Let's grill...

My conversation with a sober Iron Sheik is still doing great business at podcasone.com on the Ross Report Podcast. He has a helluva story to tell and has amazing recall for the most minute of details considering his life style for the past many years. Tuesday night at 9 ET a new show will drop featuring ROH and top, indy wrestler Adam Cole. right young man who is an engaging interview talking about life in his independent world and his plans for he future. It's a perspective from an entirely different mindset as Cole is young, has a definitive upside and various promotions seem to be interested in him. Tune in Tuesday night on podcastone.com or iTunes.

I will visit with ROH voice Kevin Kelly Tuesday for a podcast that will drop on Tuesday February 17 to discuss the ROH PPV and Kevin's career in the business which I'm anxious to speak with him about.

Hurricane Helms will join me on the Ross Report on February 24 to review WWE's Fast Lane PPV that will be held in Memphis on Sunday Feb. 22. Gregory Shane Helms is a bright guy who will offer a unique perspective on the inaugural WWE PPV.

We will also be talking to Shawn Michaels later in February to discuss his new book which is another show that I'm looking forward to hosting.

I've also booked TNA's Bobby Roode to talk his career and the journey that he has been on with Impact Wrestling. Roode is one of the better talents in the world and another excellent student of the game. The front page of this site has all our booked guests and when their podcasts will drop if you care to take a look.

Can't help but think that as much buzz that is surrounding WWE's Daniel Bryan that there is no way that WWE won't use DB in he WWE Title picture at WM31. I'm not sure how WWE are going to get there, which actually makes watching their weekly TV more compelling, or the end game but Bryan is too hot to not put him in the title picture to make the outcome more unpredictable. I am not a big proponent of a multiple person, main event at WM31 for the WWE Championship but having a three or four man match may have to be the way to go considering the lay of the creative landscape currently in WWE. This is all TBD, I assume. IMO and from talking to my wrestling fan friends, Daniel Bryan is the most compelling talent on the WWE roster right now along with Brock Lesnar.

This scenario certainly doesn't eliminate Roman Reigns from title consideration and I still think that Heyman and Reigns makes for an interesting combination that has multiple win-win components. I also l like the combination of Heyman and Rollins.

Lesnar's long term career in WWE is still in question at this time and will remain so until he decides where he wants to hang out his shingle after WM31. There is still ample MMA talk regarding Brock as UFC would obviously love to have him back and Brock Lesnar in Bellator would be a huge coup for that organization so Lesnar has multiple options and all, one would assume, for significant cash.

Because some have asked, yes, Bryan and Lesnar could have a great match in any environment and those that think that DB's size is an issue have likely ever had their butt kicked by someone smaller than them. Bryan is the best in ring performer WWE has and that statement alone tells me he can ave a strong match with virtually anyone on the roster.

If the late Ray Stevens is inducted into the WWE HOF at WM31 in the heart of the wrestling territory that he helped make famous it will be spot one especially if Pat Patterson inducts his former partner and rival. Many old timers feel that Patterson and Stevens were the bet tag team ever and others swear that Ray Stevens was the most natural in ring performer ever as it relates to natural timing, instincts, etc.

I wonder how many young wrestlers like in NXT, the Indies, etc take the time to watch Patterson and Stevens body of work or watch Ray in singles bouts. Young talents can't learn as they ideally should working with talents tht are less talented than them nor can they improve if they don't study the works of the greats who preceded them.

Check out the NXT Takeover this Wednesday night as it is often and arguably the best produced wrestling TV show of the week.

Curious as to how Lucha Underground which airs on Wednesday nights on the El Rey Network is going to create unique personas with so many of their talents wearing mask and somewhat comparable ring attire. This brand is allegedly making some interesting moves for the future as it relates to their in ring talent. The success of any TV wrestling show is always centered around their talents and how said talents are featured keynoted by long term planning. When some fans who follow the business closely complain about wrestling storylines being "too predictable" I'd much rather have it that way as to use the 'surprise element' to present an inferior product.

Getting lots of questions regarding a RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross show during WM31 week. We are hopeful of doing a show in the San Jose area but have yet to find a suitable location. We are still endeavoring to find the right venue and hope to know something soon.

It's going to be interesting to follow how the MMA world addresses drug testing of their fighters going forward. It's obvious that, not unlike NFL, etc, that MMA has an issue that must be addressed. Can it be totally eliminated? Likely not but strict processes need to be carefully initiated so that these matters can be lessened. These tests will take lots of money and many are suggesting that the offenders be dealt with swiftly and without too much 'slack.' Every body is looking for unfair advantages in the never ending chase for bg money in a business that often times seems their athletes have a short shelf life.

Q&A's are updated. Fantasy booking that is submitted w/o a finish attached to it usually don't make the cut. Why would anyone book a match without a finish in mind? Makes zero sense.

Happy Birthday to Paul Wight aka Big Show who is 43 today.

Get well wishes go out to DDP who's having issues with his throat.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you are following me on Twitter @JRsBBQ.

Have a great day and come back and visit us.
