JR's Blog: Big Week in Texas, @HOBDallas Tkts Scarce, Ross Report Podcast w/ @MarcMero, Book Update, AXSTV
Posted: Mar 29th 2016 By: Jim Ross
Thanks for stopping by and paying us a visit. It's big week in the Ross household as we will be descending on Dallas in a few days for Wrestlemania Texas weekend. Tickets for our three RINGSIDE with Jim Ross & Friends shows at the Dallas House of Blues are scarce. Check with www.ticketmaster.com if you are considering joining us Saturday or next Monday after RAW. Don't hesitate to get tickets at the door either.
Talking with @AustinAries tonight for a future Ross Report podcast. Taking Twitter questions if you use #AskJimRoss.
Our new podcast will drop Tuesday night as usual at 9 ET/6 pacific with @MarcMero joining us for the first time. This is a compelling, honest and informative conversation with the former Johnny Be Badd. It exceeded all my expectations thanks to Marc's openness and honesty.
Jim Cornette will be my guest next week on the post Wrestlemania Ross Report of which I greatly look forward. Dave Meltzer joins me the following week on Tuesday April 12.
Honored to be appearing this Friday at Wrestlecon from 10 am-1 pm in conjunction with Headlock on Hunger.
Hearing that my dear friend, the late Dusty Rhodes will be honored by WWE this Thursday night at AXXESS. Don't know what the honor is but a statue has been rumored. No matter the award it will be will deserved. I miss The Dream daily....if you weill.
If WWE can get 3-4 things to really 'stick' with their viewers tonight on their three hour RAW from Brooklyn, they will earn a win. 3-4 things that will occur at Wrestlemania Texas that the fans can take with them from RAW should provide the impetus to get more fans to watch the biggest pro wrestling event of the year on the WWE Network. I will be watching via the WWE Network on my iPad in my Dallas hotel room. I'll take plenty of notes and jot down observations of the show so that I can better contribute to Taz's three hour CBS Radio extravaganza Sunday night from 11 pm ET-2 am ET on CBS radio stations nationwide.
Still of the mindset that WWE should kick off Wrestlemania Texas with the IC Title Ladder match and close with the WWE Title bout and I'm firm on that matter.
I'd be shocked if John Cena wasn't on RAW tonight considering that he's in NYC today co-hosting the Today Show on NBC. He should be booked to cut a WM32 promo as John is a great salesman.
Read where Kane is going to his 17th Wrestlemania which is amazing. Time really does fly by doesn't it? Of all the amazing things that have happened and are still happening in my my career, hiring men like Glenn Jacobs might be the most rewarding. I truly thought that knew the moment that I met Glenn that he was a keeper but after talking to him for a few minutes, that decision was locked in. Seeing the masked Unabomber in Smoky Mountain Wrestling for the first time is still a vivid memory after all these years.
We will have a ton of merchandise of all shapes, sizes and flavors at our merchandise table at the House of Blues. Plus, WWE Shop will have JR's products on sale at their Super Store at Axxess.
Josh Barnett and I received some amazing feedback from viewers and from the pro wrestling media regarding our AXSTV broadcast Friday night of New Japan Pro Wrestling. The credit goes to KUSHIDA and Kyle O'Reilly but thanks to all nonetheless. AXSTV allows us to focus on the matches which helps us immensely.
I'm working with Jerry Bostic and Oklahoma's Imperial Wrestling Revolution on a major, indy show for OKC on Sunday July 17. We are addressing the card now and it's going to be a super lineup. Stay tuned.
We are hopeful to take in the NXT Takeover in Dallas Friday night if our plan come to fruition. We went last year in San Jose and it was one of the highlights of the weekend. Excited to see Nakamura in person again. He's spectacular IMO and a lock to be a main event star unless things creatively go strangely awry. I don't see that happening.
For those championing the cause that WWE needs an off season, are they taking into consideration the contractual obligations that WWE has with rights holders globally to produce new, first run programming on a weekly basis? Talents can be given ample off time without having to create an off season if the booking is better organized and efficiently interfaces with creative. It would tak ample planning but it can be done. I do agree that talents need more off time to rest and regenerate.
However, the reason for many injures is not solely on the schedule but also lies at the feet of the amount of 'bumps' talents take and the high risk element that many of these 'car crashes' entail. Work smarter and sell more which will lessen the need for so many insane scenarios.
Honored to be attending Wrestlecon Friday from 10 am - 1 pm in Dallas in conjunction with Headlock on Hunger.
The Q&A's elsewhere on the site are updated.
Happy to say that our current podcast with @MickieJames is one of our most listened to shows. Mickie's honesty is refreshing.
Book update...our literary agent is preparing sales presentation materials for major publishers to review and Paul O'Brien and I will resume writing after Wrestlemania. Paul will be attending his first Wrestlemania this year. WEeare shooting to have our book released in 2017.
@FITE will be all over Wrestlemania covering a wide variety of events in Texas. The app is FREE and I invite you to download it and then check out all the pro wrestling that we carry on a weekly basis.
My latest contribution to foxsports.com will released this week and it's a cool piece on the History of Texas Wrestling.
