We are getting amazing feedback on our newest Ross Report Podcast with Bret Hart that you can listen to for FREE at podcastone.com, iTunes and without leaving this site on the home page here at jrsbarbq.com. I hope that you check it out. Next week we have a duel threat show with @Bellator fighter Kimbo Slice talking about knocking out Ken Shamrock on June 19 on @spike TV and Jim Cornette who discusses the www.nwalegends.com fan fest, Sunny doing porn, the death of Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics, JC's alleged issues with Kevin Owens and the Young Bucks and much more. Lots of great podcasts coming your way and you can hear them all for FREE by subscribing for FREE at iTunes.
Not wild about the term Wednesday Night Wars' as it relates to all the pro wrestling that now airs on free TV on Wednesday nights. 'War' indicates that someone will lose or be eliminated which any wrestling fan with above average intelligence should not want to happen to any promotion.
Anxious to see the audience totals for the night for Destination America. Not sure what it's going to take to make them happy but considering their network's numbers presently it may all be about selling advertising during their wrestling block which can arguably be as much about a sales staff knowing how to market pro wrestling as it is about merely selling ad time based solely on the TV numbers.
Got some Tweets about ROH's production values that new viewers had heard me mention on the Ross Report. I've been told by ROH management that those upgrades are coming and to be patient. That's good news. I still think that the hard working ROH talents would better serve themselves inside the ring if they slowed down a gear to have some where to go but no one can ever question the work ethic of ROH talent. ROH should do what they can to edit out dated live event references as it make the viewers think that they are watching an 'old' show.
Impact Wrestling featured some strong in ring product but they are getting borderline too talk heavy for my personal taste. Loved the tag match between Roode/Aries vs. The Wolves as they continue to deliver in a big time, main event level manner. Rockstar Spud delivered an excellent in ring promo because it had a beginning, middle and and end with a payoff. In other words, it was logical. For all the things that I liked about Spud's presentation, I wish that he had chosen a little toned down version of is attire for such a serious topic as challenging Kurt Angle for the world title.
One of TNA's strong suits in recent years has been their Knockouts and it still is but the one way to make them not so special is to overexpose them and that was almost the case Wednesday night for me.
TNA did do a nice job of promoting 'next week' which is essential for any weekly, TV program.
I'm a big fan of both Mickie James, who was on our talent roster when I was in WWE, and James Storm whose work I've always enjoyed a great deal but the creative that they were provided Wednesday night regarding the train was undesirable and completely unrealistic and had me feeling embarrassed for two, very good talents. I do like the direction of Storm becoming a deranged character with scary tenacities but the train business did that few favors.
Hopeful that WWE keeps the Cena-Owens issue alive and the only way that will happen is if Owens, the villain, keeps gaining advantages in any manner possible going forward until the time comes for the big, blow off finale. Owens is NOT 'over' yet and for him to start losing to anyone right now isn't to my way of thinking. Bottom line is that it is more important for WWE at this time to get Kevin Owens established as a main event level villain th it is to allow Cena to even the score.
Don't forget to check out Glory kickboxing this Friday at 4 pm ET on @Spike Tv from France with my pal Mauro Ranallo on the call. Wish I was there at ringside with him as I'm becoming a kicking boxing fan and love the straight forward physicality and no nonsense approach to the game including no clinches. Pius, someone usually ends up getting finished which is always a more exciting conclusion than relying on judge's scorecards.
