The Scoop

The Scoop

NEWS
According to PWInsider.com, there has been no real talk in WWE of Sting appearing at "WrestleMania 32" next year. That doesn?t mean Sting won?t make an appearance, as the show is still months away, but as of now there has been no internal discussion about Sting at the PPV. As for other top matches at "WrestleMania 32", Sting vs The Undertaker is not happening, and as of this writing WWE officials are still planning The Undertaker vs. John Cena. This is a match that was discussed back in August, and it appears as if WWE is sticking to the plan.

Regarding the ?30 For 30? special that ESPN has been filming about Ric Flair, reportedly Vince McMahon signed off on allowing ESPN to use their archival footage for the special. Flair spent four hours being interviewed earlier this month and they were filming backstage at "Survivor Series" in Atlanta, GA. The piece will reportedly cover Flair?s entire career, his personal life, financial issues, Reid Flair?s death, the 1975 plane crash, and more. There will be a focus on the 1980s when he was at the peak of his career as NWA World Champion and his time with The Four Horsemen.

Mick Foley wrote a long Facebook post about how last night?s RAW may be his last one as he?s not happy with the product. It sounds like Foley will be airing his grievances with Steve Austin on his podcast this week as Foley posted on Twitter "Woke up to find a message from @steveaustinBSR, asking if I wanted to share some thoughts on today's @WWE. I gave him an "oh hell yeah!"

Among the likely matches for WWE's "TLC" pay-per-view in Boston, MA is WWE United States Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger.

Terry Funk talks about the New Japan Pro Wrestling Tag Team Tournament in a video you can see by clicking here.

A. J. Styles didn't work Sunday's New Japan Pro Wrestling show in Ehime, Japan nor Monday's show in Fukuoka, Japan. Styles & Yujiro Takahashi are scheduled for a tournament match today in Fukuoka against Matt Taven & Michael Bennett. He is reportedly trying to push through a back injury.

A tribute show for Mil Mascaras and Tinieblas was announced for December 6th in Monterrey, Mexico at Arena Coliseo featuring Tinieblas Jr. vs. Scorpio Jr. in a Mask vs. Hair Match.

Matt Hardy was hospitalized Saturday night. He was wrestling Jeff Jarrett in Winston-Salem, NC at "WrestleCade" and he had a big cut opened up.

Harley Race withdrew from "WrestleCade" in Winston-Salem, NC due to health issues.

Adam Sandler recently updated verses to his classic "Hanukkah Song", and there's a shout out to Goldberg beating Hogan for the WCW World Title.

Tommy D, real name Tom Demos, was part of a news story by KFOR channel 4 in Oklahoma City about the tap water in Edmond being safe to drink despite appearing cloudy. You can read the story by clicking here.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Tommy Gilbert, who passed away November 26th. Gilbert was the son of pro wrestler Arlie Gilbert and was a top performer in the Tennessee area in the 1970s and 1980s, frequently competing with his sons Eddie Gilbert and Doug Gilbert. Tommy held many titles during his career in Tennessee, in the Caribbean, and in TSW. Several of those were tag team titles with his son Eddie, including the TSW United States Tag Team Title, which they beat Siegfried Stanke & Steve Lawler for on May 3, 1980. They would be the last team to hold those titles as the company would replace those with the TSW Tag Team Titles and the Gilberts would be acknowledged as the first champions. They would trade those titles with Ron McFarlane & Doug Somers in 1980, but Tommy would suffer an injury that year which forced them to vacate the belts and they would never regain them. Gilbert has 19 documented appearances in Oklahoma. The earliest on January 4, 1980 where he teamed with Herb Calvert & Bruce Reed and defeated Ron Starr & TSW United States Tag Team Champions Siegfried Stanke & Steve Lawler. His last appearance as a wrestler would be August 17, 1981 were he defeated Skandar Akbar. After retiring from active competition around 1985, Gilbert would return to Oklahoma and serve as the head referee for MSW and UWF until the company was bought out in 1987.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about Tommy Gilbert's passing which you can read by clicking here.
