Ted?s Blog: Remembering Mae Young

Ted?s Blog: Remembering Mae Young

Posted: Jan 15th 2014 By: mikeiles

The wrestling world has lost a real gem. Mae Young died Tuesday at the age of 90. I always looked forward to seeing her at WrestleMania and whenever the WWE would bring us back for special shows. Mae wrestled with my mother many times, and always spoke fondly of her when we had a chance to chat. Mae always told me, ?Your mom was a great worker, as good as most of the men!? My mother?s wrestling name was Helen Hild. Mom quit wrestling when she met my dad, Mike DiBiase. She died in 1984 at the age of 56.

Mae Young was perhaps, the last of the ?old school? lady wrestlers. And make no mistake, she could wrestle with the best of them too! I can also guarantee you they?ve never made them tougher than Mae.

Although she was as tough as they come, she was a real lady and will be greatly missed. God bless you Mae, and when you see my mom, tell her I send my love.
