JR's Blog: Tuesday Blog..Stan Hansen on Ross Report Podcast, @MarkMaddenX, @Amazon, @MichaelSamNFL, @JakeSnakeDDT, JR Appearance in Norman, @WWENXT

Posted: Sep 3rd 2014 By: Jim Ross

Happy Tuesday everyone...big day on the Ross Report as my conversation with Stan "the Lariat" Hansen drops tonight at 9 pm eastern time on podcastone.com and iTunes. This was one of my favorite conversations on the podcast as we discussed the territory days of the business, WWWF, Japan and so much more with a true legend in the biz. Check it out as we start the grill....

Talking to @MarkMaddenX later today for a future podcast. The former WCW broadcaster and current Pittsburgh radio personality is outspoken and the "Super Genius" has no problems expressing himself. This should be a fun podcast. A full list of my podcast guests through the end of the year is located on the home page of this site.

The Q&A's here are updated at Ask JR. I try to answer as many as possible but do to the volume I can't get to them all plus many are repeat questions several times over.

Back to the podcast, it helps us greatly when you do any online shopping via Amazon that you use the Ross Report link. It costs you nothing, there's no gimmicks, etc but Amazon helps us through that link with our production costs for the podcast. Thanks for considering this when doing shopping via Amazon. You can find our link at podcastone.com.

By the way, and off topic, making pro wrestling referees look stupid helps no match and takes away from the overall presentation. No one wins when established fundamentals within the business are ignored. Attention to detail in any venture is important to that venture's success. (Soap box now stored away.)

The publicity motivated move by WWE to invite Michael Sam to next week's RAW is intriguing as far as media exposure is concerned. The former SEC conference defensive player of the year was recently cut by the St. Louis Rams but is likely to be picked up on another NFL team. Sam is the first, openly gay NFL player to come out prior to the annual NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see how Sam's creatively utilized IF he accepts WWE's invite. Perhaps WWE is Michael Sam's plan B. Who knows?

This matter will get WWE more national publicity than any thing else advertised on the first RAW of 2014 versus the NFL's Monday Night Football. Again, will Michael Sam agree to appear? Stay tuned.

The tension between Stephanie McMahon and AJ Lee was interesting. Could be an compelling scenario going forward especially the promos.

Lots of promotion for E's Total Divas on the Omaha Raw which debuts a new season this Sunday in the States, again on the E Network.

Doing an appearance at the Lindsey Street @HomelandStores in Norman on Saturday September 13 from noon to 2 pm on the day OU hosts the Tennessee Volunteers. We'll have great deals on JR's products and FREE FOOD!! If you are in the area, I hope that you will drop by and say hello. We'll also have FREE photos that I will be happy to sign.

Hooking up with my writing partner Scott Williams at the end of September to spend another several days in Norman working on my autobiography. We still expect to have this project completed in the spring of 2015 if all continues to go well. Scott plans to interview many people from within the business for additional material for the book as well.

Been enjoying the NXT broadcasts on the WWE Network. Generally an excellently paced, one hour show which makes NXT an easy show to watch. Impressed with Charlotte, Ric Flair's daughter, who has legit athletic skills and a marketable look. I'd merely suggest that she refrain from getting any more tattoos which officially reconfirms that I'm an old school guy. Seriously, Charlotte has a good shot to have a nice WWE career and I speculate that she will be called up to the main roster sometime this year.

Hoping that all wrestling fans make the attempt to watch Impact Wrestling on @Spike on Wednesday nights. Real fans should try and support all brands or at least that's my opinion.

Headed to Tulsa this weekend to watch OU vs. Tulsa on the gridiron which airs on ABC at noon eastern/11 central. Look for the black hat on the Sooner sideline Saturday. Hope there's not a distraction finish....

Please keep @JakeSnakeDDT in your thoughts as he is still hospitalized in Las Vegas with double pneumonia. Reports say that the 2014 WWE HOFer is improving which is great news. My health issues with breathing matters such as pneumonia have virtually gone away after I quite smoking COLD TURKEY back in January. I hope that Jake's doctors check him for sleep apnea too while he's in the hospital, too.

All athletic teams that do physicals should consider checking for sleep apnea. When you read that "__________ died peacefully in their sleep" that sounds an alarm for me. Several of the biggest names in the wrestling biz are being treated for sleep apnea.

Have a great day/night and enjoy tonight's podcast with one of the most respected men in the business who's "Lariat" wasn't used as a highspot...but don't get me started....Stan Hansen on the Ross Report tonight at 9 pm eastern on podcastone.com and iTunes. Thanks for supporting us and for spreading the word on our show.

Boomer Sooner!
