, reversing the People's Elbow into The Carter Climax for the victory. The self proclaimed "Future President" left waving to his contingent with his secretary who seemed to be just as infused about her candidate's win.

Martinez again stepped in the ring to announce the 3rd match of the night, first introducing the tag team of Impact, Inc. consisting of John Zorthos and Bernie Donderwitz, again looking even angrier Zorthos took the mic and started to express his frustration that he and Bernie were not wearing the IZW Tag Team titles around their waists, due to the rightly named shenanigans by Team Shenanigans (Kenny Campbell and Tyler Bateman) pointing to the ZorthoTron 420 we were treated to the antics of the Shenanigan Duo mostly being the pouring of ex-lax into the bottled water of Impact Inc. which Bernie drank as he and we all found out later that night, due to Donderwitz's restroom run which Zorthos stated was the reason why they weren't the tag team champions. Zorthos announced that Team Shenanigans were not present that night, but they would be facing a tag team that would provide them ample competition in the form of the debuting team of the New Age Syndicate (Scott Sanders & Shawn Sanders). The New Age Syndicate showed some impressive double team maneuvers including a double Japanese arm drag and double big boots but were still unable to defeat the crafty team of Zorthos and Donderwitz who were able to remove the bigger and stronger brother of the team and hitting a tandem double team maneuver of their own, Donderwitz with his version of the Sky High and Johnny Z's Top Rope Leg Drop for the win.

After a brief intermission, we're joined again by Ray Martinez who had another video to show the crowd, an interview taped earlier in the day. On the screen appeared Ray Martinez and the #1 contender to the MSWA Mid-South Heavyweight title which "Bad" Brad Michaels holds, the "Irish Phenom" Big John O'Malley. John O'Malley then began to express his frustration on how Brad Michaels had squirmed his way out of every chance to give him his rightful title shot, which he deserved. John told us how he and Brad's history stretches back even farther then most people know, that John looked up to Brad, that he did anything he could for Brad, that he breathed in every word Brad spoke, but in the end Brad backstabbed him and now he wanted to take what is the most important thing in Brad's life away from him, his MSWA Heavyweight title.

The next match was the match made earlier in the night, Thomas Rumsfeld being accompanied by Marianne Albright against the IZW Heavyweight champion, "Mr. Saturday Night" Michael Barry. These two behemoths locked up but neither could get a strength advantage, and this one instance would be the factor setting the tone for the rest of the match. But it would be the IZW Champion who got the first advantage of the match, knocking Rumsfeld off his feet but not on to his back, which showed that Rumsfeld was not treating Barry lightly. As the match progressed, neither could get a large advantage, but were wearing down each other with slams of every variation. Rumsfeld seemed to get the first advantage by hitting a huge power slam that seemed to make the ring jump with such a strong ferocity. But Barry showed why he is the most dominate champion in Oklahoma, by kicking out of Rumsfeld's slam and taking control of the Secretary of Defense until Miss Albright decided to get on the ringside to try and tempt the Champion. Michael didn't fall for the diversion and almost made Thomas run in to Marianne. After the diversionary tactics seemed to fail, Rumsfeld decided that he would have to choke out Michael to get this victory. Using Barry's own wrist tape he was able to begin choking the champ as Marianne Albright provided a little diversionary tactic on referee Thomas Patrick, but Michael Barry showed the true heart of a champion, fighting out of the choke, slamming Thomas Rumsfeld and hitting that pinpoint accurate Diving Elbow Drop for a long 2 count, knowing victory was in his grasps. Michael Barry turned the lights out with his patented Saturday Night Special for the 1-2-3, resulting in Michael Barry retaining the IZW Heavyweight Championship!

Even though IZW had just put on 4 PPV caliber matches, the night was not over because still in store was the Main Event, the match that the fans had been looking forward to for such a long time. A match against two men who hate each other, the MSWA Heavyweight title match of the champion "Bad" Brad Michaels and the #1 Contender to the MSWA Mid-South Heavyweight title and the IZW Impact Division champion the "Irish Phenom" Big John O'Malley.

Brad Michaels was first to ring, taking the microphone from Ray Martinez, and expressing that because he was the MSWA Heavyweight champion he could talk as long as he want, and after a few good minutes of "Bad" Brad's ramblings, John O'Malley couldn't take anymore and headed to the ring. Brad didn't even take off his jacket to go and meet O'Malley who was half way to the ring, Michaels knocked off O'Malley's mask and the match was on right after the two entered the ring. You could feel the hatred radiating off these 2 combatants as they continued to just viciously assault each other, but it was John O'Malley who got the advantage first and seemed to finally have the MSWA Heavyweight title within his grasp especially after hitting his variation of the Burning Hammer, The Guinness Hangover, dropping Brad Michaels right on his head. But all would not go as planned, Thomas Patrick the ref had been caught in between the two and was laying out of it in the corner, as John Zorthos along with a chair and Bernie Donderwitz made their way to the ring to take John O'Malley's attention away from the match by taking opposite sides of the ring. But John O'Malley showed that no one would be ruining his chance to hold that MSWA Mid-South Heavyweight title because he was able to avoid the assault by Impact Inc. taking the chair away from Zorthos an laying out all the members of Impact Inc. seemingly having the match in the bag O'Malley was about to crack "Bad" Brad's head like an egg, when Thomas Patrick the ref was brought back to reality by the other members of Impact Inc. and only saw that Brad Michaels was wiggling around in pain, with John O'Malley seeming holding the smoking gun, which resulted in a DQ victory to "Bad" Brad Michaels to retain his MSWA Heavyweight title. Big John O'Malley could not take the fact that he was just robbed blind by Impact Inc. and proceeded to show his frustration by slamming the chair into the corner denting it with his amazing strength.

After the competitors had all left the ringside, Ray Martinez wished every fan in the building to return the following Saturday August, 11, to once again see the top talent of IZW compete in the home of greatest professional wrestling in the world, the IZW Arena, home of Impact Zone Wrestling!
