Random Thoughts...
WWE talents racking up the frequent flyer miles the past few days before returning to the States for Raw Monday and the Smackdown taping Tuesday. Hat's off to them considering the miles that they are logging. Unless one has done it, it is impossible to understand the travel demands and unique challenges it brings to the dance. I do not miss that aspect of the biz.
The Q&A's here on the site are updated and seem to be becoming a popular facet of our site. Keep your questions succinct please. Wise ass questions are easily deleted just for the record. Thought this latest grouping of questions were good. Check them out.
I think that there may only be something like a dozen tickets left for my Cardiff show on Saturday August 24 at the Cardiff Hilton hotel. This is a unique show as it's the first show on my first tour. The Manchester show to be held on Monday August 26 at the Manchester Comedy Store can seat up to 500 but less than 100 tickets remain. The shows in London and Glasgow are both sold out. For tickets and more info, log on to http://www.psievents.eventbrite.com/.
I'll be appearing at the Norman, Oklahoma Homeland store on Lindsey Street on Saturday August 10 from 1-3 pm doing some grilling and holding a meet and greet. It's FREE thanks to Homeland so come on by if you are in our neck of the woods.
Would like to have seen many old friends this weekend at the Charlotte NWA Fan Fest and hope those that attend have a great time.
Heading to OU football practice in the next few days but want to wait until they are in pads and run their world, famous 'Oklahoma Drill.' Sooners picked to finish 4th in the Big 12 which I like as it should light some fires under many interested parties namely the players. With three new coaches and coming off 'just' a 10 win season last year, the Sooner Staff are ready to rock and have been for several weeks. One can always tell business has picked up when there is a sparkle in the eye of the HBC (head ball coach).
Twitter question of the week...."Do you like to play Rugby?" Answer...about as much as I enjoy watching cricket.
Amazing how many questions that i receive about Bells palsy. I assume having three attacks of the facial paralysis allegedly makes me an expert but there is still no known cause or cure. I will address my emotions regarding this matter on my UK tour but suffice to say I steadfastly refuse to allow it to define me. Obviously, Bells did my broadcasting career no favors but that's the hand that I was dealt. So many folks have much worse conditions with which to deal.
Any one who is convinced that Daniel Bryan has no chance to beat John Cena at Summer Slam perhaps should reassess their take on that match. Not only can Bryan win, I think that he will win. Happy that I will be in arena watching. These two have an amazing contrast in styles and will likely close the PPV and, as all main eventers have for decades, have the obligation to close what is expected to be a strong PPV in a big way. I am very curious to see how these two mesh once the bell rings and I feel it could, arguably, well be Cena's best match since HBK and the Punk match in Chicago. Bryan is the hottest talent in the business as we speak, in my opinion.
The Lesnar-Punk match at Summer Slam will feature two men with many of the same in ring attributes who love to bring it and employ a physical style. I used to love the 'strong style' of wrestling that was employed effectively in Japan years ago, that when I watched it with more regularity, and my instincts say that @CMPunk and @BrockLesnar will give us some of those elements.
Both those two main events are an announcer's dream because of the personal issues involved, what's at stake, the skill level of all the performers and the 'cast of characters' that will likely be involved.
Speaking of Summer Slam, I will be in LA to do some 2K Sports work on Saturday afternoon at AXXESS and will be doing a signing Sunday at AXXESS from 1-3 before heading over to the Staples Center for Summer Slam.
The Aaron Rodriguez situation reminds me of the old saying, "Look around at your friends and see your future." If one hangs with bottom feeders or malcontents, one's chances of long term success lessen significantly. Obviously, purging one's roster or circle of friends of said negative elements is easier said than done. One's traveling partners can make a huge difference in one's career.
Don't get how this Castro dude in Cleveland gets life plus like a million years in prison for being an animal and ruining multiple lives and doesn't simply get eradicated. Why should he be allowed to live?
Congrats to @JCLayfield, who's not a bad guy for a Texan, on climbing another mountain with the proceeds of such to help needy kids in Bermuda. John enjoys busting my defenseless chops on TV but I can assure you that it is all in fun. The Oklahoma-Texas rivalry is a part of our heritage.
Lots of people asking me my thoughts on the Tito Ortiz appearance on TNA Thursday night. This is a damned if you do damned if you don't question for me. Firstly, I did not see it live. Secondly, I don't know the plans for Ortiz nor do I know his motivation for venturing into a pro wrestling ring. Is it simply a needed pay day or does Tito want to start a new career? Lastly, I don't have a horse in the race but I do hope that everyone involved does well.
All of our BBQ Sauces, Ketchup and Mustard are Gluten Free. I do have a horse in that race.
For some reason, and I hope that I'm wrong, I've got a gut feeling that more challenging times are ahead for Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel this season. It's seemingly a foregone conclusion that he's gone to the NFL after this season as Manziel seems to have outgrown College Station, Texas. I'm not sure that Johnny Football will be fortunate enough to make it through the Texas A&M season in one piece. Again, I sure hope that I'm wrong. I will say that I have never seen a more impressive performance against my Sooners than I saw in the Cotton Bowl by the Aggie QB. He's got amazing vision and natural instincts but he won't surprise or slip up on any one this year. That fact can be utilized to Texas A&M's benefit, by the way, but one has to know that every defensive player in the SEC wants a shot at Johnny Football.
Asked how new, Diva JoJo is on the road at age 19 but the fact of the matter is that she isn't as best that I know. Is she booked on the live event tours? Nope. That's the road. Taping elements for a reality TV show and being a traveling wrestler that's on the road every week is a hugely different ball game.
Thanks for all who are nice enough to support our efforts to make JR's Family of products a dream come true. We appreciate all of you that buy our products very much.
