Random Thoughts....

Recording a Ross Report Podcast tonight with @MarkMaddenX to review WWE Payback, talk ROH, TNA, Lucha Underground, Global Force Wrestling, the NFL, @Steelers, Tommy Brady and much more. Going to be a helluva show with loads of opinion and likely some controversy. New show drops Tuesday night at 9 ET on podastone.com, iTunes and here on the home page of this site.

Subscribe for FREE to the Ross Report via iTunes and never miss a show, go back and listen to our classic, archived shows and support us in the meantime without costing you a dime. We are grateful I assure you.

I'd like to see the WWE pre and post shows contain a little more differing opinion and substance. I enjoy the work of all my friends on the show but I'd suggest to them to "turn it loose" and have more fun and provide more provocative topics for fans to ponder.

It's amazing that I am approached by so many wrestling fans who aren't regular viewers of any wrestling TV show now days but that love the @WWENetwork. Some buy the network for their kids and end up watching some of the classic content that the father's grew up enjoying.

Eden is evolving into a really nice ring announcer who has a lovely, young, vibrant look. My wife mentioned her to me last night as we were watching the Payback event together.

Sorry...no one I know likes Damien Sandow or Curtis Axel more than me but their current TV personas aren't my cup of tea. Yep, I'm likely out of the demo but I don't find it entertaining and I love both guys and am happy that they are being cast in something as both have talents that are yet to be fully utilized.

Love to see a Sheamus vs. Cena battle for the US Title as the story has roots and makes logical sense in my view. Their matches would be solid, physical affairs which I think many fans would enjoy.

Rusev has to be re-tooled/rebuilt and perhaps his issues with Lana will help that matter especially if the right fan favorite comes to her 'rescue.' I certainly would not give up on Rusev who is just learning the nuances of being a wrestling villain.

The New Day TV persona is easy to dislike which is step one in developing viable TV wrestling villains. Men like Michael Hayes and Arn Anderson can take talents like this under their wing and impart the wisdom of becoming true, wrestling bad guys. The trio has merely scratched the surface of what they can be and my only advice to them is to never play the role of a villain...live it...as best as one can.

All talents who earn a living in the biz should watch how Dolph Ziggler sells. He's rapidly approaching the Ricky Morton and Ricky Steamboat level.

I could easily see Bray Wyatt being a character 'face along the line of when Dusty Rhodes first turned years ago in Florida under the watchful eye of Eddie Graham and Bill Watts. It simply seems to me that the fans care enough about the Wyatt TV character that they want to ride along with him on his journey which is major in building a fan favorite.

Scheduled to talk to both Bret 'Hitman' Hart and Mike Tenay tomorrow night for future Ross Report Podcasts. Two of my favorite guys who I've been wanting to have on our podcast since I started it over a year ago.

Any body else think that some stipulated matches we see on various wrestling TV shows simply don't work any longer in a PG wrestling world? I'm not suggesting that TV14 is the way to go but some 'gimmick matches' might need to be shelved as they simply don't play well in PG land. This is not a WWE exclusive matter as most promotions have the same issues.

Happy to see Steve Austin back on the WWE Network with his interview/podcast starting June 1 with Paul Heyman. This interview, in my opinion, will be worth the $9.99 tab for June plus one gets at least one PPV...and much more. If Austin and @HeymanHustle are turned loose, in a good way, this interaction could be classic. @steveaustinBSR belongs on the WWE Network as he's to entertaining to not be. Of course @HeymanHustle is in that same category.

Check out the Jerry Lawler DVD that's out Tuesday especially the documentary portion of it as it's really good. Plus, some of King's classic Memphis bouts are priceless. @JerryLawler is one of a kind....thank goodness. :) I will be seeing King down in Memphis again soon. Andy Kaufman's pre Memphis arrival interviews had him 'over' as a hated villain before he ever arrived in Tennessee. The concept will still work today if done properly.

TNA has their back against the wall with Destination America moving TNA's show to Wednesday nights even before the audience found them on Friday nights on a network that is one step away from being off the grid. I am sincerely pulling for TNA but this move is going to be hard to hurdle. I'd be producing a product that gets the hard core fans raving and then hoping that the word spreads. Talk heavy shows with less action isn't going to get the job done. Create some new stars through in ring action and a great, slow build plus by using pre produced vignettes and not the talking head syndrome.

www.wweshop.com is the place to go for JR's products in North America. Our friends at @MCWWrestling sold every bottle of product that they purchased BEFORE our Saturday show Baltimore even started. Hard to find anyone who does indie wrestling better than Maryland Championship Wrestling.

Thanks for stopping by and paying us a visit and please catch the Ross Report Podcast this week as it will be a good one.
