Finally have the the time to post another blog that I hope that you will enjoy. We had five straight, maxed out days with business picking up in Dallas. Lots to share with you including our new, Ross Report podcast with Jim Cornette joining me to discuss JC's NWA appearance, NXT, Wrestlemania, RAW, and booking in general. Subscribe to our podcast for free at iTunes and I hope that you enjoy this show.
Thanks to all that attended one of our three Dallas House of Blues shows over the Wrestlemania weekend. Our eclectic array of guests including Jeff & Karen Jarrett, RVD, Jeff Hardy, Hurricane Helms and Jim Cornette were wonderful and our audience seemed to enjoy them all and the stories that we told and the questions that we addressed.
We sold out three shows and over 3,000 tickets to fans from all over the world including Australia, the UK, Israel, Dubai, Ireland, Canada and of course the USA. I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves because I had a terrific time and loved meeting so many great fans in our VIP meet and greets.
We are already looking at plans for WM33 in Orlando and hope that even more fans can be a part of it in 2017. Details will be available sooner than later.
Thoroughly enjoyed myself at WWE NXT Takeover Dallas on Friday night and it was one of the most enjoyable evenings that I've ever spent at a pro wresting show. Loved the booking and the unfiltered effort from the talents who took the ring. he stage wa set by the opening match of the Alpha Males vs Dash & Dawson who showed everyone that they are all potential big time players in WWE. Helluva tag match by both teams that demonstrated fundamental soundness, logic, intensity and effort. Really proud of all four men in the match.
Kicking off a show of this nature in a big way is essential and this tag match delivered exactly what they needed to for this sold out event.
Nakamura vs Sami Zane was fabulous especially considered that they had no issue and it was two fan favorites who were in the match. Terrific! I see no reason that both of these men in this match shouldn't be major players in WWE if the stars are aligned properly for them.
Bailey vs Asuka was an amazing Women's match that saw Asuka defeat Bailey to win the NXT Women's title via submission or as WWE might actually prefer via 'TapOut.'
Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor was a Slobber Knocker for sure and here are two more big stars waiting to take off in a major way in WWE. I'd love to see Joe vs Lesnar some day. Seems like WWE needs to address the procedure of inadvertent blood as to not have to adversely impact the flow of the bout in progress.
I watched WM32 from our hotel room at the Ritz Carlton on my iPad so my take on the show might be different than those who attended the event live or watched it on a big screen TV with enhanced audio. I had no major issues with the event as some expressed to me on Twitter @JRsBBQ. I don't live and die as some apparently do on every finish and I embraced the work ethic of the talent and the overall magnificent look of the presentation from AT&T Stadium.
For those who were squealing like a pig under gate over some of the finishes/creative including AJ Styles losing and the "destruction" of the Wyatt Family by The Rock and John Cena, just as I said Sunday night on Twitter let's wait until RAW and see how those two matters are addressed and it seemed that both were addressed well at least to my own satisfaction.
Loved seeing WWE focus on some unique talents in the last two segments of RAW Monday night as it appeared to be a sign of things to come as to where some new talents are going to be given a chance to be main eventers on a n ongoing basis.
Fans at RAW seemed to jump a the chance to cheer for the Wyatt Family especially Bray Wyatt who is a major, character babyface waiting to explode. I've been feeling that one for months.
Thanks to the team at WaleMania for their hospitality to wife Jan and me on Thursday night in Dallas. Fun night and it was great seeing so many old friends and meeting new ones.
Impressed with the organization of Wrestlecon and our three hour line never stopped. Thanks to all that stopped by and said hello.
Not sure that I saw two better matches all weekend than the NXT women's title bout and the three way women's bout at Wrestlemania. Charlotte,Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks rocked it at Jerry's World.
One has to assume that WWE will address the length of their Wrestlemania Sunday night year in Orlando as the event length was the major com, plant that I heard from fans who attended.
Black hat's off to Michael Cole, JBL, and Byron Saxton for their marathon broadcast that did not provide them many opportunities to address their likely much needed men's room breaks as they sat at ringside for approximately 6 hours.
Remember that if you are near an Ingles Market in the Southeast USA that our friends there stock JR's BBQ Sauces, Chipotle Ketchup and Main Event Mustard.
www.wweshop.com and www.americansoda.co.uk provide home delivery for online shopping of JR's products in North America and the UkK, Ireland and Europe, respectively.
JR's business picked up at the WWE Superstore at Axxess and we thank all who shopped there.
Still hard to believe that the Undertaker's 'Steak' at Wrestlemania ended on this date at WM30 in NOLA. That outcome is still a head scratcher to many.
We are working on more RINGSIDE Show dates for 2017 including possible tours of the UK, Ireland and Australia. These are far from done but talks are in progress.
Helluva show this Friday night on AXSTV for New Japan Pro Wrestling with @JoshLBarnett and me that includes a superb wrestling match between Shibata and Sakuraba. The show airs as usual Friday night at 9/8CT.
RIP the term Diva. Good luck on your future endeavors.
Knockout night at The D in Las Vegas airs on Saturday night April 16 on @CBSSportsNet and I hope that you will tune in to hear our presentation of a major league, live pro boxing event. I am SO excited to be back at ringside for live play by play and am honored to be affiliated with this new, boxing broadcast. Check your local listings and plan on checking us out. Slobber Knocker time!!
I'm working on the Q&A's here on the site so stay tuned.
Next week Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer will be my guest on the Ross Report on podcastone.com. Dave always brings plenty of knowledge and his "A" game to our show. Until then check out Jim Cornette and me on this week's show and I'm certain that you will enjoy it.
